LIBERTY TOWNSHIP MAN MISSING

Sheriff Richard K. Jones reports the Butler County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a missing person from Liberty Township. Scott Michael Schwarz was last seen Friday August 9th around 8:30 pm at the Liberty Center on Blake Street.

Mr. Schwarz is 60 years old, 5’9”, 190 pounds with gray hair and blue eyes and was last known to be wearing a gray “CSI” t-shirt and dark colored jeans.

If you have any information that could help locate Mr. Schwarz, please contact Detective Detherage at 513-759-7349.

Video of Scott seen exiting his apartment building on Friday, August 9th.

  • Scott's family is completely shocked by his disappearance and describe him as a loving, family-oriented man who is absolutely devoted to them.
  • On Friday, all of a sudden their texts to him weren't going through.
  • Investigators say there's been no trace of Scott electronically or financially.
  • His car is still in the parking lot.
  • It did not appear that there was any forced entry to the apartment or signs of a struggle.
  • Scott's wife contacted police over the weekend after not having any contact with him since Friday.
  • His family is in Georgia. Scott spends part of his time there and the rest in Cincinnati, for work.
  • He had been living in Butler County on and off for several months.
  • LE says there have been no sightings of Scott.

“There are cameras throughout Liberty Center where the apartment complex is,” said Sgt. Ryan Hensley with the Butler County Sheriff's Office. “From cameras we’ve found, there haven’t been any that have picked him up.”

The sheriff's office said it has no leads on Schwarz’s whereabouts and has alerted police departments as far north as Columbus in hopes that someone may have seen him.Officers have gone through his cell phone, computer, and financial records, leading to no answers. They also said there's no evidence of any foul play in Schwarz's apartment.

What a nice smile he has. I wonder if the family has checked hospitals, not for accident but for possible cerebral or neuro issue. My Dad had a mild stroke in his 70's that left him unable to really process who he was or where he was (at the time). He was found fairly quickly (at home on his property) and taken to the hospital and recovered fully (he lived to be 101, healthy til the end). But it's scary how quickly it can happen to someone seemingly healthy and fit.

She (his daughter) flew home to Georgia and said she sent some texts to her father when she landed.

Victoria said none of the messages went through and were showing up as "undelivered."

That's when she told her mom that something wasn't right.

"She said she hadn't spoken to him yet, but he was planning on going into the office, and that's kind of where we expected him to be," Victoria said.

There was no sign of him at the office.

Oh no, this is less than two miles away. :(

Butler County authorities are investigating after a man was found dead in a vehicle.

According to West Chester Police, officials were called Thursday around 1:30 p.m. to a parking lot in the 7300 block of Tylersville Road in West Chester.

Hoping this isn’t the missing man since it’s been reported that his car was left at his residence…but then again, he could’ve had a “company car”/work vehicle.

True. This article gives a little more information - found in a supermarket parking lot, and the vehicle had been there for "quite some time." So, perhaps this isn't Scott. If not, what a coincidence. MOO

Unable to find any updates. I wonder if they have been able to check if he used Uber or Lyft. I’m thinking he could have been headed to the VOA Music Fest. It’s about a 5 minute drive and it was the first night of the event. That could explain why he left his car. Concerned because this is supposed to be a safe area.

Or, what if he walked? It’s about a 45 minute walk. He looks in decent shape in photos, and not sure if he was the type. What if he had some sort of accident at the fest (if he made it), or on the walk to/from? It would have been dark out, and there are a lot of possible hazards around. I wonder if law enforcement has been searching the wilder areas between his apartment and the park?

If they haven’t checked, they need to see if he bought a ticket to the music fest to ascertain if that’s where he was headed.

To Note:
The only lead police have is surveillance video of Schwarz walking out of his apartment in Liberty Township. He was then seen walking down the stairs and out of his apartment complex at 8:13 p.m., wearing a gray CSI t-shirt and dark colored jeans.

There must be blind spots though, right? Otherwise, they should have been able to track him coming out of the apartment. He can’t just disappear into thin air.

He didn’t drive away, so he either left with someone else, left on foot, or is still there.
