Jury Trial For William Inman Underway
Opening statements for the trial of a Hocking County man charged with aggravated murder in the death of his daughter-in-law are underway in Ross County.
The statements took place Monday morning in the trial of William Inman.
The prosecutor told jurors it's reasonable to infer 48-year-old William Inman murdered his 25-year-old daughter-in-law, Summer.
The prosecutor says Inman ruled the family and wanted to help his son, who was in a child custody dispute with the woman.

Man accused of murder to stand trial again on unrelated charges after RCMP miscue
Despite a negligent RCMP investigation that failed to turn over key documents, a Court of Queens Bench Justice has ordered Travis Vader to once again stand trial on eight drug- and firearm-related offences.
Rather than stake out a claim that involved striking down evidence in the capital case involving William Bill Inman, defense attorney Andrew Stevenson delivered an opening statement Monday morning that accepted much of the evidence against his client.
Stevenson even told the court that Inman kidnapped his daughter-in-law, Summer Cook Inman, from the parking lot of Century National Bank on March 22, 2011. Yet while Inman made a poor decision in deciding to take her from the bank, he argued, it was not his intention to murder her.
Lots of gobbeldygook in that opening statement by the defense. The mother in law should testify as part of her plea agreement. He can't get away from this, imo.
Inman’s attorney, Andrew Stevenson, told the jury that his client was in Logan with his son and wife the night Summer was kidnapped, and that they did take her. He went on to say that the Inmans were trying to talk to Summer about the reports alleging abuse on her three children.
Stevenson also said that the elder Inman owned the white Crown Victoria, and that he helped clean the car the day after Summer’s disappearance.
Stevenson told the jury that his client did not kill Summer, but that he was trying to help his son

Witnesses describe discovery of Summer Inman's body
Logan Police Chief Aaron Miller and FBI Special Agent Janell McBain were among the authorities present the night of March 29, 2011 when the body of Summer D. Inman was found thrust head first inside the underground septic tank of Faith Tabernacle Church along Rt. 33 near Nelsonville.
I wish they would have printed the rest of Inman's wife's testimony.
I really doesn't matter, I don't think, whether he blames it on the son or not. They were admittedly committing a felony by kidnapping her, and when she died as a result, they are all guilty. jmo
William Inman II is responsible for pulling that tie, defense attorney Andrew Stevenson said. You will hear testimony that Willie was mad, Willie was unstable, Willie was passionate. Willie took Summers life.

William Inman Sr. is the third and final suspect in the murder of Summer Inman. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder, murder, tampering with evidence, kidnapping and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of Summer.
The defense team for William Inman Sr. focused Tuesday on the items that were found in the suspect's home, and in the white Crown Victoria that they admitted Inman used in the kidnapping of 25-year-old Summer Inman.
