Some random ideas, informed by knowing people whose families have roots in the regions indicated by the recent info-

* She could be partially of Irish descent + other origin. Pittsburgh + other regions of that NorthEastern region were a melting pot in that era. My uncle was from there & his sisters always dated Puerto Rican men (some were ne'er do well types.)

* which brings me to what I was really thinking- Buckskin Girl might have been trafficking drugs and/or hanging around with a guy who did (biker, dealer, etc.) This could explain her weird fashion sense (Deadhead/hippie) plus ending up in a scenario that led to her very violent death. I still lean towards DV but also I have had friends who had dealer boyfriends who resorted to violence a lot more than the average person. (Seems to be part of that lifestyle.) Also if the test results indicate locations from Northeastern US to Southwestern US/Mexico...how the hell did she end up getting dumped in Ohio?

Seriously--Ohio was practically the only part of the country she was not proved to have a link to. Why Ohio?

It would make sense to me if her boyfriend was a drug dealer or someone else involved in illicit activity, with an inclination towards violence. I don't think her murder was premeditated, but I also don't think it was random.

I agree. I think it was a violent outburst that had dire consequences.

To me, that fits in with the violent boyfriend described by Rubies. Gosh, I'm trying not to focus too much on that post, but I really do think that it matches up pretty well.

Even if Rubies' Becky isn't BG, I still think we're looking for someone with a history of violence and anger management issues. I wouldn't be surprised if the killer was in jail before; not at all. I don't think he was a serial killer, but may have a string of arrests for other acts of violence or maybe substance abuse issues.

If she was running around with bikers it's highly likely she was killed by a boyfriend. (Source- one of my relatives was very close to someone who was a Hells Angel in the late 1960s. Sadly a LOT of bikers feel entitled to abuse their girlfriends/wives....& A lot of the women put up with it. A biker lifestyle would explain BG being dumped in a random area because it's easy to travel far on a bike in good weather.)

I think whatever she did for a career/profession/job required traveling and working in the outdoors. It certainly doesn't appear to have been a desk job. She may have just been passing through OH, for whatever reason when fate befell her.

In light of the recent pollen analysis, I wanted to learn more about it. I found this interesting article in the Atlantic-it's well worth the read. I think I want to become a palynologist now~

Interesting. I was wondering if pollen stayed on the clothes after washing and it says that it does. But I was thinking if someone bought some used clothes from a completely different area that would really mess with the investigation. Also I was thinking about isotope testing. What if someone drink very little tap water and mostly drank soda or other drinks with added water that were manufactured in a different isotope area....

It does match up really well, that's why I sent her a PM to try to get her back here to tell us more. Really hope she comes back. There is no email option on her profile

According to the pollen article, they're doing isotopes

The images are a facial reconstruction created by an N.C.M.E.C. forensic artist and depicts what the female may have looked like in life. Additional testing will done in the near future in an attempt to narrow the region/location of the country the unidentified female may have been from.

It seems like most of the local news stations that are connected to the northeast states from the isotopes/pollen testing are reporting BG's story. I'm happy to see that she's getting more media attention, fingers crossed that a new lead comes in soon.

My local paper and tv stations have featured it today, too.

As is evidenced by many of the posters here, Buckskin Girl's story is spreading through the Internet today! A short list of some states that have reported her story include:

- New Jersey
- Massachusetts
- Connecticut
- Ohio
- Kentucky
- Tennessee
- Pennsylvania

I'm sure there's more; these were just the new ones a simple News search for "1981 troy jane doe" yielded.

I haven't heard any news about her where I am, but I live in Washington, and she wasn't shown to have any link to the Northwest.

I was looking up the weather on the local news (since it looks like it could storm) and saw a story about Ms Buckskin.

The headline made me think that they'd narrowed her down to being from Kentucky (where I live), but it's more of a really big range of "what if?"s. I mean, somewhere between Mexico and Massachusetts is a pretty big range.

Hopefully the upcoming "additional testing" will whittle things down a bit. But at least it's clear they're actually doing work on ID'ing her.

Murder victim found in OH 35 years ago may have been from KY
WAVE-3 (Louisville, KY)
4/29/2016
Lab results that were returned on April 24 suggested that Jane Doe was from or spent a significant amount of time in Kentucky or the northeastern dry-oak forest region, which includes areas in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. A high level of soot from vehicle traffic and/or industrial activity also was found on her clothing, indicating she spent a significant amount of time in an urban area.

In addition, some pollen grains on her clothing were in excellent condition. They were from a more arid region in the western U.S. or northern Mexico. Scientists concluded the victim likely traveled to one of those regions shortly before she was killed.
Additional testing will be performed soon in an attempt to narrow the region of the country the unidentified victim may have been from.

From the story I posted and from the story "Glimmer" posted on the page before that...

It seems like basically the same story tailor-made to fit local areas if that area was mentioned. There were a bunch of places she could have been from or recently visited.

Yes, that would affect the isotopes, which really measure where the water you drink is from, not strictly speaking where you are from.

I should drink more tap water. .. just in case.

How does it work with well water? And for modern people, water filtration like brita? I feel like well water would be almost entirely dependent on how the household kept their well, how it was made/dug etc
