I'm a graphic designer and my monitor is color calibrated and, unless the photo is not representative of the true color of the sweats, they're purple.

ETA: It could be that the photo just has a lot of magenta and is turning the dark blue to purple.

Seeing that news broadcast on my TV, they were navy blue.

That's for sure!
Just like the different reports about where Stephanie's vehicle was found, who made the missing persons call, the time of the text from TH to GB, and the different descriptions about the blood found in TH's home.........anything else?

where GB stayed Wed.nite (w/ a friend or his mom)

i thought i read yesterday that the searchers were wearing purple ribbons and t-shirts etc. because it is one of sarah and kody's schools colors. if so, then any local kid could have discarded their sweatpants while out at a bonfire... even if they are an adult size, i am an adult size small - but i have been this size since 8th grade - so i dont think this "adult" size means much until we hear which "adult" size. if its a 2X then we could prolly figure its not a childs or anyone associated in this case that we know of...

LE wants help but there are so many different versions out there.I wish they would release correct info.

From what I'm reading now, it was the tarp and the trash bags that were found at Tina's house.

The reporting is very confusing. Now LE is close mouthed on where the receipt was found. But early on, it was rumored (reported?) that they got MH's address from the receipt. It's near impossible to nail down any facts with all the conflicting reports.

The guy with the group that found the tarp and trashbags said on FB it was by a highway (the French-sounding one) up in the treeline.
In any case these were found by volunteer searchers per reports and they weren't searching inside Tina's house.

How did he know Tina's boyfriend would not be home that night? That is a big question in my mind. I doubt he would have kidnapped them if the boyfriend was at home.Seems like he knew or would he have just taken him too? Just so crazy how 4 people were taken.

I think also that it is entirely possible, that MH’s fingerprints may have been lifted from Tina’s truck or Tina’s house. This info probably wouldn’t of been released due to the investigation. It may not of been solely from the receipt at Walmart.

If MH’s fingerprints would have been entered into IAFIS, it should of lit up like a spaceship, if he only got off of parole last month. And this would have been something LE would have been able to do very quickly, from beer cans or whatever.

My recollection of the news conferences is that the Sheriff would not say where they were found, but I'm not 100% on this one. He was asked though.

That was exactly my point! :) one article says receipt was found @ MH's house, the other says the Sheriff wouldn't say where the receipt was found -- just as you remembered.

I bet if we scrounged around some more, we'd find yet another article that says the receipt was found at Tina's house. ::sigh::

I said I was gonna try not to keep up w/ this because it makes my head hurt and makes me think I'm losing my best brain cells. :banghead:

I don't think any of us have seen reporting so confusing before.

I heard on the local news last night that the mom was wearing black sweatpants, and the son was wearing blue jeans. I remember that distinctly, because I thought to myself, "now there's a switch, usually it's the pre-teen wearing sweats and the mom dressed a little neater in jeans." So I guess I don't understand why some posts are discounting the sweatpants because they were adult size, unless the color was off (didn't see any posts regarding color found, but I haven't gone back through everything).

Under the subhead "Tuesday's News Conference," 2nd paragraph:

"A deputy searching Herrmann's home last week found an "unusual" amount of blood inside. Barber said Tuesday that items found in the home, including a tarp and trash bags, are significant to the investigation."

I'm not contradicting you, just highlighting that the "facts" seem to change daily.

I feel a little sorry for the Sherriff, he probably gets confused too!

He doesn't want to exclude the community, and/or those searching but, he walks a fine line between what he can say and what he can't.

I feel sure they know loads more than what they are letting on. We are only getting crumbs, and confusing crumbs at that! LOL!

First and foremost, aside from finding the victims, I’m sure LE of all kinds involved, want to get this guy into trial, and get him convicted! With no fishy stuff on the defense’s part. Like compromised info.

My gut feeling tells me that Stephanie was the first one "subdued" and that MH only had Tina and the two children to contend with, not four.

Apologies to any family or friends reading this. This is just my speculation at this point based on the "reports" that Sarah never saw Stephanie during her abduction. (And I use the word "reports" loosely as they change so quickly.)

So - unless we hear/heard something with our own ears from the Sheriff, or GB or any other family members, in their words coming from their mouths on video or audio - it's hard to rely on info from most of the msm articles.

I can't recall another case where it was like this! Small details different from one article to the next. Sheesh.

this is all so messed up

He also says a Wal-Mart receipt listing tarps and trash bags has been found, but would not say where or when.

It IS messed up Tx. Mist!!
here's another example:

It is unclear when anyone last saw or heard from Sprang. Her Jeep was found inside the garage at her home on Magers Road, just around the corner from Herrmann’s house.
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The children were in school Wednesday, but not Thursday, the sheriff said. Sprang's vehicle was found at Herrmann's house, he added
CNN

Absolutely agree

I heard from the sheriff's mouth at the first press conference that the jeep was found in the garage at Tina's house.

It's been reported at least four or five different ways in the media. It's maddening!

Honestly, I've paid more attention to the press conferences than the news articles. They have to sell papers/get ratings, and sometimes their headlines/teasers just irritate me to no end. What I have noticed too, is that a lot of the innaccurate info. is coming from sources that get their info. secondhand. Perhaps just pay attention to local sources: 10TV has been here since beginning (out of Columbus) and I've always considered them the most reliable. Mt. Vernon News is trying to get it right I think, but are slow to update anything. But it's like anything, we can all hear the same thing said, and interpret it differently perhaps.

And that sounded like I was defending media, which must signal it's time for me to take a break! I do understand what you're saying.

ETA: Speaking of local media, Columbus is the nearest big city. 10TV is the local CBS station. The local ABC, NBC and Fox channels are all owned by the same company. Any reporting credited to these 3 are all from the same source.

Well, those pressers need transcribing because some of the things that got printed in the papers is NOT what was said.
