Thanks, Kimster, if any case needed featuring, this one does!

Read both of these threads while my step-dad was in surgery today. I hope that spotlighting this case brings answers because MMD and her family really deserve them. Joe sounds like he was such a wonderful man and his family should not have to continue to suffer without knowing who is responsible for this terrible crime.

I've just finished reading through both threads and first and foremost, my deepest sympathies to MMD--what a terrible and senseless tragedy.

I know there have been issues about naming the GF and she has been talked "around" without a name.

In reviewing Leflore Co court records for "Neff", I see Joe's ex-wife (MMD's mom?) took out a protective order in October of 2009 against a TM. That same TM had a couple of other court cases in and around May of 2009 that I thought people would find interesting, financially speaking.

Am I allowed to post the link to the court records on the protective order of SN? It isn't MSM but is the Oklahoma court system, thus public record, but I don't want to go out of bounds.....

TIA for advice.

Ok, The Cold Case Specialist we hired is awesome!!! He is not from our small town. He is from a bigger city. To clarify the OSBI did look at strip pit for evidence. I do not know in what manner they searched whether it was divers or whatever. The team that dove for us actually DONATED their services so Praise God for them!!! The new evidence is being processed and we will see where it leads us. I am praying so hard that we are getting closer to finding the cold hearted monsters that took my dads life. Thank you all so much for the bumps. Lets hope that the media is going to pick up speed on this also. Someone knows something, time will reveal it..... (((hugs)))

This is MMD's last post---back in early February....I hope that she hasn't been back on because she/LE has significant information/leads that are being pursued and have to be done so quietly--from the new evidence or from the PI? Has anyone heard from her since this post?

chinacat67,
FWIW, I have always been suspicious of the girlfriend. Not that she was necessarily the one directly involved in the murder but, that someone within her life may have been. Even someone in passing that she may have mentioned Joe to. At one point, MMD asked me to look at the case and write up an offender profile. The POI that could not escape my scrutiny was the girlfriend. I never could garner much info about her because no one would reveal her name to me. I always thought that was odd.

MMD...let me just say that I'm still praying for you. I've read this from the beginning...

I've been going over the threads and after some careful consideration...This is a theory that I've come up with...

After Joe was at the auto parts store, he received a phone call, from someone he knew, saying that they needed help, (or they ran into him on purpose to ask for help) in a hurry...most likely money. They would meet your dad at the bar...but he had to hurry...Your dad, being the kind and generous soul, went home, got the money from the safe and in the hurry to meet the person he wanted to help, he shut the door to the room and not the safe, thinking that he'd be back in a little while or by evening to close the safe...the door to the room was locked and that would do for now. This is why only some of the money was taken from the safe and some was left in the safe and there was nothing out of place at his home. My thought is that if someone had gotten in to get money from the safe they'd have taken everything not just some.

He gets to the bar and meets the person he knows at the door and unlocks the door to let them go in/gets there and goes in to wait for them to show up. It is once the door is unlocked that the actual perpetrators rush him and the scuffle ensues in the bar which ends with his murder.

Did the person that called him actually do the deed? may be, may be not...but he was surprised....

I in NO WAY believe your dad had any connections to anything illegal or bad, I think the way this is connected is that the person that called him to the bar for help did. May be they didn't know that the people they were dealing with would kill him or may be they did...but I don't think he would have gone there without someone "baiting" him to get him there...with the money.

After the confrontation, I think they panicked. I don't know if they meant to kill him or if one of the men lost control...but once they shot him they needed to get rid of the body, they likely knew that people would start showing up soon and they wanted to just run but were afraid to leave him where he'd be found right away.

They put him in the pick up and put something over him, a tarp or wrapped him in a tarp and left....

I'm sorry that it's so graphic...but I just keep thinking that for some reason, someone told him they needed help aka money real fast and that to me is the only reason that only some money would be taken from the safe and the door left unlocked, he was in a hurry.

In this scenario, I have to wonder who would your dad care enough about that he would drop everything and run? They may not have even been there they may have been compelled by the perps to just make the phone call/meet him.

I think of you often, MMD and hope they find out who did this and you get the justice for your dad.

It's nice to see some new faces on this thread! Thanks everyone for joining us here!

Sneezy - I'm totally with you on your theory.

Thanks Blondie....I've put a lot of thought into it...I just wish MMD had answers if not justice.

Sneezy, I agree that your theory makes the most sense. To the question of who would Joe have cared enough about to drop everything and help -- Anyone who he thought needed his help! That's just who he was. He was well loved in town, and he would never turn a blind eye to someone who asked him for help.

I agree that it's very likely that someone may have been compelled to call him to set up a trap for him at the bar. He was NOT ignorant to safety and was a very smart man. The surprise factor had to have been thought-out and staged. He was a large man and it would have taken alot to subdue him.

I pray for justice and hope that, as others have said, MMD's silence is a reflection that the investigation continues and has not stalled.

I hope all is well with MMD and that progress is somehow being made to find/prosecute whoever is responsible.

The gf has always been a person of suspicion in my mind. I can see the possibility of her having enough influence on Joe to get him to willingly give/lend money to someone that may be involved in his death.

Prayers for you and your family MMD. Also for justice.

I too am suspicious of the GF. I think someone very close to him was involved.

I have been reading this since the beginning and I am baffled! Praying for resolution and justice for Joe and family.

On May 2, 2011, The Poteau Daily News printed that they would be publishing an update on the case within the next week. As far as I can tell, they never did. Wonder why?:waitasec:

I am praying that her silence might mean that they are getting closer to making an arrest. Crosses fingers

Nice, now you have it! Perhaps he went to meet a trusted business associate that wanted money repaid, loaned, thought was owed him? Watch for the Spider!

There had to have been incriminating evidence in the safe that was important for someone to get to and murder Neff for. Who did he have business dealings with?

I would guess he had bussiness dealing with alot of people , the incriminating evidence may not have been in the safe,it might have been at the bar. I am thinking more like an open title or something a land deed held as security maybe but not logged maybe expensive machines. Whatever motive the was ,it was not money.IMO.

I must just state that I am very happy to see this case featured.
