I bet the "Didn't Do" column is much larger.Wow, OkieGranny, I had completely forgotten about the commissioners scandal.
And you and me both, SeriouslySearching. I would love to see firsthand what all LE actually did and didn't do to thoroughly investigate.

Still #1 for the 15th straight year on my Cases I'd Most Like to See Solved list
While LE did miss his body, it was found. I believe the girls would have been found, too. Another question is the surrounding area and the search for the girls. Did they do grid searches for them? Could the girls have gotten outside then dropped a distance away? Was there a pond nearby and was it drained? For me it's a tie between this case and The Springfield Three.
ETA: Could it have been possible Lauria and Ashley were in the trailer when it burned down but they were just so badly decomposed/burnt that they missed their bodies? They didn't notice Danny Freeman's at first...

15 years ago this month. Heartwrenching for the Bible family. Hoping to catch new sets of eyes on this case with this BUMP! We need new ideas.
Thank you Don't you just love him?
I just stumbled on this thread yesterday while looking up other cold cases in SW MO. I am a LE officer from SW MO and this is a very interesting case. I remember hearing about it when it happened but did not know much about it. There is a lot going on here but just from reading through this and other sites it sounds like there is some very good information out there. Knowing what I know about NE OK the drug theory seems credible but I find it hard to believe that people have not talked but now. It seems that the people in that area all know one another and could not keep this a secret this long.
My mom is from there and I spent many summers visiting my grandma there. Hope to move there some dayI'm in Northwest Arkansas (Rogers), but I want to say thank you for looking into cold cases. They are often forgot about.
If it's LE involvement, then it's going to be forgotten.
Do you think that any of those involved might have passed away, been murdered, or just left the area immediately? In your opinion, do you think it was someone known to the families (local) or more of a passing through type crime? Same questions to you, wf. I grew up in Tulsa but was much more of a city girl, not familiar with too many rural areas unless my dad was working on a well nearby.
I would guess that those involved did not move away, but possibly passed away. There are not that many murders in the NE OK, SE KS area. It's possible that it was someone who knew the families or at least the father. The girls were probably just at the wrong place at the wrong time and not intended to be part of the crime. I still think there are a few people around that know what happened. Assuming it was meth related the users and cooks do not tend to live long lives and some of them are probably dead.
It does seem like a very solvable case or could have been had it been done right from the beginning. When you miss a body during the initial investigation and leave a bunch of weapons outside for days then no one else knows what else was missed or destroyed. Crucial info is gained within the first few hours or days of the crime and they simply did not get the info. Could LE be involved? I would like to say no but anything is possible, I would say its more likely that they were not directly involved in the murders but the subsequent cover up. I still think that drugs are the most likely motive for this.
I also had some issues with their time line on when the fire was set. Trailer homes burn very fast and hot, like an oven and if accelerants were used to start the fire (likely were) then the entire trailer should have been destroyed within 30 minutes or so. If someone spotted the trailer still somewhat standing and on fire on their way to work then it probably had been set within 30 minutes to no more than an hour prior to the report. I think that someone had said that they estimated the fire to have been set around midnight and I just don't think there is any way thats possible.
I don't see the Freeman trailer as being a meth lab, but it's not impossible...
I agree on the initial investigation, absolutely.
I'm sorry, I still think local LE had something to do with this... There's just too much going that direction. And I can't shake that DeAnna Dorsey murder in Vinita.
[emoji35] wow. Just wow.Another issue (that is probably buried in the many pages of this), is the fact that OSBI released reports about two vehicles seen in the area over 10 years after the incident.
