Identified! OK - Logan Co., Male, 25-40, burned in field, Jan'14 - Shawn Masters

He's a 25-40 year old man of unknown race, who was found burned in a field in Langston, OK. He had only been dead for hours. There's a sketch and some info on his tats (one is the seal of the Cherokee Nation) at the link.

The victim’s hands were bound and his body was thrown in a burn pile.

Chief Deputy Stephens says the victim was college-aged and probably Native American.
On his right upper chest, he had a tattoo of the Cherokee Nation seal.
On his right shoulder, he had the symbol of the bull skull and horned snake, known as Uktena.

And police are questioning two suspects.

Not looking at the recon pic because it's awful, I think he could be a match although no tattoos reported.

He'd be a long way from home and of course we don't know if he has Cherokee heritage, but he seems like a candidate.

Even less info on this guy. I like the circumstances better but no word on if he has Cherokee heritage. Also, Namus lists him as being 5'1", which is tiny. Possible it's supposed to be 6'1" instead of 61".

Here some info on the Cherokee Nation. Based on this, my guess is our Doe is from Oklahoma and hasn't been reported missing.

Investigators hope potential forensic reconstruction of facial features by OSBI forensic artists will lead to identification of a Logan County homicide victim.

Logan County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Richard Stephens said the homicide investigation from Jan. 31 at Hiwassee Road and County Road 75 has stalled, but work continues on trying to solve the case nonetheless.

At the scene, amidst a reported grass fire, first responders found the bound and burned remains of an adult male. Stephens said forensic reconstruction of facial features would allow investigators to photograph the reconstruction as though it were a person’s face.

The Logan County Sheriff's Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation have identified the victim whose burned body was found late January near Langston, Okla.

Officials said the homicide victim is 38-year-old Shawn Luther Masters of Blanchard, Okla...

Logan County Chief Deputy Richard Stephens said the identification was made by citizens who recognized Masters after seeing reports in the media.

Maybe there was a sketch on the UID listing on NamUs? That profile has been restricted now so I can't say for sure.

Here's the sketch they released to help ID him. IMO, about the only thing they got right was maybe the nose.
