Stillwater Police Department and Noble County Sheriff’s Office are working a missing person’s case. Samuel Cade Crawford was last seen at Bill’s Corner in Morrison at approximately 4:15 p.m. on August 29, 2023. He has not been seen or heard from since.

He drives a 2014 white Ram 2500 bearing Oklahoma tag GOE862. The pickup is lifted with larger tires, and a large aftermarket brushguard with lights.

Morrison has a population of just over 700 people.
 
Michael Somers, 21, was arrested and booked into the Payne County Jail on Sept. 8 on complaints of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, larceny of motor vehicle, knowingly concealing stolen property and operating a chop shop.

State agents said that’s when they found an alleged chop shop, somewhere near VFW Rd. and Prairie Rd. in Glencoe, allegedly operated by 21-year-old Christopher Michael Somers.

“During that search they discovered parts of Crawford’s vehicle,” said McKee. “When they noticed parts of his vehicle, they executed a search warrant, and when they were searching that area they found a deceased male.”

Another of Somers’ acquaintances told authorities that Somers proposed to kill another man, claiming “to have barrels of battery acid which he intended to use to dispose of [the potential victim’s] body.”

“[Witness] further stated that Somers told them if they told anyone about this plan to kill [potential victim] and/or Sam, that he, Somers, would kill them or have them killed,” the affidavit reads.

Somers has been charged with Murder in the First Degree.

According to a new court filing Crawford was working at a welding shop in Morrison, when he began having problems with his truck.

A search warrant said Crawford asked his boss to put him in touch with Somers.

Somers was heard saying, "I can get him to hang out with me and I'll take care of him."

The witness also told investigators Somers was paid to kill people.

According to investigators “Somers is the last person to see Crawford before his disappearance,” but when questioned has “changed his story” and given “conflicting information.”

The Payne County District Attorney's office is seeking the death penalty against a Glencoe man who was accused of murdering Stillwater's Samuel Cade Crawford.

Christopher Michael Sommers, 22, was charged with first-degree murder on Sept. 14, 2023, after Crawford's body was discovered in rural Payne County. ...

"The defendant has utter disregard for human suffering and the value of the life of Samuel Crawford, which establishes the defendant will be likely to commit future acts of violence and would be a continuing threat to society," the bill of particulars read.

Thomas wrote in the bill of particulars that Sommers had said he "kills people" and was actively recruiting people to help him commit murders.

Based on the information gathered, Ritter was arrested on May 28, 2024, and booked into the Payne Co.
