Missing Tulsa woman has family worried

"I’ve done everything I know to do, I don't even know who to turn to anymore," said William Barnes (husband).

"She told me that she had some guy come and pick her up that she was going for a job and that she was going to clean a house, that it needed a woman’s touch and it was good money. So I assumed that everything was OK," he said.

"We got the call on July 29th," said Deputy Justin Green of the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

Article contains more of the husband’s interview...quite worrisome for sure! IMO.

Video at link includes a brief interview with Stephanie's husband. She left everything behind, so hopefully LE can trace her phone and online activity to see who she was in contact with prior to leaving. I hope they find her quickly.

"She’s on drugs and she talks about the drugs a lot and the pain and the need and the want for the drugs and stuff like that and I’ve told her, 'Stephanie you don’t need the drugs, the drugs may be what’s causing the problem, allow your body to heal and see what happens, you know,'" said B. [snip] "All I can tell them is to put their self in my shoes that loves someone as much as I love her and see how you feel," said B.

I understand if they're used to her taking off for a few days and then turning up... but what I don't get it why it took her family over two weeks to report her missing? ]

The story about the call is very vague. Did she usually get rides places? Did she usually pick up jobs on a moment's notice? A good friend of my family's has her own cleaning business, and she doesn't drive, so she gets rides to the homes she cleans. There is no such thing as a "moment's notice" type job. She has to plan it with the homeowners and with the family members that give her rides. Coordinating that takes at least several days.

I'm thinking SAB maybe just told her husband that it was a cleaning job, but it was something else, she didn't want him knowing about. And that something else went wrong :(

perhaps someone recognized her troubles with addiction...
and took her to a rehab place?

sounds far fetched... but grabbing at straws here...
Yes, "taken to a house to get clean" would be the best case scenario, wouldn't it be nice if it was all a misunderstanding?
They don't let you have your cell phone in a lot of rehabs, anyway.
Seems like wishful thinking but anything's possible.

Even with HIPPA laws if in a case like this Stephanie is in a rehab lawfully they'd be permitted to tell she is at that facility. Same as person skipping court or a witness to a crime etc.

My hope is she didn't OD and someone dumped her or she used alone in some abandoned house and OD. JMO that she planned to go cop drugs so she left everything so not to be traced or fear of getting busted. Nobody wants to have ID if busted.

Sadly her husband as much as he tried was talking to the wall if she was still using. You're not talking to "Stephanie " you're talking to drugs.

@everybodhi your positive thoughts are out there helping Stephanie.

Sometimes I think it's shame or guilt that family wait to report anyone in addiction missing. They figure this time they're really out there. They probably searched on their own as well.

Agree with you Stephanie's something else could have went wrong.

Also agree about no spur of the moment house cleaning job, but the bonded person who has the business often get addicts they know to help clean and pay them a sparse amount in cash. Shady people that is. Her husband's meter should have went off when he heard "cash". Addicts can't have cash. Not his fault. You trust people you love.

I'd have a couple of questions, if i were a LE. Like is there anybody else who saw Stephanie that day? Do her family or acquitances know anything about her drug addiction and her habit of hanging out in the homeless camps? I feel for Stephanie's husband if she really is an addict, as having a person with drug issues in the family is unbelievably hard. I do think, though, the LE should check all the circumstances here very very thoroughly.

Finally! We have some great news this week.

Where has she been for three weeks. I wonder…

Yesterday: “She is known to have some friends that live in the homeless camps along the river, so she is known to be there checking in on them. Maybe someone down there has seen her but obviously, that can be a risky area to spend time at so that gives us added concern for her safety,” said Casey Roebuck with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.

There’s a park with a river close on 71st and Riverside:
