34-year-old Flor Ontiveros is now facing two child abuse charges after allegedly trying to drown her four-year-old daughter and six-year-old nephew at Will Rogers Aquatic Center in June.

Agree with what @LadyL said, why no attempted murder charge? moo

An Oklahoma woman is in police custody after she allegedly tried to drown her daughter and her nephew at a public pool earlier this summer, police allege.

Flor Ontiveros, 34, was accused of “smiling” and ignoring onlookers who pleaded with her to stop holding the two children underwater, according to an Oklahoma City Police Department incident report made on June 27.

No one intervened? I'm sorry, but a pool skimmer pole up side her head would have taken that smile off her face, and I'm betting she would have turned loose of those babies! moo

Yes, absolutely agree that the powers that be should up the charges to attempted murder -- there were the words "attempted to drown" in news reports, FWIW. There were witnesses that saw what she did.
Just glad that the children survived and that the mother is away from them.
