[h=3]Details of Disappearance[/h] Erickson was last seen in Sweet Home, Oregon on October 21, 1973. That day, her children attended church without their parents. Erickson's husband stated he and Erickson planned to go hunting while the children were in church.

He said she changed her mind about going hunting and he dropped her off at a local store, and this is the last time he saw her. She has never been heard from again. Erickson was a regular churchgoer in 1973 and played the piano for the church.

Erickson was not reported missing for several months. The investigation into her disappearance uncovered evidence that her husband was abusing their children, and he faced criminal charges.

Little evidence is available in Erickson's disappearance, but she is considered missing under suspicious circumstances.

This poor lady! I wonder if anyone in the family is looking for her :( And her children, I wonder what happened with them after she "disappeared" and the father faced criminal charges.
Hello, I am her granddaughter. We are still looking her. There have been several sets of remains found but none have been a DNA match. The kids were separated and moved to different foster care homes. They never lost touch with each other. David served 7 of his 10 sentenced years. His stint in prison did not change him. He continued to allegedly molest female family members until he was too ill to do so. He died in 2005 of congestive heart failure and lung cancer.
The oldest daughter had her own family and has several grandchildren now and is a wonderful aunt.
The twins, one of which was the one that he was sent to prison for raping, died within a year of each other, one in 2010 and one in 2011. They lived troubled lives but they were wonderful, loving aunts.
My dad, the oldest son, has had a full life and is a grandfather, soon to be great-grandfather. He has been married to my mom for almost 40 years. He is currently writing his memoirs, as is his oldest sister.
The youngest son is also still alive and kicking, and is as ornery as ever.
The youngest daughter is also alive and doing well and is always laughing.

After Grandma went missing, Grandpa has another child with a different woman who lived in town and who had had a crush on him. She eventually left him, before he went to prison, saying that he was a monster. He also tried to teach one of my cousins the "tricks of the trade".

I have lived with this situation my whole life and it divides my family to this day.

How terrible what happened in your family I hope that one day you can find the peace you deserve so much I can only say that your grandfather was a monster an abominable being that brought suffering and sadness to your family I am glad that your aunts and uncles are happy despite of the abuse of his own father ...

Please keep us updated. I found your grandmothers case on Charley Projec and it always struck me as so outrageous that David got away with such horrendous acts. How on earth did he get away with clearly murdering his wife? The motive is so obvious! Hearing even a glimpse of any of your life stories would be incredible. Even as a podcast!

The Vanished Podcast just released an episode about Virginia's disappearance.
Her story made me so sad, not just for her, but also for her children. The husband was a sick human being.

October 21, 1973, was a Sunday. Typically, 32-year-old Virginia Erickson would attend church on Sundays, where she played the piano. But on that particular Sunday, Virginia and her husband, David, were going hunting instead. Virginia and David's nephew picked up their six children that morning from their home in Sweet Home, Oregon, and brought them to church. When the children returned, their mother was gone. David never reported his wife missing. Virginia had previously maintained consistent contact with her family in Washington, but they also stopped hearing from her. Disturbing information would later surface about what was happening inside the Erickson home, information that could be the motive behind Virginia Erickson's disappearance.

If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Virginia Erickson, please contact the Linn County Sheriff's Office at (541) 967-3950.

Such brave and selfless family members, telling their truth, hoping not only find her remains, but also helping others who have experienced their own trauma.

Yes, I agree. It broke my heart listening to this episode. Her poor children, it makes me sick that father abuses his children, and to me it seemed like he had no remorse.

Hoping that Virginia will soon be found (or identified) so she can be brought home to her family. Although it would not change the past, it may bring some peace and closure for her loved ones.

Did your grandfather ever had to register as a sex offender?
