Honored Othram could assist Buffalo Police Department & the FBI in identifying a 1988 Jane Doe as Sonya Yvette Archie, last seen that year. We are grateful for the support of RTI, NamUs, and the NIJ in funding the case.

This is her UID thread: Identified! - NY - Buffalo, Pauline & Kensington, NativeFem 20-25, 565UFNY, narrow nose, jogging suit, Mar'89 - Sonya Yvette Archie

Othram's forensic laboratory has been accredited by ANAB to the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards for Forensic Testing and Calibration Laboratories, for SNP testing utilizing Massively Parallel Sequencing (MPS). Now you can leverage Othram's testing, which has powered more forensic genetic genealogy solves than any other method, within an accredited forensic setting.

Amazing article about this case on ABC News (Australia) today!

Like the article says, bones submerged in salt water for ~95 years produced a DNA profile. This is the magic of what we do at Othram. We can build highly sensitive profiles from nearly any forensic input.

There is no reason that we should not apply the technique to other cases, especially violent crimes.

(Should not?)

It's a wonderful, exciting case to show the potential. It gives me enormous hope for all the cases where remains are still available to be tested.

At this point, the hurdles are not scientific. We just need folks to demand it and prioritize it. Then it will get done.
