Death penalty sounds good to me too although I'm not sure how much that means here in PA. Life on death row more likely?

How does someone set out to do something like this? What forms in their mind that this is going to be a good thing for them to do? To get some sort of pleasure from another's suffering? I will never understand that.

And don't they think about the fact that when they are caught, their life is over? Or don't they care?

I'd like to better understand the mental mechanics that goes along with forming the intent to do something so hideous.

At least we know there will be justice in this case unlike so many others. RIP Ashley.

Perhaps their original plan was to threaten and scare poor Ashley as she may have known about some illegal activities they were involved in. I will never be able to comprehend what makes people so evil! MOO

This is exactly how I perceive this. I came over here to see if there was an update, and ended up being horrified. I cannot believe what happened against this child. There has to be a special piece of heaven for Ashley.

My whole heart is with those who miss her.

Totally agree. Im so saddened and sick. The people that could do something like this need to be locked up the rest of their lives or worse. They are far too dangerous to be walking the streets.

It's hard to see, but he's wearing an anti-suicide smock in this mugshot. It's green with velcro on the shoulders (which can be partially seen, here) and is only worn by inmates on suicide watch. There's no elastic and it's tear resistant so they can't use it to hang themselves. What a coward.

Nature vs. nurture: Bullies are product of their environment

When I describe my hometown of Lancaster County, Pa., to people who don’t know it, I tend to make it sound as “Little House on the Prairie” as possible: beyond rural, with inescapable Christian values and cornfields coating the landscape.

Needless to say, my home is a hugely significant part of my life. But, about two weeks ago, when performing my daily Facebook newsfeed scan, I noticed not all was right back in Lancaster.

So naturally, I looked into the situation.

I almost wish I hadn’t. Two men, Adam Lynch, 21, and Ryan Schannauer, 19, were charged by local police with the killing of Ashley Kline, 23. The murder allegedly occurred after the three got in an argument on their way to the movies, prompting Lynch to pull over in a secluded area, after which Schannauer reportedly pulled her out of the car. According to the affidavit, “Lynch told the troopers that he made sure Kline did not escape while Schannauer pushed her under the fence. Lynch then told police he observed Schannauer stab Ashley Kline multiple times.”

Further in the affidavit, “Schannauer admitted to police that he and Adam Lynch conspired to ‘scare’ Ashley Kline ... [He] then admitted to ... dousing Ashley Kline with gasoline while she was still alive. He then stated Lynch ignited Kline and then both men left the area.”

Ashley's mom has been in a coma for 6 years. I don't know how much tragedy one poor family is supposed to take.

It seems like Lynch has been cooperating with LE and providing details, but didn't think to try and get the death penalty taken off the table before he did so? Or maybe he just though he was going to blame everything on Schannauer, and walk away free?
