Woman pleads guilty in missing Altoona woman's disappearance, death

A woman involved in the disappearance and death of an Altoona woman back in 2015 pleaded guilty in court Monday morning.

Originally facing half a dozen charges, the Blair County District Attorney's Office says Samantha Mussleman pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to abuse a corpse, a second degree misdemeanor.

Prosecutors say she was sentenced to serve one to two years in prison, but was given credit for 17 months of time served. Officials say she will likely be released this week and will serve another seven months on probation.

Copley trial jury seated

A jury has been seated to hear homicide, aggravated assault and related charges filed against an Altoona man accused of killing his wife, whose decomposed body was found about five years ago in a garage behind a vacant city house.

Michael D. Copley, 33, is scheduled for a five-day trial starting Monday at the Blair County Courthouse on charges associated with the death of 29-year-old Catherine Copley of Altoona.

Her body was found in June 2016, about six months after she was reported missing in December 2015.
