After two years, Christopher Story's family still holds out hope for the missing man

The family, too, has continued its own investigation, passing on tips to the police and searching clues from Facebook friends and acquaintances of Story. And as the two-year anniversary approached this week, his marked absence has hit home for them again. They are reinforcing their appeal for someone to come forward who knows what might have happened to him.

"We are our own private investigators. We've been looking into things on our own," Stoops said. She knows her brother's Facebook password and who is friends are, but so far, nothing has turned up any clues.

"He's gone. Everything is left behind," she said.

The family of a Lawrence County man who has been missing for more than three years wants federal law enforcement agents to get involved in the case...

While there have been unconfirmed sightings over the last three years, the family said not knowing is the worst part.

This is so sad Chris may well still be alive, living amongst the homeless somewhere; lost, confused and paranoid.

Today I was reading about another case where a mentally ill man went missing after abandoning his car. LE wouldn't help his family to search for him because they said he's an adult, and it's not a crime to be mentally ill and wandering lost or living on the street, and without any evidence of foul play or evidence to pinpoint exactly where he might be they could not spend the resources on looking for him

Details of Disappearance
Story was last seen in New Castle, Pennsylvania at 11:00 p.m. on August 11, 2013. He left behind his cellular phone charger, wallet, medications and beloved dog. Although he had left home before, his family was always able to locate him. After his 2013 disappearance, he was never heard from again.

According to Story's family, he had no history of abusing street drugs. He was on disability at the time of his disappearance, didn't work and wasn't driving, but would often ride the city bus to get where he needed to go. His relationship with his fiancee ended a few months before he disappeared. His case remains unsolved.

This August marks 9 years that Story has been missing. Police say that during that time, Story’s family has experienced worry, despair, and frustration trying to locate or find out what happened to him.

A reward has been offered for anyone with credible information which leads to the location of Story or the circumstances of his disappearance.

Story was 40 years old when he went missing. He is described as a white male, estimated Height: 6'1", estimated Weight: 160 lbs., thin build, Hair Color: Brown, Eye Color: Blue, scars on legs, may walk with a limp.

Story is prescribed medication. Without those medications, he may hallucinate and appear confused, irritated, or jittery.

Lawrence County Coroner Rich “R.J.” Johnson said Thursday night he has positively identified a human skull and other skeletal remains found Feb. 11 in a wooded area off Route 168 in Taylor Township as those of Story.
