I agree. Next to knowing her name, for me, I'm curious about the initials on the ring, since we've had numerous discussions about them over the years. But if they turned out to be her initials, I can see why they wouldn't release that information, as it most likely would lead to us discovering her name.

She was mentioned on another case here as a possible match, but after reading she's been identified and wasn't reported missing, she must not be the other MP.

The Philadelphia case is witheld due to active investigations and probably sensitive information ive heard (I guess crime/drug related).
Not sure if there is a law that names have to be released if there is no investigation. I guess it is up to the family and LE.

There is no law.
If and when someone is charged with her murder, her name would likely become public record. That is because the charges would state the name of the defendant and victim.

Other than that, there is no obligation.

I have absolutely no idea if this is the case, this is speculation only, but I'm wondering if they have her still listed on NamUs so that, in the event they find skeletal remains in the area that they believe could belong to her, they could compare them to her stats in CODIS?

She was identified a little over a year ago but they only just removed her from NamUs.

Her name wasn't released at the request of her family.

This case is one which remains an unsolved homicide. If there was a killer involved, then releasing the victim's name could result in the killer's identification and capture.

The family was certainly afforded their privacy, since LE knew her name for over a year before they thought it important enough to mention that she had been identified. Did they state beyond any doubt that her death was not something intentional?

Ultimately we don’t know what LE knows. If the family doesn’t want a victim’s name released we need to honor that. Harper Jane Doe’s name was never released. That doesn’t mean her killer won’t be caught or they don’t know who he is.

And this lady in Philly (Kensington) - clearly a homicide. Her name, AFAIK, has never been released.
