Woman missing since September is found dead in the basement of a South Philadelphia row house
[...]

There were no apparent signs of trauma, the Police Department said in a statement, correcting earlier information given by the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office that the body had been dismembered. Acting Police Commissioner Christine Coulter told reporters Friday morning that the house had a strong odor that would be impossible for anyone inside the house to ignore.

No arrests have been made, the police statement said.

Authorities made the discovery while officers were serving an arrest warrant on the 2100 block of Porter Street.

Authorities believe it is the remains of a missing woman who was reported missing on Sept. 27. However, they are still working to confirm her identity.

Police: Decomposed, dismembered body found in basement believed to be missing 18-year-old woman
Noting:
  • A tip led to discovery of the body at the Porter Street residence.
  • While searching the home, the body was found in a tub in the basement.
  • Five people in the home are being questioned and one suspect was detained on robbery charges.
Some more info, the body is still a Jane Doe but they think whoever it was a victim to human trafficking. The article also says the body was found in a plastic bin in the basement. Must’ve been so terrifying... how could someone do that and just continue to live in that house? All five people had to smell it... I want to hear more and get a fuller idea of what happened to that poor girl.

Dismembered body found amid human trafficking investigation in South Philadelphia
  • At this time, her death appears to be accidental.
  • However, sources say someone may be charged with abuse of corpse as no one notified authorities that she had died - instead, they say, her body was placed in a bin in the basement.
  • LE sources say the 18-year-old may have died of an overdose.
  • Officials with the Philadelphia Sheriff's Office arrived to the home Thursday night to serve a robbery warrant. The PPD's Special Victims Unit joined the sheriff's office at the scene, working on a tip for a case of possible human trafficking.
  • "Special Victims Unit was coming out here with our sheriffs to deal with an issue of human trafficking. They were looking for a missing female who was approximately 18 years old," Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal said.
  • Once at the scene, authorities found five people, three males and two females. Some lived at the home, according to Bilal.
  • One of the females was listed on the warrant for not appearing in court for a robbery charge, sources said. The female and the four others were taken into custody.

DA: Woman charged after teen's body found in South Philadelphia basement

How awful. I'm glad they found the missing teen but so sad they found him dead in this woman's basement.

It will be interesting to learn what happened to the poor teen boy. Its chilling she's been charged with abuse of his corpse. Fgs, what did she do to him???

Thanks for starting the thread Linda.

Such awful displays of inhumanity in Philadelphia -
This was today’s news...

this story about the teen in the basement

4 people were just charged with murder - beat & stuffed someone in a garbage can.

A body was found inside a torched burning Jeep

and it’s only Tuesday ....

We in south jersey refer to it as “Killadephia”

Thanks for the thread, @Linda7NJ.. Sounds a bit kinky and a lot horrible. And what's the meaning of "MORE ARRESTS EXPECTED"? Some kind of ritual, or initiation, or "they just didn't like her," or did she do something to provoke what was done?
Quoted from the article above, "Deputies from the sheriff’s office were serving an arrest warrant at the time." So were they there for an entirely different reason when they went into the house -- or did I just misunderstand?

Here's an article I just found -- interesting info, IMO --
Woman charged with abuse of corpse in case of missing teen found dead in South Philly basement
Philadelphia police have charged one person in connection with the death of Erin Schweikert, whose remains were discovered wrapped in plastic and inside a plastic tub in a South Philly basement last week.
Maddison Leidy, 25, lived in the home on the 2100 block of Porter Street where Schweikert's body was found. She is charged with tampering with evidence, conspiracy, abuse of a corpse, and related offenses in connection with the discovery of the missing 18-year-old, police said.
[...]
Court records show that, in 2016, Leidy pleaded guilty in a robbery case. She was sentenced to probation and was imprisoned twice for violating her probation.
Investigators still believe the case is tied to human trafficking and the investigation is ongoing.
