A Pennsylvania boy was fatally shot Saturday, allegedly while trying to escape from a registered sex offender in a Harrisburg neighborhood.
On Saturday at about 12:55 p.m., residents of North 18th and Forster streets in Harrisburg said they saw a boy, identified by ABC 27 and family members as Kyan King, 16, naked and terrified as he ran from a man chasing him with a gun, the Harrisburg Bureau of Police says in a release, and ABC 27 and Penn Live report.
When the boy reached a white fence between two houses in the neighborhood and could go no further, the man allegedly shot him, Penn Live reports.
“He was pleading for his life,” neighbor Tracy Burton told Penn Live.

The suspect, identified as Orlando Duarte, 46, of Harrisburg, fired multiple shots at the boy, witnesses said, the Harrisburg Bureau of Police says in the release.

Duarte was listed as a registered sex offender in 2015 for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

In 2008, he was sentenced to six to 23 months of confinement and probation after pleading no contest to charges including simple assault and indecent assault of a person less than 16, records show, Penn Live reports.

So glad he's locked up -- and there are at least two witnesses on part of this event.
Oh, that poor young man. Does anyone around here know him? His parents and other family members need to know about this asap. Someone does know his name, apparently. He couldn't have had an id on him when he was found...
Hoping he is from this area, or that someone does know him who can get in touch with the folks who need to know. So sad.

"Duarte had no legal right to own a firearm because he is a register sex offender in the Megan's Law database stemming from his 2012 conviction on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated indecent assault without consent, indecent assault of a person less than 13, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors.

In that case, Duarte was found guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl under the age of nine.

He was released from prison in May 2018 after serving six years.

Duarte's criminal record also includes prior charges related to a 2007 sexual assault of a seven-year-old boy.

Duarte was sentenced to six to 23 months of confinement and probation after pleading no contest to multiple counts."
