How difficult for the family that they’ve discontinued searching until new evidence would prompt more searching. It seems like the missing lady has a little girl at home with her husband.

Search called off for Carbon County woman missing in ‘hazardous area’ of mining lands


“She was last seen around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, walking at the Lansford Little League field there, and that’s where the search started.

Despite ATVs, dogs, Pennsylvania State Police helicopters and more than 100 volunteers trying to cover the thousands of acres of old mining land, Colancecco was not found on Monday.

After a full day of searching, there are no plans to resume unless new evidence is found, PaHomePage reports.

“Every area of interest our entire perimeter has been searched numerous times, not just once but two, three times, and there’s just nowhere left to search in this part of our community,” Nalesnik told the news station.


Colancecco is described as 5-feet-tall with a slender build. She was last seen wearing a pinkish windbreaker and white stretch pants.

Crews were out all day looking for her, but still no signs of Lily Colancecco.

Search parties gathered near Panther Valley High School Monday morning to search for Lily Colancecco. The 33-year-old was last seen around 9:30 Sunday morning. Surveillance footage shows Colancecco leaving her home in Summit Hill.

We’re told she did not bring her phone. Family and friends ‪went looking for her Sunday night, but found nothing.

“The family is very upset, very distraught. They’re determined to find her. They are here, they are on site, they are actively participating in the search alongside emergency services workers,” Kevin Steber, safety officer with Diligence Fire Company No. 1 in Summit Hill, said.

She was believed to be in the woods near Panther Valley High School and Knepper’s Trailer Court.
A witness spotted her walking at the Lansford Little League field. That’s where the search began.
ATVs, dogs, Pennsylvania State Police helicopters and more than 100 volunteers assisted with the search. Officials say the search area is on tricky ground: 8,000 acres of old mining land.

“The big worries are severe dehydration she did not go out she did not leave the house prepared to be in the woods for an extended period of time. So time is of the essence,” said Steber.”

This article has a quote from a Facebook post made by the missing woman’s husband that is interesting: “the dogs picked up your scent where the schoolteacher says he spoke with you, and led them to a dead end on the highway by the bridge.”

So, according to this, it sounds like she may have gotten into a car. That would be consistent with reports that the searches were called off because there’s not enough evidence to suggest LC is still in the area they were searching.

The article I last posted contains an excerpt from a Facebook post from the missing woman’s husband. Newer posts on his Facebook indicate there’s a report that she has been seen and *breaking news* he has a live video saying she is located and safe!!
