I'm so grateful that Linda was brought home to her family. It doesn't offer closure to the tragic outcome, but perhaps there is peace in being able to rest her with family.

Justice. That is the next step. On that note, I've been searching for a court date for JS, and I haven't found a thing. I'm wondering if, because Linda was discovered in the process of the court charges, that there are a bunch of things that have to be done differently now, and that is delaying the court dates. I suspect that we may not see a date until Sep/Oct. That is just my opinion.

Not sure if this has been discussed because I haven't been able to read each thread through yet, but the fact that Linda was wearing a white prayer cap/ bonnet stood out to me. With the particular group she was a part of, the Old Order Amish, everything I've seen and read says single women wear black caps and married women wear white. Does anyone know of anything mentioned about her being married?

She apparently still lived with her parents and siblings, so I don't think she was married.

There are many sects within the Amish and Mennonite religion, all with different rules. Some old order mennonite are much stricter than new order Amish.
All with different ways and rules.

She was an 18 year old single girl.

It appears that in PA the limitation to go to trial is 180 days if the defendant is all ready incarcerated. I'm estimating that JS should be in trial no later than Sept 29th? It just feels like it shouldn't take that long. :( I keep looking out for a court date. As Trackergd said, there may be a lot of moving parts, ie; change of venue. So, this really could drag on.

While everyone want's justice for Linda and her family, we would also not like to see a mistrial or the conviction overturned later on a technicality or procedural error.

Be assured that Mr. Smoker is enjoying all the comforts of a Lancaster County prison cell and gourmet bologna sandwiches.

I will admit that many years ago I had the pleasure of staying at this niche b&b for a short stay and I can tell you from personal experience that the food barely resembles actual food. The coffee is warm water, breakfast sausage patty was literally indescribable tough alien material. The only thing that tasted like real food was the hot dogs. The COs routinely came in holding snacks and soda, eating them in front of us. Most did not have access to chips and none to soda. Cell doors do not lock so if you go to court, you come back to all of your things stolen. And cold, icy drafts bowing thru all day and night. Never a moment of quiet. Absolute nightmare there.
Thankfully I have not visited a similar place since.

It was Fathers' Day last year when evil visited the Amish community and took this innocent girl's life and her away from her family.

In the May issue of The Diary, a monthly newspaper for the Amish across the country, Henry Fisher wrote, “So a group of FBI and county agents searched in vain last Wednesday April 21 until they fetched the hand-cuffed prisoner to the property where he showed them where the grave was.

Today marks one year since the disappearance of Linda Stoltzfoos, the 18-year-old Amish girl who never returned home to her Lancaster County farm after attending church services on Father's Day.

After weeks of investigating, authorities arrested 34-year-old Justo Smoker of Paradise Township, initially charging him with kidnapping and false imprisonment in connection to Stoltzfoos' disappearance.
He was charged with first-degree murder in connection to the case later in the year by Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams.

Stoltzfoos' remains were discovered on April 21, on the property of a business where Smoker was formerly employed. An autopsy determined she died of asphyxia, with a knife wound to the neck as a contributing factor.

So I visited the area to see my friend last month who is Amish. From what I learned there is a lot of evidence against the murderer and the deal for him to take them to Linda was for a facility. It appears there were places he did not want to serve his time. If I get any further info on this I will post but it has been quiet since Linda was brought home.
