A few additional thoughts:
JS doesn't seem to have planned his evil deeds very well. Rather than pay in cash, his purchase of boot laces and gloves was verified by bank account records. He was witnessed blatantly stalking young Amish girls the evening before and was witnessed driving around with LS in his car plus the sightings at Harvest Rd and washing his car etc.
He was drinking liquor before and perhaps during the abduction and the route he took was all over the place. Someone mentioned the difficulty of assaulting a tall girl in such a small car. He probably attempted it behind the church and may have abandoned the attempt considering spending just 5 minutes there. Did the alcohol affect his "ability" to assault her?
Perhaps very early on he realised that wasn't going to work and decided to dispose of her to avoid being identified. He seemed to be heading south east to Gap which is where he worked and also grew up but then turned north and apparently to the Welsh Mountain. Based on the sighting timings and being at Harvest Road at 2:32pm, there doesn't seem as if there was any more time for another assault attempt.
The searches in August/September were in the southern part of the Welsh Mountain which is consistent with where he would have had time to dump her and get to Harvest Rd at the time shown by cell phone records. He can't have gone far off the beaten track therefore why have searchers not found her?
After scrubbing his car and perhaps sobering up, did he think about all the people who would have seen her in his car and maybe how easily she could be found?
Did he borrow a car from a friend or neighbour to move her further away under the ruse that his vehicle needed repair etc? If so, he could hardly remove any evidence by scrubbing that car with bleach at his apartment.
Interestingly and coincidentally, Paradise Fire Station 47 were called to put out a vehicle fire at his address on July 4th.
