Thank you, dotr....I'm lucky to have come across this post and all the great help that tried to solve this!
After telling my dad about this case since he grew up fairly close, he asked which trestle and once I sent pictures of it previously posted he realized he used to have a hunting camp near there.

The person I talked to last night happens to be Todd Matthews who created the doenetwork, and I feel really confident he is going to do what he can to get us more information---eapecially why we can't learn after all this time what was in that letter. I think there is info in it that could help the public and make a difference.
He also would like to find out where her remains are for additional info. Really a great guy. I'm hoping that I can get us some more clues and get answers. And there was so much I could touch on becaus of the awesome input of this forum even if hasn't been active.

Todd is awesome!

I wonder if anyone knows who were the children that found her? I would love to hear from them. I thought I read somewhere in here someone knew them.

I do know who the 4 children are. One for sure, as I am friends with her on Facebook. She has nightmares about founding this poor girl. She was 7 yrs. Old. Sorry I am new to this page, but think it's time to give this girl her name back. But i don't think it's best to post the children's names here as it may cause unwanted attention to them. Do a Facebook search for Penny Doe you will probably be able to find a couple of the kids now adults. We all went to Clarion Schools together.

As I am new has anyone ever looked up the case of Michelle Reidenbach to compare with Penny Doe? She was last seen in 1981 but her eyes and brown of her nose look similar the the artist reconstructions. Is it possible someone held her for 9 years? And that she possibly got away using the railroad tracks?
Reading this thread, makes me wonder if she escaped her captives, ran and they caught up with her, at which time the blunt force could have occurred, knocking her from the train tracks above to where she was found, with a broken leg? I saw someone ask if fingerprints were taken. that was impossible because they found skeletal remains. Authorities believe Penny Doe had been there for 2-3 months, in the hot part of summer.
So is there a way to find out when the case was last looked at? Clarion County does not have their own forensic unit. We call Punxsy or Erie when we have crimes that needs forensic work. Looking forward to following this three. Hopefully someone soon will get some answers some where.

I could only imagine what it was like for your friend! How terrible. And I do agree about the naming of people. I didn't realize the kids were that young at the time that they discovered her.

I just did a quick comparison on NamUs for Michele. Looks possible with the exception that they say Penny Doe's one tooth was longer than the other. Hard to tell with the picture quality, but Michele's looks pretty even. According to NamUs, she hasn't been ruled out as not fitting. We could contact them and they might be able to just see if there's any dental records for her because if she had work done, then it would be an easy no.

When I first started writing the article and how I got into touch with Todd Matthews from NamUs, was because I saw last summer Clarion had an article about a possible match to Barbra Miller and that they were sending it for testing. I reached out to just see if the results came back. He said from what he saw it wouldn't be a match because she had dental work done.
We talked about the anonymous letter sent and he mentioned about trying to get it released to the public since it never has. How can it hurt......it was sent back in like 2002. He also spoke about checking to find out where Penny Doe's remains are that could possibly give any other clues or the idea of running it through some of the ancestry sites. But I haven't heard from him about anything new if he has found a away to talk to police or investigators.
I do have a couple cops friends here in Punxsy maybe I should pick their brains on if there's any chance I could get information about the case...not from them but who I could possibly talk to or if they would/could even tell me anything new. I know Todd said that LE was hard with helping back when he was trying to solve Tent Girl. Crime units tend to keep certain things hush hush but it's been so long now and I can't see why any little thing that could crack it open if we got the public involved should throw off the case.

I honestly at this point just want to see her get her name back and her family to get closure. It seems to be, being a crime show nut;fiction and factual, that being there is such a unique dental report for Penny Doe.....shouldn't it be easy to identify her? When I spoke to my friend are same conclusion keeps coming up. Can't you get DNA from bones or teeth? The story I have always heard is that this girl had been picked up in NY. I don't feel like she went to that music festival everyone seems to think she did. Is it possible she went missing well before 1990 and was held somewhere? My daughter is a senior in high school taking an AP anatomy class. She said that there she be signs on the bone to further determine her age. Bones have gaps or lines that close by a certain age. If the age group was narrowed down from what I saw being 15-40 that might help narrow done who she is too. It just seems to me it is long over due for this case to be brought back to the publics attention and maybe new forensics applied. She has been a cold case long enough, too long.

That's what I was thinking about narrowing down the age. Back in 1990, I doubt our area knew forensics like they could now....forensics was just starting to take off.
I think a large problem with it not being as easy to identify is because of how many people aren't reported missing, or are from other areas you wouldn't think of. That's why it would be great to see it become mandatory in every state to log missing persons into the NamUs database because so many more could come up we could probably link it to.
With ancestry and DNA kits becoming bigger, I think that is the best bet is to hope a relative is in the system. But my mom had mentioned she thought that was illegal and ancestry.com had to fight for that because they promised it wouldn't be given to other parties. But I feel like they've done it before...I don't know if things have changed or a different provider allows it or what not. But I would think that would be the best bet.
I can't believe I had never heard of it considering my family is from Clarion and I was born in Rimersburg. My dad was pretty intrigued because he used to hunt around that area and forgot all about it.
And abduction and held is also a great possibility. They say they think she wasn't native to around here but I wonder why unless it's solely because no one was reported missing. Because if someone knew that she was out of town then that would mean they would have at least seen her and we could have a better idea of for sure what she looked like.
It certainly would be amazing to put an end to the mystery and give her a name.

I just wanted to let you know, my dad just sent me a link to a post made by one of the kids who discovered her on facebook....I messaged her :-)
I am beyond thrilled that it is being shared and being brought back into the light! It's kind of coincidental that I read in one of the comments that this was the first time she's ever gotten one of our direct mailers because we only send out 3-5,000 to random homes in Clarion County, and the fact she received it this time and not before is crazy.

Thats awesome. Maybe all of us sharing and working together can get this girl her name back.

Dna doe project says to have our law enforcement contact them. They will be happy to talk to them. But i dont know how to go about doing that.

This is what is listed on the bottom of the casefile on the Doe Network. Hope it helps? Can't hurt to start there?

You guys are the best ♡ I'm offline for several months & come back to find that so much activity has occurred on Penny's thread. :)

Thank you for keeping Penny's case on your minds & and for the thread current. She still & always will reside in my heart. ♡

Sometimes I've been without internet for years. I've long ago forgotten my password for Penny's Myspace, but the pictures are still there (well, most of them) from where she was found. ♡
♡ I used to have index cards, notebooks & scattered pieces of paper all pertaining to Penny's case (those are long gone, also) Trying to match up details & descriptions from the Doe Network & The Charley Project & individual missing persons sites.
Just wanted to Thank you guys for helping Penny Doe. ♡ And, Thank Goodness for NAMUS!! :)

Talisman ♡

I haven't heard anything new, and I've spent a lot of time pretending to "work" at work going through NamUs and other sites trying to vary the search options but it just seems like it's all a dead end. I truly think that if her DNA could be ran through some sort of ancestry site we could at least find a relative....I feel like that is the best chance and biggest hope.
But how to go about getting them to do that, especially in this area, I don't know.
I have a friend who works for Punxsy State Police and I asked her opinion on contacting the officers (I can't remember if I have mentioned this before in this thread), but she told me basically what I already knew which is they probably won't or can't disclose anything they already haven't.
I just wish they would release the anonymous letter. It seems like it could possibly jar something new in someone else's mind.
Then again, if it mentions a possible suspect then releasing it could either erroneously make a suspect out of someone who may be innocent or compromise the investigation in some way.

I'm going to be bored today, maybe I'll try to look up an email address from the troopers and send them an email. I feel like I could express the interest better written out hahaha.

I wonder if it is feasible to start a Go Fund Me for the Penny Doe case in order to raise money for a reward for the identification of Penny Doe and the apprehension of those involved with her murder? Someone out there knows information on this case and contacted the police in 2002 but wouldn’t come forward again. I think a reward might be an incentive for those who know something about this case to come forward. I don’t know much about Go Fund Me. Is this legal?

This is a long shot, but after reading that isotope analysis indicates that she may be from the Southeastern US, I was wondering if this could be Cynthia Lorie Perry? She has similar teeth and is within the age range. Also, I see that Penny may be taller than once estimated, Cynthia was 5'6, which is at the upper end of that height.

Doesn't seem like too much of a long shot. She hasn't been ruled out for Penny Doe as well.

STOPLIGHT Trademark of STOPLIGHT OF CALIFORNIA, INC. Serial Number: 73546717 :: Trademarkia Trademarks

I'm not sure if stoplight California was a large clothing brand. But it didn't seem to last very long and was trademarked in Los Angeles. Possibly one store, maybe more, maybe it was a distribution center. I know someone she could of went on vacation and bought the vest there. I contacted a couple people on Etsy asking if they had any information on the sale of this clothing brand.
Thanks for the great info and welcome to Ws, Snakem!
