Latif Williams, who was 17 at the time of the killing, was found guilty by a Philadelphia judge of third-degree murder and weapons charges.

Williams was accused of shooting Collington, 21, twice in the chest during an attempted robbery on the 2200 block of North Park Avenue in November 2021.

Collington, a Delaware County native who was on track to graduate in the spring, was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he died.

Sentencing scheduled for May 1, 2024. Also note BBM.
Williams is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge O’Keefe on May 1, 2024. He will also be tried for a separate carjacking of an elderly man, also in 2021, that day before the same judge.

On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, a judge sentenced 19-year-old Latif Williams to 25 to 50 years in prison for the murder of Samuel Collington as well as a separate carjacking that occurred ten days before Collington's death.

After the verdict, Collington's mother, Molly Collington, thanked Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney Joanne Pescatore, as well as the investigators in the case.
