PA PA - Trevor Shaffer, 28, involved in a hit and run crash, fled the area, Albany Twp., Berks County, 26 Jul 2024

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop L – Hamburg Station is attempting to locate 28-year-old Trevor SHAFFER.

On 07/26/24, Pennsylvania State Police Hamburg investigated a hit and run crash at Route 737 and Kunkels Mill Road, Albany Township, Berks County Pennsylvania.

The involved vehicle was registered to SHAFFER and a witness on scene observed a male fleeing the area that met the description of SHAFFER.

SHAFFER has not had any contact with family since 07/23/24. SHAFFER is described as a white male, approximately 5’10”, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

What made him run?
Was he under the influence of drugs or alcohol?
Was he already wanted for some crime which made him leave the scene?

This case is really strange. Did he own the car? Why the discrepancy, unless maybe it was registered to his father who might also be named Trevor? The witness said the driver was a male whose description met Shaffer's, so if that's reliable then maybe it wasn't his car, but he was still the driver. But then what happened? Was he injured in the crash and ended up dying some time later somewhere else? Was he impaired again and crashed again and killed himself? Did he commit suicide?

So many questions.

So, the original crash was 7/26, then he used his debit card in New Jersey on 7/28? Assuming it was TS who used the debit card, he was alive two days after the crash.


ETA - The location the crash took place is over 2 hours from Atlantic City, NJ.

SO he was missing 3 days BEFORE the accident, his parents filed a missing persons report. Where was he? Where was his body found and in what condition? Could someone have been after him? Seems to be lots more to this story. Doesn't sound like he took off BECAUSE of the accident.

SBM and BBM. "The PA State Police received a missing person report for Trevor Shaffer. Despite the lack of video evidence and while he was still missing, they filed charges against him on August 7th for an incident that may not have involved him, as he had been missing for three days, according to the State Police. We distributed a flyer in hopes of helping the family find him, while the authorities posted about him being a criminal. The public attacked his family and us, claiming he wasn’t missing."

This one has been bothering me since I saw an initial post several days ago from Missing People in America regarding the charges being filed against Trevor without evidence that he was truly involved in the traffic incident. The above quote (also linked) was posted after he was found deceased. I am interested to see what unfolds from here on out, and if we are provided with any further details regarding the incident and/or his death.

And of course, my deepest condolences to Trevor's loved ones.
