Didnt PETA recently dress up like KKK members at the dog show or something?

Like I said before, I am a vegetarian and have been one for many years. In addition, I admire people who are willing to fight for their beliefs although I don't know if PETA is always genuine in getting the message across about animal cruelty or just effective in getting their "extremism" publicized. (Although I do realize that PETA is far from being the most extreme, in this type of activism)
So I guess it shouldn't surprise me that PETA has found a way to excuse the actions of their most infamous and active promoter, but it has. I really did expect them to vilify Pam Anderson the way they do so many others. Which I don't necessarily agree with, but if you are going to operate towards everyone else with such an obnoxious level of self-righteousness, then you'd better set the same high standards for yourselves!
I think I'll give up now on understanding PETA and just go eat a veggie burger and know that I am living according to my own principles! Sorry for ramblin'!

This type behavior (if they did this) is appalling. My dogs are just plain old dogs with no showability, but is PETA against the dog competitions? I don't know a lot about PETA, other than some of the "statements" I've heard in the media etc... I've seen some showdogs that have had more manicures than I've had (or would they be Peticures?) I thought show animals were treated well?

Jesikah1~ I don't think you rambled. I appreciate your viewpoint. I don't think there is anything wrong with people being vegetarians or people who care about animals being mistreated or abused. :)

Maybe PETA gets most of it's publicity from extreme antics? I'm not sure which activist groups were throwing red paint on fur coat wearers, was that PETA? IMO, that's taking things a bit far. Assaulting a human over a coat doesn't seem like a reasonable argument.

According to the following link, PETA doesn't have a problem with this:

http://www.tmz.com/2009/04/17/pam-anderson-sells-out-for-strip-steak/

PETA's statement: "Pam is not a host but may be attending as an invited guest, and since steakhouses nowadays have some of the best salad bars and veggie options around, we're sure she'll find plenty to eat should she attend."

Yeah, and speaking of vegetables, I'm sure they'll handpick the cucumbers!

I guess the only questions I have are: Will they be pounding the meat until tender before serving? Will they be using aged meat, or young meat? Will they be serving homemade bread or rolls with their platters? I'd sure hate for the yeast used to be confused or substituted with something else...ahem ahem...
It seems not only is PA a hyprocite, but PETA as well.

I thought this part of the link was right on:
So what happens if KFC -- with whom Pam waged war against -- opens a strip club and "invites" Pam as a guest? Would she go if they too had a nice salad bar? We're guessing if the price is right...

Here is a link for the Dog Show Protest

PETA is against "owning pets". All animals should be free - should never have been domesticated to begin with. No matter how wonderful a pet owner you may be, PETA is opposed to you having that pet. So no, it's not just dog shows they oppose, it's the whole idea of not allowing all animals to roam free and live their own lives independent of human control. I believe every animal I've ever had would take extreme issue with that thinking.

I can't help but make a comment here. I think Pam Anderson is just nasty. In no way shape or form could I ever take her seriously. MOO.

Blech, PETA. I'm not down with the vandalism.

Thank you very much for the link! As an owner of a wonderful AKC registered dog, I take offense. My girl is "fixed", she will never create a "superior bloodline" and she is very well cared for. She might not be a "showgirl" but she's a family member. Pam on the other hand goes to extreme lengths to be a "showgirl", including bleach blonde hair and fake breasts. Hmmm.... :waitasec: It's okay for Pam to strut her stuff on stage, but our yellow lab is somehow similar to the KKK? These people confuse me!

Since Pam has green eyes from what I've read, she's only a pair of blue contacts away from "the superior race"? Hypocritical?

If that's the superior race then I prefer to continue to be inferior.

She used to be pretty before all the work she had done on her body and face.

I want to say, I hope that no one took my opinion with anything less than the sarcasm that was intended? I am baffled by PETA when some of their "protests" are rather vile. IMO.

I totally agree with you, Pam was very pretty and possibly a lot more convincing before she plastic-ed up.

I didn't read it as being anything other than sarcasm.

Yep, I saw that right away and agree with you completely!
