France's Yellow Vest protesters return to the streets enraged by billions pledged to rebuild Notre Dame | Fox News

"Yellow Vest protestors in Paris battled police during violent clashes Saturday -- newly enraged at the more than billion dollars that have been pledged to rebuild fire-damaged Notre Dame Cathedral, overshadowing their anti-wealth cause.

Black-hooded demonstrators set fire to trash cans, scooters and a car and pelted police with rocks to draw attention anew to their 23rd weekend of protest."

It seems like an extreme form of socialism with a parade of yellow vested and black hooded thugs destroying property and attacking people because successful, industrious people have not provided for them. The unemployment rate is 8.8%, so the frustration is understandable, but the energy it takes to complain could also be used more productively.

Violent protests on the streets of Paris goes back a long time, take the French revolutuon in 1789, the Paris commune in 1871, and the student protests in 1968, c'est la meme chose.

I too thought of the French Revolution, tempted to mention the guillotine. The French Revolution gave the French Napoleon and war.

Architect unveils striking proposal for 'green' Notre Dame

"The rebuilt Notre Dame could feature a futuristic glass design, solar power, and an urban farm that supports vulnerable and homeless Parisians, if one architecture firm's vision is realized.

In April, French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe announced an international competition for architects to redesign the cathedral's 19th century spire, which collapsed after a fire devastated the 850-year-old Gothic landmark. Paris firm Vincent Callebaut Architectures responded to the call with an innovative, eco-friendly design that supports the local population and produces more energy than it uses.".....

ETA they already have the bees up there to pollinate, although for security purposes, I don't think they want to open their roof up to so many people these days.

Tradition vs modernity: Debate over future Notre-Dame spire sparks controversy

But according to a YouGov opinion poll, 54 percent of French people would like the Gothic cathedral to be rebuilt as it was before the April fire, with only 25 percent opting for an “architectural initiative”.

Even though his association refuses to take part in the debate, De Châlus also warns that the existing building should not be seen as a blank page. “There are many things that will need to be restored and conserved, including things nobody knew of," he says, citing newly discovered medieval paintings on the cathedral’s canopy

.....

I’m w/ the 54%

BTW Other then “accident” what was the cause now that they have moved on to the restoration?

The most recent articles do not have any updates on such.

ABC News has an article and a video at this link where David Muir went to visit the interior.

French Senate says Notre-Dame must be restored exactly how it was

On Monday evening, the French Senate approved the government's Notre-Dame restoration bill - but added a clause that it must be restored to the state it was before the blaze, striking a blow to the government which had launched an international architecture competition to debate ideas on the restoration.

Veiligheidshelmen op: eerste mis in Notre-Dame na brand is een feit

Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit held the service for thirty priests in the chapel behind the choir. For security reasons, everyone who entered the church had to wear a helmet.

"This service is a reminder that the cathedral is still alive. It is what Notre-Dame was built for," says Aupetit. For security reasons, there were only priests present and no other visitors to the cathedral. The building is still in poor condition. Several walls and pieces of roof are still on the verge of collapse. There is also a lot of debris in and around the cathedral.

The chapel where the service took place was spared by the fire, which is still fresh in the memory of most Parisians.

Notre Dame rector: Fragile cathedral might not be saved

Paris – The rector of Notre Dame Cathedral says the Paris landmark is still so fragile that there’s a “50% chance” the structure might not be saved, because scaffolding installed before this year’s fire is threatening the vaults of the Gothic monument.

Monsignor Patrick Chauvet said restoration work isn’t likely to begin until 2021 – and described his “heartache” that Notre Dame couldn’t hold Christmas services this year, for the first time since the French Revolution...

Great to see it coming along so well.
