I agree. Also the island has been searched which, sadly, suggests to me she's in the ocean and may never be found. MOO

We are only seeing the snippets of video that they want us to see. Presumably, the camera recorded any motion that occurred, so we should be able to see anyone going in or out of the room at any time. If I was Joran's defense attorney, I would demand to see the uncut video, from the moment Joran arrived at the hotel on May 14.

Without seeing the entire tape, we cannot know the entire story.
 
Wow - that video of him with the coffee is something else! If I had any doubt before about whether or not the coffee trip was a ruse - I don't doubt it any more. He has the second shirt on - the one he was wearing when he left the hotel for good, and the whole bit with him looking to see if anyone is watching him, and pretending that he doesn't have a key, is such an act. IMO, he clearly wanted the hotel staff to think the girl in the room was fine around the time he left. Seeing the coffee video makes me think the news reports that he told the hotel staff to not bother his girl when he left the hotel are definitely true. Trying to set up an alibi.

Why in the world didn't he hop on a plane before her body was found? Was he so broke he couldn't afford a ticket? Or did he not have his passport with him?

I can just imagine Mark Geragos claiming the girl threw herself around the room and beat herself to death just to frame The Sloot!

Watching the video in the casino... I promise you they knew each other and she was not shaking his hand she was handing him off something.Praying for justice.
 
The story about Anita still being in Aruba, and attending a film festival (!) no less, really does not ring true. It was widely reported that she was on her way to Peru a few days ago. I found it very strange that we hadn't heard anything else about this.

If somehow this is true, it is entirely out of character for her.

He was afraid they had found the body and he would be picked up before he could get out of the country would be my guess. He supposedly went to the airport and then changed his mind.

I would urge everyone to take what is coming out of Peru with a huge grain of salt. Peru is a third world nation, with a laughable justice system and perhaps the most brutal prisons in the world. Unfortunately, too many Americans would probably like our own country to shift in that direction.

I find it hard to believe that Joran wasn't coerced and/or tortured in some way. I would think that's standard operating procedure in their country. The idea that they wouldn't do it because "the world is watching," or something, is contradicted by the fact "the world" isn't able to witness anything they have done, or are doing, to Joran.

I find the stories about Joran supposedly offering to reveal the location of Natalee's body to be even more unbelievable than his "confession" to murdering Stephany. I have watched that coffee video again and again, and simply don't understand how people can find it incriminatnig. Weird, yes. However, as I noted, the fact that he went and got an employee to open the door just flies in the fact of any notion that a dead body was lying inside. But again, that's just my typically contrarian take on it.

With regards to the part I bolded, its not as if the employee walked all the way into the room, checked around and left. He/She simply opened the door, and let Joran walk in. The body was apparently on the floor when found, under a window which would be the outside wall, with the bed on the other side of her, but even if she was on the bed, there is a partial wall when the door is opened. The bed appears, from previous pictures to be on the immediate right when you walk in.

In either case, it would be very easy not to see a body in the room. Also, the employee probably knew there was a girl in the room, and probably didn't want to go any further than opening the door, they would have no reason to go into the room.

If he was tortured, we would see obvious signs, he doesn't need to be coerced, he would say he was anyway, regardless of what he said.
He has already changed his story so it really doesn't matter.

I'm interested in your thoughts on the American justice system, if he were American, in American custody, being interrogated for 10 hours, what would that scene be like?

I really don't know, I'm Canadian, and I really don't know how they would handle it in Canada either.

These are just my opinions, as I see it.

Maybe he was counting on the staff member stepping in the room far enough to see the carnage, and when he didn't, Joran had no reason to ask him to step in. Maybe he was going to say "my God, she was fine when I left her" (not knowing about the hallway camera yet). If he'd been thinking on his feet he could have said, "come in while I put this coffee down and I will give you a tip for troubling yourself to open my door." THEN the carnage would be visible. So the guy leaves instead.

Second issue- he reportedly did cocaine around the time he killed her or after wards. He went to the airport and saw cops and got so paranoid (as you will do if you are high on coke) he chickened out. Truth be told, the cops didn't know a thing about Stephany's death yet, they weren't looking for him! He could have hopped a plane to Aruba and been untouchable. Back in his mamas arms and bellying up to a casino table the very next night.
Gambling away what was left of Stephany's winnings.....
