Strictly off the record I'd like to know too. I've been sleuthing some on the two missing Colombian women and so far I have more questions than answers. I read a news report VDS was seen with the two women but the report didn't say who said so. Nothing I can see out of Columbia yet but a raised suspicion.

This sleuthing in a search brought me to a website called poker cheats and it was educational I must say. I found an article on the site about VDS and left me wondering. A small quote and link to the article. I consider it pure speculation at this time but possibly later may play a role, only time can tell.

Concerning young adults or adults with ADHD, perhaps ADHD is diagnosed in some anti-social personality individuals, but the primary diagnosis is likely a personality disorder, not ADHD.

imo The problem is directly related to the fact that once MANY parents get a diagnosis they lower their standards, fail to hold children accountable for their behavior, and excuse everything their child does.

What parents usually fail to realize the adhd child needs more consistency, more discipline, more consequences, more practice etc....even for the most basic behaviors ....such as learning to sit still! Whatever the medication doesn't fix is unfixable in their minds.

I take real issue calling this man a "boy"...somehow in mind my that makes him less culpable for his brutal and horific actions. But I do totally agree he is filled with rage

I'm so glad you brought this up, since something continues to nag at me about VDS in the video of him and Stephany at the casino.

In the long distance shot, when they first shake hands, it strikes me as though she is handing him something. Then, watching the overhead shot, after the handshake, he splays his right hand out over his stack of chips as though he is releasing something from his hand, and continues to fiddle with the chips...so all I can think is that she handed him some chips. After fiddling with the chips, he bends and brings his right hand under his left leg. He remains in this unusual bent posture for some time. But unfortunately, we don't see the entire video.

I may be way off the mark on this, since I know nothing about playing casino poker, let alone cheating at it! I know initially there were rumors about him and Stephany running a scam, but they have all been discounted as far as I can tell. Has anyone else been suspicious about this?

I can make out "broken neck." I can make out some of the arrows, but is there an enlarged drawing somewhere?


It implies or shows the neck is broken in the front I think. And I think a rough strangling could do this. I cannot make out too well the other bodily injuries, but have stated above that those are probably easiy to account for, by what he did once she went limp after the elbow strike.

Could it be that only the hyboid bone was broken from the strangling?

Or is it the neck bone?

Players do try to cheat, especially at higher stakes tables and the tension there can get pretty thick when people are losing money or think they're being cheated. With JVS's hair-trigger, violent temper, gambling losses and cheating could have played a role in his actions.

Slightly OT, but the reason everyone noticed how clear and high quality the video was of JVS and Stephany in the casino is because it needs to be. Casino security people need high quality video to be able to read cards and look closely to detect cheating by patrons or dealers.

I don't think her giving him chips is an issue, except that she's doing it in such a secretive way..and as soon as she approaches him, he reaches out his hand, as though it were pre-planned. What bothers me most is what is he doing with his hand beneath the table?

The video at the hotel was very clear too. I noticed something last night on the coffee video. When he is standing there pretending to be knocking and waiting for someone to open the door, he definitely looks like a person who has done a terrible deed. His eyes look wild, his face is drawn,his hand is hanging limp, and he almost looks as if he is drugged. And maybe he is. He really looks pitiful. jmo

Appears to be Cody Mitten, a murderer in Texas. I believe the poster was bringing up this other murder case while delving into the mind(s) of murderer and why they commit the acts they do without remorse.

I find it interesting also about the why part...but am much more interested in the justice part.

I personally do not think insanity (or any other mental deficiency) is a defense for committing murder. If the person is that dangerous, no matter their state of mind, or how they got there, they still should be removed from society for the safety of others.

Hi, DGFred. I think that Joran was a competent poker player. Of the two, he was probably the more experienced player, although she could apparently hold her own. It's possible that she might have borrowed chips from him in an earlier game and is now returning it.

I don't think that SF would have been giving JVS chips, as when she sat down she had to give the dealer money to get chips for herself, IMO it just looks like a handshake, I don't think there was anything that was transfered from her to him, With her having the family connections that she had, and her knowing that there are good quality images available from the camera's I don't think she would have taken a chance of doing a transfer of anything, if nothing else she could have just asked him to step out to her jeep for a moment if there was something she wanted to slip to him.

She was reported as having been winning... he was reported by his friend as being in DESPERATE need of money. Competent maybe, but on a losing streak it seems.

If JVDS is ever charged in the NH case, would he be charged as a juvenile or adult? Do they have lesser charges for minors in Aruba like they do in the US?

I saw it as just a handshake too. Giving someone your chips is not illegal though.
