Did anyone else notice that in the credits following the program where Peter and Beth promise to meet at that location 5 years later ... there was the other woman with the crew walking on the beach ... Beth's personal coach.

According to this report, de Vries denies that the Castro Castro director was bribed or paid to allow Beth's interview with Joran. And, apparently, the prison director WAS the current prison warden. If he wasn't bribed, then why in the world would he have allowed this to happen?? Of course, one of the great things about this is that Joran didn't make a cent out of this. I wonder if Beth did?

"Alex Samame was warden of Peru's Castro Castro prison when the interview was done in his office. He has been suspended and is under investigation.

Joran van der Sloot's Peruvian lawyer says Samame threatened van der Sloot with solitary confinement if he didn't agree to the meeting with Beth Holloway.

Altez and others in Peru say the warden's office was a virtual recording studio with hidden cameras and microphones. Holloway accompanied de Vries and his Dutch television crew into the prison....which caused a huge controversy when it was made public."

As Peter said in his show ... this sort of thing could never happen in the Netherlands, but in Peru things are different.

Now the Castro Castro warden who is under investigation for allowing Peter de Vries to film the Beth / Joran meeting claims that it was authorized by the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE).

"Speaking to the "Public Enemies," former director of the detention center Alex Samano said the head of INPE at the time, Ruben Rodriguez Rabanal, gave his approval to the request made by Dutch television."

The comments below the article are interesting...a Dutch man claims de Vries stated on this TV program that he got in thru connections he had in Peru and spoke about the Peruvian prison corruption.

Some Peruvians insist that bribery was involved.

Seems like everything concerning Joran is fraught with controversy!! And the sad thing is he's probably enjoying every minute of this...:furious:

Was there more than one video? I didn't see much of what you're saying.

There was no script and I didn't see Peter throwing any fits because Beth didn't follow his advice or that she went off script. Peter asked Beth what she was going to say and she said she didn't know, that when she gets face to face with him it will just come from a mother's heart which it sounded like it did, begging him just to tell her where her daughter is.

I didn't see where it was up to or not up to Joran to give Beth five minutes either, When they accidently ran into each other in the hallway, Joran told her to contact his lawyer. Can you point out where he said ok I'll give you five minutes? If it's true than Joran lied that he was threatened into seeing with Beth.

Can you also point out in the video exactly what was said when you say that Altez warned them not to do it and that there will be problems if the interview goes forward?

http://www.peterrdevries.nl/archief/de-confrontatie-tussen-beth-en-joran/

I don't think that is what Altez was saying when he said there was no interview. Altez, imo was the one not being truthful. He said joran refused to see Beth and that was it. MOO It's reaching to say he meant that since it was only five minutes it didn't make it a real interview.

MOO

I can see from your comment that you do not speak Dutch. Beth did not accidentally run into Joran in the hallway. Joran's lawyer phoned the director and Beth is then taken out of his office. I can't help you beyond the information I have provided. Your comments about the video are based on the discussions between Beth and Peter in English, but there is so much more in the video than the conversations with Beth.

I have taken the time not only to watch the videos in full, but to review them again to provide you with the times that events occurred. It's now up to you to watch them - although if you do not speak Dutch, it will not likely help. Like I said, the lawyer information starts at 27 minutes - listen carefully for the word advocaat - that is when Peter mentions that Joran's lawyer has just contacted the prison director.

partial translation;

AMSTERDAM - The discovery of a human mandible has brought new hope to Aruba in the Natalee Holloway investigation.

Justice lets examine the physical remains of the American teenager, who vanished in 2005 This weekend they are sent to the Dutch Forensic Institute (NFI) in the Netherlands, said a spokesman for the prosecution in Aruba last night.

The jaw was found Friday on the beach at the Phoenix Hotel, not beach at the Phoenix Hotel, not far from the Bubali Plas. This is one of the places that Joran van der Sloot pointed out in a confession, as he would have hidden her body.

I searched for the connection between Joran and Bubali Plas and found it on wikipedia. The referenced link is no longer available. I watched the interview between Terror Jap and Joran, which included several experts analyzing the interview for truthfulness. One of the reasons that authorities did not want to proceed with a search in the area is because it is an environmentally sensitive bird sanctuary. The other was that authorities believed Joran was telling another story so he could get more poker money, and they determined that the timelines in this story didn't work.

The story Joran told in March 2010 was that Natalee was doing cocaine with his friend at the friends' parent's house, that she fell over the railing, and that because the friend had cocaine in the house - and didn't want anyone to discover it - they took Natalee to Bubali Plas.

[ame]http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joran_van_der_Sloot[/ame]

The funniest part in the interview with Terror Jaap was that Joran was told that he was "constricting his sphincter" (a method used to throw results) during the polygraph - which made Joran really angry. The expression you see after being told this is almost identical to the expression Joran has on his face as he leaves the interview with Beth ... the glance he gives by the door.

In this radaronline article they state that Joran's attempt at having his confession thrown out was unsuccessful?

In preparation for his trial, a Peruvian judge, Carlos Cordova, has ordered still more psychological testing of the accused.

The Dutch national initially confessed to the murder but later unsuccessfully argued to have his confession thrown out.

Has this been determined or is that article mistaken?

Please discuss the new find regarding Natalee here: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5812512#post5812512"]Natalee Holloway - Possible New Physical Evidence - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

I remember reading that too, Kamille, but haven't given it any credence since I have not seen it reported anywhere else...either in the US or Peru media.

So much fodder in this case which tends to obscure the important details- at least for me! I had to actually think about this.......

Anyways......the Defense was unsuccessful in having joran's confession thrown out. That was back in June by a Superior Court Judge.

http://www.aolnews.com/crime/articl...toss-joran-van-der-sloots-confession/19605835

The defense has appealed that ruling and that's where it is now - with this appellate panel. One out of 3 Judges said the confession should be thrown out but because they need all Judges to agree, a 4th Judge is now reviewing the appeal. Don't ask me how long this has been going on:D because I can't remember.

I looked back....it's been since about Sept. 6....almost 3 months ago...which is probably about 3 weeks in Peruvian time!!!! ROFL :banghead:

The original 3 judges made their decision in about 2.5 weeks!!! And if the 4th guy's ruling ends in a 2-2 split, we'll have to wait for a 5th judge's tiie-breaking decision...long about Dec., 2011, by my estimates!!!

No matter, my heart goes out to Beth. How do you let go when you don't know? I understand, it's easy to find fault sitting at your computer, safely tucked away, but her pain is still so raw and she's just trying to find that middle ground to get him to at least help her bring her baby girl home. I would not wish that on anyone.

Amen. I never did understand the criticism leveled against BHT by internet posters; who among us can really understanding her feelings or really know what we would do in her shoes?

Personally, I don't have strong feelings about human remains (in my view, the "real person" is the soul and that departs at death) or care whether they are "brought home." But I realize that is indeed important to many people.

And also personally, I see no reason to believe a word JVDS says on any subject.

Yet what can BHT do but continue her quest to get the "real story"? Even in the quite likely (IMHO) event that any story she gets will be just another fabrication by JVDS, there's always the possibility he may something that will help incriminate him further.

What can a loving mother do but continue her sad quest to get him to talk?

Heartbreaking. Again and again and again.

So while all this hoopla over the jaw bone that wasn't Natalee's was going on it looks like JVS's lawyer has also been busy with the press in Peru.

Seems he's presenting the option of JVS confessing to the murder of Stephany but denying that he stole her money or vehicle which could land him a cool six years in prison (with good behavior - heh) rather than twenty.

I don't think Joran's ploys will work in Peru.

And on Thanksgiving Day, I am thankful he is in prison now and will likely go there for life. I am thankful that the world knows he is a murderer, and that the Holloways and Twittys were right all along.

That's it? A deal that would land him a total of 6 years? I hope Stephany's parents put the pressure on. Six years for taking a life is maddening.......

I'm not sure which thread to put this in so I flipped a coin.

Apparently the authorities just discovered the body of the girlfriend of a Dutch prisoner that he killed and buried in his cell in AUGUST.

Those Peruvian prisons really run a tight ship.

Wow, Suzihawk: I haven't posted on this thread in quite a while and I think I'll just leave it at that, wow...

Those Peruvian prisons really run a tight ship.

Only in Peru!! Guess they don't even keep count of the visitors in / out on a given day. So, needless to say, it goes beyond reason to imagine that they have an accurate count of the actual prisoners...unbelievable!!

Maybe it's a good thing that JVS is in special quarters. In the general population, he could probably go missing and no one would know!!!

IMHO

Here's an article in English with a few more details:

Where the heck did he get the cement to build a bench in his prison cell??? And how did no one notice that he was building it around a dead body??!!?? Amazing!!!
