NC RALEIGH -- VICTIM, BETH ELLEN VINSON (1996 UNSOLVED, Homicide)

Beth Ellen Vinson, a 17-year-old white female, left her home in Greensboro, North Carolina and went to Raleigh to work and save enough money to get to New York.

Ms. Vinson worked for an escort service and was last seen at 2:30 a.m. on August 16, 1994, when she left her apartment to meet a client.

At 5:30 a.m., her 1990 white four door Mazda 626 was found at the entrance of a car dealership on Capital Boulevard.

Ms. Vinson was found August 23, 1994 (approx. four weeks after her disappearance, she was reported missing on August 16, 1994.) Ms. Vinson’s body had been covered with cardboard, and left between two warehouses on Wicker Road.

Cause of Death:
Medical examination disclosed that Ms. Vinson had been stabbed in excess of 15 times.

Additional Notes:
Unrecovered Jewelry
Continuing investigation of this homicide, determined that Ms. Vinson was in possession of four pieces of jewelry and a multi-colored cloth purse the morning of her homicide. These items have never been recovered.

No arrests have been made and the case is now cold.

Very helpful. The lack of evidence of sexual assault is important.

However, it does not clear either suspect.
The guy was on a drug binge at the hotel and likely could not...ahhem...consumate the meeting. This could lead to a rage killing especially if she had left the hotel without satisfying him. The fact the boyfriend knew where the car was is very suspicious. He failed a polygraph and likely was going to lose her which also can inspire a 15 stab wound rage killing with no sexual assault.

Any chance this Ricky boyfriend was her pimp, driver or protection?

Here is an idea. Get the two POIs and put them in a room together. You'll figure out who did it.
