AZlawyer, I have a question. It seems like Nurmi has made no attempt to get his witnesses that don't want to testify in open court to agree to testify another way (video, audio, affidavit). How long would a judge normally give a lawyer to get this done. Seems like it could be another long delay.

He's had plenty of time. When was the trial date set? That's how long he's had. Even if you start counting from when he said they wouldn't show up voluntarily, he's had weeks and weeks.

Lawrence stated these witnesses would be addressing mitigating factor #9- the psychological state of the defendant... he also stated they would be talking about the defendant, and what she was like, before meeting Travis. Why would any of them be afraid to tell that in open court?

Sorry, had to have a small chuckle at that. Can you imagine them talking about her craziness, suicidal talks, incessant talking about TA. They have to ALL know that she was cray-cray before she met TA. Just think of the enhancements made, hair and other anatomical places, starving and hugging cats too tight, etc.

Yep, they sure can tell us all just how she was before she met Travis alright.

YIKES!

After watching the judge nodding her head to Nurmi, now I'm worried! I sure hope we get the whole thing soon!

Maybe she's just acknowledging that she is hearing and listening, not necessarily agreeing with him.

It amazes me that Nurmi is arguing to get the DP taken away then says that she will never be executed. Well then why is he making such an issue if he knows she will never be executed. IMO that statement undermines the whole reason they were there today.
I think that if the judge denies this motion we will see Jodi on the stand. Jodi knows there will be no secret testimony from her. She has already decided that she will testify, but she cannot tell the judge that yet because it will blow the whole motion before the court today. If she has decided not to testify I think she would of announced it to the court to further the support of todays motion. IMO

I just watched the video of JSS nodding. I had the volume off. I thought she was looking down and to the right while she was taking notes and listening to Nurmi. Yes ,she was shaking her head, but I didn't feel like it was in agreement..... I thought it was more like " mmmm, hmmmmmm would you please stop talking". That kind of non committal nod people do when they aren't really listening but want to appear to be doing so.

ETA - and taking notes

Around the 1:00 minute mark you can see her nodding as Juan is speaking too. I don't think it means anything.

I sure hope so. I've been standing behind the judge throughout this phase thinking she was giving Nurmi enough rope to hang himself and get this out of the way to avoid an appeal, but that scared me. Hopefully it will make sense after we can view the whole thing.

Another question. I thought I saw somewhere that they had found a photo of Travis as a child wearing Spiderman underwear, etc. and that it was possible he was merely looking at old family photos and that gave JA the idea to accuse him of child *advertiser censored*. Did I dream that?
This is a photo I have seen before of Travis as a child, in spiderman undies, with his dad

edit: oopsie, I see someone else already posted this. I am so behind:shame:

It looks more like you know how you would just bounce ur leg up and down without knowing? Its like shes doing that with her head.

There is NO way Jodi will stay off the stand. This is her last soiree and she still believes she can lie and fool people with the best of them.

Nah. This judge does that often when she is listening to people. It seems to be her way of communicating that she is actively listening and understands what they are saying.

I agree. I am just thinking that that is the next delay tactic. 'Your honor, I need at least a month to do fourteen videos'. I was wondering if a judge would then give them the time since they chose not to do them earlier.

OK, just watched it again and I feel much better. I even saw an eyeroll while Nurmi was jabbering on. Thanks for pointing it out!

It looks to me as if she is acyually shaking her leg/knee action. It doesn't appear like a deliberate head motion, but more as a result of her tapping her knee up and down. You know when you are anxious or stressed or annoyed? IMO

She was nodding toward Juan too. And tbh it didn't look necessarily voluntary to me. She could have a medical thing going on i.e. Parkison's or something else that causes involuntary movements. She usually doesn't nod at all. She never does anything to show what she's thinking or feeling.

Good catch though.

Yes this is how it looked to me too.
