Richard Simmons' death is under investigation, pending cause of death, LAPD says
The 76-year-old fitness icon was found dead at his Los Angeles home over the weekend.

Simmons died Saturday, the day after his 76th birthday.
"We are awaiting the final cause of death ruling from the coroner's office before we can officially close the case," Norma Eisenman, public information officer for the LAPD said Tuesday.
It could take up to six weeks to receive test results...

Fitness guru Richard Simmons' cause of death revealed, family says
Richard Simmons' cause of death has been revealed after he died in July at 76, according to his family.

"This morning, Richard Simmons' brother Lenny, received a call from the LA Coroner's office," began the statement. "The Coroner informed Lenny that Richard's death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor," the statement continued."
It also states tox screen was negative except for his normal prescriptions.

The spokesperson, Tom Estey, confirmed the cause and manner of death, pointing NBC News to a statement initially provided to People magazine, which broke the news of the reasons underlying Simmons' death.
The statement cites the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office, which it said called Simmons' brother, Lenny, with the news Wednesday.
Toxicology testing revealed Simmons' body contained only medications he had been prescribed, Estey said in the statement...
