Do we believe this Steph person?

How would MC know about a single red rose in the forest? Why didn't she say anything sooner to RC? Where did this come from?

Seems to me that if RC was there and they found a single red rose as MC said there would be, he would have been on his knees, digging with this hands to find his baby.

Then the question becomes: Why didn't he? It's either A) He actually wasn't there as Misty says (meaning Misty lied [shocker!!!!]); or, B) He was, and knows the significance of the spot; or, C) Misty herself has never been there but is relaying what she perhaps overheard being discussed by Ronald; or, D) There is no "there" there.

...most likely for the same reason RC just mentioned that the bed the three children were (at first) sleeping was made and Misty did not sleep in it.

I agree, the rose freaks me out. Where did it come from and who put it there? How would MC know it was there? Also, the person that she told this to didn't ask her any questions about it? They just drove to the rose and that's it!

I agree with you, SS. So far, there haven't seemed to be any simplistic factual errors (early reports, Jr was a cousin, was 2, Misty was a cousin babysitting, Haleigh was a boy, etc etc etc), have been few grammatical errors (a biggie for me in reporting; should be first instinct to spell check, people of the media!!!), and as yet, no retractions on bad information (bald guy).

All in all, straightforward, concise, not filled with hyperbole, and all around respectful.

OT--but Steph hasn't worked for GVS for months--he freelanced IIRC and now has a gig with ABC.

When asked “is there anything else you can remember, in particular, is there anywhere police should be looking”, she paused and said “there’s a place that needs to be searched again.” She then gave us specific directions and said “look in the forest for a single red rose”. Ronald drove us to the location she described and when we entered into the woods as directed we found a red plastic rose, covered lightly with brush. It was an eerie moment and we quickly retreated with the intention of going directly to law enforcement, which we did. We returned later with law enforcement and without Ronald Cummings. Investigators bagged the rose and decided the area was worth being searched. The intense, detailed search with law enforcement and Texas equusearch is scheduled for tomorrow morning. I have been asked not to disclose the location, because IF this tip is actually credible, no one will attempt to tamper with the evidence.

I don't know about you SS, but that seems like a scene from a movie...a bad movie and it doesn't give me good feelings. Someone put a rose in the place Misty and RC have been and think should be searched...RC drove them right to it???? Something is not right about that.

The area had been searched before. Perhaps one of the searchers saw the rose and mentioned it to Misty because they felt the area was overlooked. This would mean she had prior knowledge it was there and was given directions to locate it. They asked Misty if she knew of any areas they should search again and it was her response. It is possible.

This could all end up being a big zero. It's possible that the rose is just one that someone tossed away or dropped; somebody that knows Misty happened to see it; they mentioned it to Misty; in her mind, she turned it into something that might connect to Haleigh; Misty thought about it and mentioned it when talking to the testers on the 19th. Ron may be clueless about the rose but didn't put any stock in it. We haven't been told his reaction - skeptical, upset, acting like it was stupid, interested?

Or, then again, there could actually be a connection to Haleigh....we'll have to wait and see.

I've been wondering and posted here once wondering what RC's reaction was to the rose story and then actually seeing it.

As I was on my walk today I thought of this. 10 miles I walked and you would not believe all the stuff on the side of the road. Gloves, hats, pull ties just a bunch of stuff. All those people searching for Haleigh. Someone might have seen it in their search and passed the rose info on.

I don't get the rose either, if it was brought to Misty's attention by someone else, wouldn't she have told Ron or TN, someone? And how could they not be driven to go there..........I don't get it. I just don't get it. This is where I can't make any of this make sense without thinking Ron knows.

Well, in my very humble opinion, I believe this rose thing was probably another one of TN`s ideas to help her son (and his child bride) out of yet another one of his messes. Wouldn`t be new to her to bail him out again. Too bad she didn`t make him accountable for something in his life, because none of this might have happened in the first place.
