A picture was taken of a knife lying on an island counter-top in the kitchen(See KNIFE_IN_KITCHEN Image taken from book "EVIDENCE DISMISSED... O J SIMPSON..VANATTER & LANGE, 1ST P/B EDITION. 1997").
The authors of the book "Evidence Dismissed" believed the knife belonged to Ms. Simpson and possibly was held by her because of a security concern. I disagree. Presuming that the authors are correct that the knife belonged to Ms. Simpson, I assert that the knife was held by the perpetrator and placed on the counter-top in the kitchen by the same. If you look at the 2 photos of the knife on the counter-top(See KNIFE_IN_KITCHEN Image), the knife lies on the counter-top with the tip of the blade near the counter-top edge; and the butt of the knife handle is at the opposite of the counter-top edge(the distance of the butt of the handle from the counter-top edge is almost the same as the length of the knife).
The knife is also lying almost at a 45 degree angle from the corner of the counter-top edge.

If a person was holding the knife in a sword like manner(tip of blade pointing up towards the ceiling and butt of the handle facing toward the floor) would not the knife when it is placed on the island counter-top be lying in a manner that the butt of the handle would be near the edge of the counter-top and the tip of the blade would be further away from the edge of the counter-top? If the person was holding the knife in a "ice-pick" manner(tip of the blade pointing towards the floor and the butt of the handle facing the ceiling) would not the knife when it is placed on the island counter-top would better resemble the position of the knife found in Ms. Simpson's kitchen? Who holds a knife in an "ice-pick" manner? Someone who is planning a close encounter. Someone who needs more force behind their thrusts. Someone who may have had some training in scenarios involving confrontations with a knife.

Most individuals hold a knife like a sword. It does feel awkward to hold a knife inverted(knife-pick) when you have no familiarity of that particular knife hold. Why? Because we are trained when we work in our kitchens every day to hold a knife like a sword; every time you cut a fruit, vegetable, cheese or a piece of meat. Or in our garages where we cut wires and shave certain materials. Was Ms. Simpson trained in tactical use of a knife? I haven't seen any evidence of it.

Was the person left-handed or right-handed regarding this knife when it was laid on the counter-top? It depends on which side of the the counter-top the assailant was standing. If the assailant was standing on the westerly side of the counter-top( the area in front of the window or the edge of the counter furthest from the viewer), the assailant would be right-handed. On the other hand, if the assailant was standing in the southerly side of the counter-top(the area where the cabinets under the counter-top are visible), the assailant would be left-handed.

I am inclined to believe the assailant regarding the knife was left-handed. Because the contours on the handle of the knife that add grip for the fingers is facing westerly(toward the kitchen window in the background). Considering that it was likely the knife was held like an "ice-pick", I posit this individual seemed adept to knife handling and was holding it correctly. Thus, the knife was held in the left-hand with fingers placed over the contour grip of the handle and was placed on the counter-top from the southerly side of the counter-top; that is the position you see as you view the photo. This does not rule out the person being ambidextrous or a person who could be somewhat ambidextrous.

There is one more item I would like to submit that also points to an assailant in the kitchen of Ms. Simpson's home and that is a cup of ice cream.

Minor fix to above post about the knife in the kitchen. I got the compass readings incorrect. Replace all words indicating west with "North" and all words indicating south with "West". These changes to do not undo or modify my statements above.

Police officer Robert Riske and partner responded to the 911 call placed approximately 12:09 A.M. Monday morning. These two officers arrived at 875 South Bundy Drive and located the 2 deceased individuals(Ms. Simpsons and Mr. Goldman). Police officer Robert Riske entered the residence of the deceased and that is when he noticed the ice cream in its paper container on a banister(or handrail)in a stairwell(See Image Banister(Handrail)_Location) leading to a door which was the entry into the garage. In "Murder in Brentwood", when Detective Fuhrman arrived at Ms. Simpson's residence, Officer Riske stated his observations of the ice cream to Detective Fuhrman(See Images Riske_Ben_and_Jerrys_ice_cream_not_yet_melted and Fuhrmans_notes_of_ice_cream).

Officer Riske stated what the ice cream's condition had not become, which was it was not yet melted.
Officer Riske did not state what its current condition was when he saw it. Initially, I assumed the ice cream was somewhat firm and perhaps a little melting had occurred. Therefore, I assumed the ice cream was placed in the stairwell around 12:00 A.M. to 12:10 A.M. June 13th 1994 and the assailant(s) had ran off from either hearing Sukru Boztepe approaching or Officer Riske entering Ms. Simpson's residence.

However, as I read more of Officer Riske's testimony in court he divulged a detail of the conditon of the ice cream when he discovered it on top of a banister(handrail) in the stairwell leading to the garage. Officer Riske testified the ice cream appeared to be about 1/2 melted. And Officer Riske testified he noticed the ice cream on the banister(handrail) approximately 12:30 A.M. to 12:40 A.M. with the spoon on the stairs(more specifically the treads which are the flat landing spots for your feet).

Because the ice cream was left on a banister(handrail) in the stairwell leading to the garage and it was not completely eaten, I deduced the assailant who was in possession of the ice cream was in a hurry and exited Ms. Simpson's residence from the garage in the rear(West-end of Ms. Simpson's residence). Furthermore, the assailant did not appear to be someone who was "licking their wounds" from a struggle with Mr. Goldman, but ate the victim's food in the kitchen possibly because it was an act of self-reward for an accomplishment. Or perhaps the assailant developed an appetite from the loss of calories that was expended in the attack. Regardless, the assailant eating in the kitchen of the deceased while two deceased individuals are just outside the front door with their blood still warm pouring out of them is hardly remorseful.

The ice cream and the container that the ice cream was placed in was discarded(See Image NY_DAILY_NEWS_MARCH_06_1995).

I began to try to deduce when the ice cream was left on the banister(or handrail) in the stairwell. I used Officer Riske observations and a youtube video for parameters, namely the time of observation which was 12:30 A.M. to 12:40 P.M.; the physical description of the ice cream which was approximately 1/2 melted; and the youtube video showing Ben & Jerry's ice cream melting in a time elapsed, 3 hr video. I do acknowledge that this is not a scientific experiment(paper container used for the ice cream and glass container used in the youtube video; each with different insulator values; recipe of Ben & Jerry's might have changed since 1994). However, I believe it is sufficient to provide a general idea of when the ice cream was placed(See 10 images Ice_Cream_1 to 10a for screenshots of the ice cream melting).

The youtube video is a time elapsed video of 120 grams of Ben & Jerry's ice placed into a glass container for 3 hours. In a prior post, Mr. Chang, the shop-keeper of Ben & Jerry's stated he sold 4 oz(113.398 grams) cups of ice cream to Ms. Simpson. The ice cream melting process begins at the :15 second mark and ends at :27 second mark. The 12 second elapse( :15 to :27) denotes the 3 hour duration of allowing the ice cream to melt. 12 secs / 180 minutes(3 hours)= 15 minutes per a second.

The ice cream was 1/2 melted in approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours.
Officer Riske observed the ice cream approximately 12:30 A.M. to 12:40 A.M. Adding 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours to the window of time that Officer Riske observed the ice cream will give these time frames:
For 2 hours of melting, the time of placing the ice cream on the banister would be approximately 10:30 P.M. to 10:40 P.M.
For 1 hour and 45 minutes, the time of placing the ice cream on the banister would be approximately
10:45 P.M. to 10:55 P.M.

Combining segment (1) of 10:30 P.M. to 10:40 P.M. with segment (2) of 10:45 P.M. to 10:55 P.M., we will have a window of 10:30 P.M. to 10:55 P.M. in which the ice cream could have been placed in the stairwell. Jill Shively testified she noticed an irate driver speeding through a red light and almost colliding with her and another driver(SEE Images Route_1 and Route_2). Ms. Shively witnessed this incident at the intersection of San Vincente and Bundy at 10:48 P.M. to 10:50 P.M. That time of 10:48 P.M. to 10:50 P.M. fits into the timeline of when the ice cream was placed in the stairwell(10:30 P.M. to 10:55 P.M.). It is noteworthy because the ice cream was placed on the banister(handrail) because someone was possibly in a hurry. And then Ms. Shively sees a driver speeding away from the neighborhood that Ms. Simpson resides in. Both events imply a person or persons were in a hurry.

Furthermore, another witness, Robert Heidstra, witnessed what appears to be a driver in a hurry speeding away from the vicinity of Ms. Simpson's condo approximately 10:45 P.M. And 10:45 P.M. also fits into the 10:30 P.M. to 10:55 P.M. window in which the ice cream could have been placed. As mentioned before, it is noteworthy because this event implies someone was in a hurry.

So that is two witnesses who each saw a vehicle between 10:45 P.M. to 10:50 P.M. leaving in a hurry away from the neighborhood of Ms. Simpson.

LAPD drives the route from Mr. Simpson's home to Ms. Simpson's home in 5 minutes and 58 seconds. The drive from Ms. Simpson's home to Mr. Simpson's homes is 5 minutes and 22 seconds.

Ms. Shively and Mr. Heidstra each had witnessed between 10:40 P.M. to 10:50 P.M.; an irate person(s); a vehicle being driven similar to someone in a rush. The vehicle Ms. Shively saw was driving North on Bundy as opposed to the vehicle Mr. Heidstra saw that was driving South on Bundy. Both vehicles were traveling away from Ms. Simpson's neighborhood.

Mr. Heidstra testified he left 10:15 P.M. from his residence to walk his dogs. Mr. Heidstra went East on Dorothy and then turned to his left and went North on Westgate. Then Mr. Heidstra turned to his left and went West on Gorham. At Gorham and Bundy, Mr. Heidstra heard Ms. Simpson's dog barking hysterically at 10:30 P.M. to 10:35 P.M. Mr. Heidstra decided to avoid Bundy Street and turn back and go to a nearby alley that runs parallel to the East of Bundy. As Mr. Heidstra proceeded South in the alley, he heard two male voices which appeared to be arguing and then a gate being "slammed"(closed in a loud and forceful manner) at 10:40 P.M.

Also, Mr. Heidstra testified as he reached the end of the alley, he turned to his left and went East a few houses and turned and looked backed toward Bundy at 10:45 P.M. Mr. Heidstra saw a vehicle coming out of a dark area on Dorothy and turning to their right or South onto Bundy. The driver appeared to be in a hurry which was stated by Mr. Heidstra. Mr. Heidstra thought he saw a wagon car or a jeep. And then he further added that it might have been a Chevrolet Blazer or Jeep Cherokee(See Image Heidstra).

Mr. Heidstra's description of the vehicle is quite general. I saw only three consistencies in his observation of the vehicle: 1) The color of the vehicle was a light color, possibly white
2) The vehicle was wagon-like, meaning the roof extended over the trunk of the car
3) The vehicle went South onto Bundy Street and the quick acceleration of the vehicle
