Deputies arrested 28-year-old Jerry Dorisme on Thursday on charges of first-degree murder.

Dorisme arrest came one week after the death of 13-year-old Rose Dieujuste.

Investigators said she was found unresponsive with serious injuries on the Fourth of July at an apartment complex along South Rio Grande Avenue.

Deputies said video on social media Thursday night showing Dorisme in custody.

Mina said he is planning to share more details on the arrest during a news conference at 10 a.m.

Detectives believe a kitchen knife was the murder weapon.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is also investigating “signs of sexual abuse,” Mina said.

Mina said they do not believe Jerry Dorisme knew Rose and had been watching people in the area for some time.

Records show Dorisme has had several arrests, including lewd and lascivious behavior and a conviction for child abuse.

Sheriff John Mina said Rose Thalie Dieujuste's murder was senseless and brutal. When deputies responded to Dieujuste's apartment complex on South Rio Grande Avenue just after 2:30 p.m., they say they found her inside a utility closet — stabbed, partially clothed, and barely alive.

Dieujuste was rushed to the hospital, but later died.

According to Mina, Dieujuste was on her way to visit a friend in another building when the attack and subsequent murder happened.

Dieujuste's friend found her phone and shoes on the staircase and immediately alerted her family. Dieujuste's loved ones began going door-to-door, knocking to see if they could find the teen.

That's when they found the 13-year-old in the utility closet.
