The Orange County Sheriff's Office is asking the community for information that could help lead to the suspect responsible for killing a 13-year-old girl on the 4th of July holiday.
Sheriff John Mina said Rose Thalie Dieujuste's murder was senseless and brutal. When deputies responded to Dieujuste's apartment complex on South Rio Grande Avenue just after 2:30 p.m., they say they found her inside a utility closet — stabbed, partially clothed, and barely alive.
Dieujuste was rushed to the hospital, but later died.
According to Mina, Dieujuste was on her way to visit a friend in another building when the attack and subsequent murder happened.
Dieujuste's friend found her phone and shoes on the staircase and immediately alerted her family. Dieujuste's loved ones began going door-to-door, knocking to see if they could find the teen.
That's when they found the 13-year-old in the utility closet.
