I would like to see more details of Ukraine’s proposal for “neutrality” with “international security guarantees” that they are willing to negotiate to end the war with Russia.

Russia rejects Ukraine 'neutrality' proposal, high-level talks see 'no progress' after Ukraine hospital attack

Thursday’s high-level talks in Turkey between Ukrainian and Russian foreign affairs counterparts ended in no progress for a potential cease-fire or for protecting civilians in the heavily bombarded Mariupol, even after Ukraine suggested a "neutrality" proposal with security guarantees from world powers.

<snipped>

Russia reportedly rejected Ukraine’s "neutrality" proposals that promised international security guarantees, according to the Financial Times. The two sides discussed a 24-hour cease-fire but did not make progress, as Russia was still seeking "surrender from Ukraine," Kuleba said.

Is there anybody who has a clear view on news agencies that will not allow making up things, adding things not said, coloring things. Is relatively pure, giving back information? Maybe impossible....but it is annoying me very much. Of course I believe in the ANP, because every little thing is checked and double checked before it has been reported. When doubts....that is what they literally say in the report....we are not 100% sure...some things have to be confirmed officially.
Sorry, what is ANP?

Unfortunately, most of the trustworthy sources are behind a paywall. The free online media depend on inflammatory headlines to attract readers.

I look at Reuters, it's free and trustworthy, but it actually doesn't have much coverage because so little info is available to reporters.

I'm sure that military intelligence knows exactly what is going on, but no way are they going to share that with reporters.

Personally, I don't need to know every detail of who allegedly said what. I am trying to keep my mind clear to just send wishes that those in power find the best solutions they can, and that the people in Ukraine return to their normal lives of peace and security very soon.

I think we need to just double check everything at this point. For instance, I follow Kyiv Independent (I'm the one that got them approved here), but I'm pretty choosy as to what I share.

I also follow unapproved sources and try to match information up.

Don't franchises have to buy everything from McDonald's? I'm guessing they stopped supplying Russian franchises. This has to open McD's up to many lawsuits?

I'm sure they do. Normally, McD locations are run by franchisees but in Russia 84% are still run by the company. The remaining 16% will be operated by franchisees. I wonder if those will keep their restaurants open. If the percentages were flipped I wouldn't be surprised if the owners would be compelled to remain open by some kind of decree.

Captured Russian soldiers: We will be ‘dead’ if we are sent back home

Prisoners of war (captured Russian soldiers) say they will be seen as failures and ‘shot by our own people’ if exchanged by Ukrainian forces

On Wednesday, after sustained pressure, Russia's defence ministry admitted that it had used conscripts in Ukraine.
( They had been denying this in numerous reports)

Interesting...about the conscripts, but "we" already knew.....

Russia admits sending conscripts into Ukraine, some were captured

Published: 1:23pm, 10 Mar, 2022

Russia’s defence ministry acknowledged that some conscripts were taking part in the conflict with Ukraine after President Vladimir Putin denied this on various occasions, saying only professional soldiers and officers had been sent in.

The ministry on Wednesday said that some of them, serving in supply units, had been taken prisoner by the Ukrainian army since the fighting began on February 24.

Citing Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the RIA news agency said Putin had ordered military prosecutors to investigate and punish the officials responsible for disobeying his instructions to exclude conscripts from the operation.

Some associations of soldiers’ mothers in Russia had raised concerns about a number of conscripts going incommunicado at the start of what Kremlin calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine, suggesting they could have been sent to fight despite a lack of adequate training.

<......>

“Unfortunately, we have discovered several facts of the presence of conscripts in units taking part in the special military operation in Ukraine. Practically all such soldiers have been pulled out to Russia,” the defence ministry said, promising to prevent such situations in the future.

One mother of a conscript, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said her 19-year-old son’s military unit was sent south to the Russian city of Kursk soon after he started his military service and was then moved to Belgorod, a town closer to the Ukrainian border, for training.

She says that judging by the few phone calls she had received, he had not yet been deployed into Ukraine and had not signed a contract to do so. “I am not sure what will happen tomorrow,” she told Reuters by telephone.

Xi Jinping 'unsettled' by Vladimir Putin's difficulties in Ukraine

Xi Jinping 'unsettled' by Vladimir Putin's difficulties in Ukraine
The Chinese leader has been surprised by the strength of the Western response, according to US intelligence

China is not allowing much free discussion of the war in China. However, we can be sure their military leadership is studying the Ukraine war, not only as it pertains to their wish to take over Taiwan, but also in terms of how poorly the Russian troops and plan seem to be performing. This will end up going back very negatively on their assessment of Putin's strength.

For the meantime China can deliver words against the conflict from afar. But they are observing every tick of the clock and every new development.

My notes: China is planning for 5-, 10-, and 50-years from now. Putin's viability is being very much scrutinized. They have a very ambitious China Road and Belt project that would link Europe, Russia, the mideast, eastern Africa, and continental Asia under a series of roads, giving them an immense economic impact on trade in every area. Their advantage in precious metals and non-oil resources would make them the world's economic powerhouse. Russia cannot possibly compete with this, and if Russia is far diminished by turnover and a crashed economy, they will be much more likely to sign on to allow China to provide the roads.

We should always keep our eyes on China, they are quite, but very methodical, extremely ambitious, and have absolute authority over their people.

From the site Het Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau - ANP (General Dutch Press agency)

Assumptions and inaccuracies are increasingly used in today's society as a 'source' for news. That is why, especially now, it is important that you can rely on an independent source that provides reliable news in a transparent manner. That's what the ANP does. The ANP provides daily news to almost all Dutch news media and offers companies and organizations news and communication services.

News based on facts.
The ANP news provides a reliable source on which almost all Dutch media rely. More on the negotiations that took place with foreign ministers from Ukraine and Russia today in Turkey

“Zelensky’s Servant of the People party on Tuesday said states such as the US, Turkey or Ukraine’s neighbours could act as guarantors, if their concrete political, economic and military responsibilities in this capacity were formalised.”

Edited to add: The Ukraine negotiators are proposing that they would consider neutrality as a condition proposed by Russia, if there are international security guarantors.

Are Pon and Ling Long brands of Chinese manufactured tires? I couldn't find that information in the link you included in your post. Most of the vehicles driven in the major cities in China are manufactured by Mercedes, Honda, and other car makers and are specifically made for the Chinese market, very upscale, and I've never heard of any problems they have with their tires. Just my experience. So am curious about the source of this statement.
To answer you question,it seems the brand : “Yellow Sea YS20 tires”

Unlike the rest of Europe, Ukraine uses the same larger gauge (bigger width) tracks that Russia does. The chicken and egg problem for the Russian military, Vershinin asserted, is that its needs “to take major cities” that sit on key junctions to control the railways, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Kherson and Mykolaiv — all cities that have seen major fighting.”

Senators seek to freeze Russian gold reserves

Senators seek to freeze Russian gold reserves

Today, Russia holds $130 billion in gold reserves in the country and is able to exploit a loophole in the existing sanctions targeting its central bank by allowing government officials and oligarchs to launder money through gold, according to the senators.

Due to this loophole, the Russian Federation is now buying gold to offset the devaluation of the ruble and then selling that gold on international markets in exchange for high-value currency, the senators said.

Fair question.... but how to answer?? I just don't think we have lived in this tumultuous a time, with media coverage...... EVER. This is such unchartered territory and horror.
I, for one, have found Al Jazerra to be pretty solid showing multiple views, but I do not follow them constantly .... but I am posting a recent post of theirs to keep engaging your question.. I would appreciate others opinions to Aljazerra, AND your more global question......

i admire your due dilligence... it is painfully hard and exhausting, I am sure...

Agreed. I have had Al Jazeera app on my phone for quite a while, mostly to stay in touch with other points of view.
