OK if we agree that this was a well planned homicide, we move on to the next logical question.

Who had the most to gain?

IMO it is either a financial gain or a crime of passion.
If it is indeed about financial gain, or a crime of passion, then that should narrow the suspects down to a manageable number.

Guess what I found...

:(

"Supreme Court hears how Ballarat mother Kobie Parfitt was killed and

dumped in a mineshaft."

Wow that’s horrible! I guess it shows a body can be found if it’s down a mineshaft.

However it also shows how important digital data like phone records and GPS come into play. It also shows how life isn’t like a TV show where it’s solved in an hour. It taking 8 months of investigating to find her body.

It also shows how moronic someone must be while committing a crime, to take any form of digital device with them. IMO

There’s the obvious talk of financial gain being the statistical one, which I don’t need to mention. There’s also been talk of bikies and money laundering and insurance fraud as well.

If you had a business similar to SM and MM, and you weren’t as successful as theirs (I believe they are a company of choice for many insurance companies that’s stated on their website), maybe putting them outta business might serve as some kind of financial gain/benefit for your own business. I obviously don’t know the intricacies of SM and MM’s financial status, but they seem to be going ok, the upgrade of the business, turning it into one of Ballarat more successful panel beaters. The purchasing of a 2.1 million dollar property (Ballarat avg house price is 600k) which since its purchase has had upgrades, such as electric/automatic fence, a very large shed and a in-ground pool. Being this well off, or at least appearing to be, could ruffle some jealous peoples feathers the wrong way.

I’m not saying this is the case, it’s just one of many many theories I have swirling around my head.

IMO

That is the rabbithole I’m trying to go down at moment, whether any other family members were working there, apart from sister in law.

The one question I wish we could ask, is who has the AVO against them.
I must have missed something. I knew about a DVO, but didn't know it was against them. I thought it was them who took out the DVO. Makes a huge difference.

Good old Dr Google says that chloroform slows the heart ... depending on dosage, can slow it down significantly, but not to the point of stopping it.
This is incorrect, chloroform can be lethal. It has been used both in suicides and homicides in history, and a large number of accidental medical fatalities.

Why do you believe there was a 'script'? Show invites some 'experts' they speculate off the top of their heads. IMO, these shows are not scripted.

JMO
They do have basic scripts and rundowns. "Fmr det brings up theory re possible motives" "Specialist asked to expand on known evidence re specific data" they then speculate, edit, format to include ad breaks etc There are definitely scripted questions, intros, throwing to others, even when someone is supposed to interrupt. Hosts will have lots of things that need to go in. Voiceovers, narrations, quoting LE. Its all scripted, the speculation will often be known beforehand, they do pre-interviews. People know their role and whats expected of them. There's lots thats edited out. Legal are right across it and they might say "thats borderline defamatory cut it" or "that might prejudice a trial-say it another way". The producers might want the panellists to have a loosely structured brainstorm but that is generally done pre-filming. Panellists need to be aware of their legal responsibilities and the network is ultimately accountable if something is broadcast that hinders a current investigation or any future judicial proceeding. I wasn't enamoured of this episode, its not my cup of tea journalism wise but I also know that they are working within very narrow parameters. The really compelling stuff would be the panellists/specialists talking with each other off camera.

Yes they would be my two top theories, I think there is a reason for the families complete silence, they are either scared or know it’s a waste of time.
I think lots was going on behind the scenes with this family.I dont think MM is guilty though.

No, not incorrect. Chloroform is not always lethal. It's only lethal if the dose is high enough. It is otherwise used to make the victim compliant.

Chloroform was specifically discontinued as an anaesthetic due to a high rate of deaths. Some people's hearts just stop beating when exposed to even a 'safe' clinical level. It causes ventricular fibrillation in animals, this was observed by people studying its effects in the lead up to its discontinuation.

Here's an article: A short history of anaesthesia: from unspeakable agony to unlocking consciousness.

But for more detail, I highly recommend The Poisoner's Handbook by Deborah Blum, which has a whole section on chloroform.

Despite all the fear about the predecessor, 'unsafe' ether, a 1934 study using data compiled by The Lancet proved 'safe' chloroform was far, far more lethal. Many went back to using ether until the development and ready accessibility of more modern sedative drugs was established, namely, nitrous oxide and hexobarbital.

One last thought about the TV programme:

The finishing statement about "the public's help" in solving this crime does NOT sound reassuring IMO :(

I fear there is a long way before we see Justice for Samantha.

I hope I'm wrong.

JMO

Samantha may have found a way to leave a clue.
Hopefully the police are well into finding out what happened.

I was just thinking of the scratches on Gerard Baden Clays face, you know those ones he said were done by a "caterpillar"
