"Michael Bartley, Lukaitis' fiance who reported her missing Monday, told investigators that she told him that she and Drayton were going to Charleston to get prescription pills, according to an arrest affidavit."

"Bartley declined to talk about the pills but said his fiancee would take people at their word. "She was doing a favor," Bartley wrote. "She would do that."

This seems to be the most complete report I've seen to date:

Do you think her fiance knew she was taking him for drugs? I'm thinking he might have known.

Such a risk with twin toddlers at home.

I think it turned into more than drugs on that trip for him. From news stories she put up a fight because he had cuts and scratches on his chest, arms and hands.

BBM, Looks like you called it Ruby. Apparently he knew.

I know people respond differently to stress and grief, but isn't there is something a little hollow about this fiance's response to the loss of the love of his life (see link below)? Is it just me? I'm trying not to judge here but just an initial impression. Why doesn't he want this guy strung up by his fingernails?

I can understand your apprehension; I think he's probably still in shock. I was surprised he waited 12 hours to report her missing, but surely this guy is being harder on himself than anyone else could be. I get the sense he feels guilty about letting her go in the first place. Poor guy, I can't imagine the pain of losing the love of ones life, especially with two young boys.

I'm still really confused about the crime though. I'm trying to imagine what would have transpired that led him to kill her. I don't think he planned it because it was obviously sloppy. Something must have happened; I'm also interested to find out if a SA occurred.

I think there is way more to this story. jmo

Yeah I am thinking there is more to it as well. Sadly, this young mom put herself in a position of danger, as it is always dangerous to make a drug run. Of course she couldn't have know she would be killed and of course it is this SO's fault, not hers, but if only she hadn't gone...her kids would have a mom. :(

I'm also trying not to judge but her father left me with the same initial impression after just watching his PC.

This case has me shaking my head. I have so many questions and a nagging feeling that there is more to this story.

On the last evening of her life, Lukaitis said she was not feeling well, according to Bartley. She told him she wanted to get some rest.

Bartley headed to his parents' house with the boys.

Later that evening, Lukaitis called from the road to say she giving Drayton a ride to Charleston, where he planned to pick up prescription pills, Bartley said, adding he did not know what prescription the pills were for.

While Bartley said he was a little uneasy, giving friends a ride is what Lukaitis sometimes did.

She was one of the few people in the couple's circle of friends who had a car, and they often asked her for a lift.

"She was naive in a lot of things," Bartleysaid. "She had a problem saying 'no.' If she was down to her last $10, she'd give it to you if you asked."

As the night wore on and Lukaitis did not return, Bartley grew concerned.

He called Lukaitis repeatedly until nearly 2 a.m.

Lukaitis never answered.

Bartley said he was able to reach Drayton sometime after 9 a.m. Monday morning.

This answered my question about why it took almost 12 hours for Bartley to report her missing.

My thoughts and prayers for this family and hope that justice will bring final closure to their heartbreak.

Oh, this is so sad and senseless. Hopefully, the car will have some forensic info that will nail this murderer. Does SC have the death penalty? Going to catch up now and see if there is anything i missed.

This has probably already been answered but OH HECK YEAH WE GOT THE DEATH PENALTY and aren't afraid to use it!!!!
