LE needs to arrest the individuals scaring children and woman using clown masks. They are obviously up to no good and they will escalate their behavior until someone gets hurt, raped, or killed IMO.

Wow! That's a stretch. You can't arrest someone because they look creepy or because they are wearing clown makeup or masks.

I don't understand why so many people are afraid of clowns. I used to think it was a "phobia of the week" that just caught on, and people just started agreeing, saying "oh, me too! I'm afraid of clowns too!" - because I couldn't imagine people actually being frightened. But it must be true. Is it the makeup? I'm curious.

I don't know but the older I get the more creeped out I become of them. Oh, what bad could ever come from a grown person disguising their appearance in a friendly way while wanting to play with children? :scared:

Ok I found one brief mention of shots fired in regards to the story.

Alongside the reports of clown sightings, an incident report filed at Fleetwood Manor describes a report of gunshots fired in the area. According to that report, a deputy was told that men from the complex had heard about the reported clown sightings. Witnesses told deputies the men fired shots into the woods after hearing noises, according to the report.

Doo Doo and his comrades are helpful clowns!

[h=1]Doo Doo the Clown saves 2 women from alleged attacker in Toronto[/h] By Lama Nicolas and David Shum Global News
TORONTO — A Toronto-area clown is being hailed as a hero for shielding two women in his vehicle after he allegedly spotted them being attacked by a man in a “rampage” in downtown Toronto on the weekend.
Shane Farberman, also known as Doo Doo the Clown, was driving home from a performance on Front Street near Bathurst Street on Sunday at about 3 p.m. when he spotted a barefoot man wearing only shorts and a t-shirt leaping on the hood of cars.
Faberman told Global News he appeared “out of control” and called 911.
Following a brief pursuit, which was filmed on his vehicle’s dashcam, Faberman said he saw the man push a woman on the street.
It was at that point Faberman screamed at the two women to enter his vehicle with his two other clown colleagues in the back seat.
After police arrived, Faberman said it took eight police officers to subdue the man.

I know I didn't say ban any of those things...but it's my prerogative to feel creeped out by that. I am aways skeptical of adult men, who use costumes and play to befriend children. I don't care if it's not PC. That is definitely a way predators could lure a child in. That's not to say all, most or even any have any ill intents, most are probably great people who simply love putting a smile on a child's face, but it definitely raises my alert level.

That's a habit I have had since being involved in a violent attack years ago, but, just be aware you may get a startle! I check mine morning and night, and this week I had a rather large rat just sitting on the doormat! Now my house and yard are very clean, no hiding places for critters, no junk, etc. but our neighborhood doesn't treat the sewers for rodents, which in turn leads to our large bobcat population... But I did about jump out of my skin! I told my husband the shocking thing about it was how nice the rat looked! Shiny coat, plump, clean...the snazziest wild rat I have ever seen LOL! But considering that made me jump back I can't imagine what seeing a clown would do. I would probably kick the bucket on the spot!

My thing is, who is doing this and why? School has gone back, so I doubt summertime pranksters. Perhaps someone imitating those clowns who are known for doing this?

I think it's due to halloween approaching. All of the costumes are coming out in stores. Some of this may be young people wanting to prank folks just to scare them. I think the more the story spreads, the more people think it would be funny to dress up and scare people.

So, anyone for a good night's sleep here?

[h=1]Sweet Dreams: Nevada’s Creepy Clown Motel[/h] [h=3]Do you dare spend the night at this clown-themed inn?[/h]

It may sound like the setup of a freaky book by Stephen King or R.L. Stine, but the Clown Motel is very real. Nestled in the former mining town of Tonopah, Nevada, this not-so-amusing inn caters to bikers, truckers, and other long-haul drivers—but isn’t exactly the place to spend the night if you suffer from coulrophobia.

Its lighted sign of a grinning, juggling clown gives you plenty of warning as to what you can expect. If that doesn’t do it, then walking into the lobby and meeting a life-size clown slumped in a chair with smaller clown dolls clustered in his lap should do the trick.

I think you can arrest people for disguising their appearance in some places. I think I read the town this started in has laws against that. Long weekend and busy, I may be mistaken.

You are correct.

http://www.greenvilleonline.com/sto...fice-police-address-clown-sightings/89729508/

Addressing the incidents at a media conference Thursday, Greenville Police Chief Ken Miller said officers will arrest and charge anyone dressed up as a clown.
"It's illegal. It's dangerous. It's inappropriate, and it's creating community concern so it needs to stop," MIller said.

According to South Carolina state law, no one over the age of 16 can appear in public wearing a mask "or other device which concealed his identity." The statute makes exceptions for people whose trade or employment involves wearing a mask. There's also a city of Greenville ordinance that prohibits "molesting, disturbing or following persons."

ETA: I've been on WS too long, when I think clowns I think John Wayne Gacy. The stuff of nightmares.

There are people in this world who dress up and act like clowns; I don’t like these people.

I am not clownophobic (or to be politically /scientifically correct, coulrophobic). I do not fear clowns. Really. I don’t. They are just not nice people. They scare little kids, they cause neurosis in some adults, they have big floppy feet, they try to fit too many of their kind in a car, I could go on and on.

BBM. Reading this thread with amusement / bemusement, until I saw that line and spat my tea out! So funny!!

So... is this all real or not?
