No idea why she would have been in SC from WA, but perhaps Rhonda Burse, a dancer who went missing from WA in early August 1977 but had also worked in TX and CO, so was known to move around. As a dancer she may not have walked with a stoop, but I know plenty of girls whose mothers sent them to dance to improve their posture, so perhaps she could have disguised any shortcomings imply by her fitness levels. Circumstances (last seen getting into a car in WA) mean she may be unlikely, but there are few black females in the missing records for this time, so I think it's worth putting as many as possible out there for consideration. Doe Network says she has DNA available.

Or Jennifer Barton from TX who was a prostitute seen getting into a van with CA plates in May 1976 and had spoken about travelling to CA. Was that a ruse and did they head in the other direction? www.doenetwork.org/cases/535dftx.html

I'm reading thru this case and I think this is in South Carolina, not Florida. It does mention Palm Beach County as they are assisting. Maybe I am not understanding this correctly??

“We are asking the public to please take a look at these photographs of the facial reconstruction to see if you might know who this individual could be,” Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis said. “We would like to get in contact with the next of kin of this victim so they can have their remains laid to rest, properly.”
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. - (Wednesday, May 11, 2022) The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in an attempt to identify skeletal remains that were discovered in 1977. The case has been making improvements due to the efforts of the Cold Case team and Detective John Plitsch.
On October 4, 1977, skeletal remains were discovered by a worker clearing brush at a location that was previously known as Tidewater Builders Inc., off of Highway 52 in Goose Creek. The current address to that location is now 122 Sawgrass Avenue in Goose Creek. At the time of the skeletal remains discovery, Coroner George Murray responded to the scene and recovered the remains and transferred them to the Medical University of South Carolina for an analysis.
On June 8, 2020, the remains were transferred to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and a death investigation was opened in an attempt to identify the victim and determine if a crime was committed in the death of the victim.
The remains were recently transferred to the University of North Texas Center for Human Identification Forensic Anthropology for a further analysis.
At this time, the investigative efforts have been exhausted and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the deceased.

Berkeley County Jane Doe 2

NamUs
Unfortunately, the write-up for this case is a short one. I did my best to find as much public information as possible about a woman only known as Berkeley County Jane Doe, but because this case reaches far back to October 4, 1977, there is very little to be found. News reports are almost non-existent as are updates about this investigation. To be fair, authorities did not have much to go on, and now that it has been decades since this woman’s remains were located in Goose Creek, South Carolina, there does not seem to be any interest in finding out who she is and if she has any remaining living relatives.

According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System(NamUs), the Berkeley County Jane Doe case was launched after workers were clearing a vacant lot and came across something strange. It is unclear what portion of the remains were initially located, but it was reported that Berkeley County Jane Doe was found skeletonized. The remains were scattered. There wasn’t information shared about when investigators believed she actually died. The cause of death is unknown, as well.

When Berkeley County Jane Doe was discovered, the Medical Examiner determined that she likely walked with a marked stoop, which is characteristic of people with certain medical conditions or the elderly. A stoop is described as when a person stands or walks with the posture of their head or upper back best forward (may even be referred to as a hunchback, but that is a different condition). It was estimated that she stood between 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, but due to the state of the remains, her weight could not be determined. Her hair color and eye colors are unknown. She could have been any age between 20 to 75.
A forensic artist’s composite has been included in this article.
Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 719-4465 or their local authorities. The agency case number is 2020-06005349. The Medical Examiner case number is FA77-676.

Anderson Independent, 6 Oct 1977; noting the article date (a Thursday) suggests the date of location as 4 Oct. (Tuesday). Apparently the skeleton was sent to MUSC Pathology Department.

Took a look at Google Maps to see what this location looks like. Granted this case is from 1977 and maybe some things have changed but location "122 Sawgrass Avenue in Goose Creek" is just off Highway 52 northbound side. Also running parallel to Highway 52 near this address are railroad tracks. Highway 52 on Google Maps also has another name, "N Goose Creek Blvd"

Highway 52 according to Wikipedia:

U.S. Route 52 in South Carolina - Wikipedia

"U.S. Route 52 (US 52) is a north–south U.S. Highway that travels from Charleston to the North Carolina state line near Cheraw. It serves as a strategic highway through the central part of the state."

Are there any significant Caribbean/ West Indian communities in South Carolina or more specifically Charleston?

Where exactly is the information indicating she may

poss from Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica or Bahamas, Oct' 77

as indicated in the thread subject, with other inferences to descent in other posts?
