Around 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, the child's mother, Breanna Lewis, 19, said that she was walking to check her mailbox at her home in the 200 block of Daisy Lewis Ln. off of Jackson Rd. East when a tan and gold colored SUV stopped in the middle of the road. She said a white man about 6'2" wearing a black coat, toboggan and a black glove got out of the car, punched her in the head several times, grabbed her 11-month-old daughter, Harlee Lane Lewis, and sped away. Lewis said she had never seen the suspect before.

Lewis admitted that she made the story up about the abduction, but she will not tell investigators how the baby came to be in the plastic bin. Officials said she is the primary suspect in this case.

The child's father had recently committed suicide and his family had been working to get custody of the child.

So was it a plastic bin or a diaper box or a plastic bag or some sort of combination of the three?

Mother a suspect in daughter’s death | Richmond County Daily Journal
“It is upsetting for us all,” Sheriff Jay Brooks told WSOC-TV. “You dread these, you never forget ‘em, you never forget the sight of a dead child.”
Lewis was taken into custody as a suspect and was questioned, along with other family members. Deputies later identified the infant as Lewis’ “missing” daughter, Harlee Lane Lewis.
Brooks told WSOC that as Lewis was telling her story a second time, it “started unravelling, things just weren’t adding up.”
An autopsy was performed Wednesday in Newberry, South Carolina, but results were not released.
The sheriff has scheduled a 10 a.m. press conference at his office Thursday.

Respectfully, I disagree with 'recently' if I go by what was posted by TH on Breanna's FB page. I don't consider October, 2016 to be 'recent'.

I've yet to see 'proof' that his family has been working to get custody of this precious child.

Is this the word of Breanna? I wonder if this is just poor reporting, or tales Breanna told?

I'm totally lost in this and would really like to see confirmation, other than what's being 'reported', that the father's family was working to get custody.

Call me CONFUSED.

Rest in Peace Sweet Angel, may your death not be in vain.

I snooped, and it appears people may have confused a public post made on FB by a friend on the deceased father's profile pic (of him with the baby's mother.) The friend was relaying personal experience where a baby - his nephew - grew up in poor circumstances and as an infant extended family weren't able to gain custody of him. The nephew grew up to be a liar and a thief. Why is he saying all this? No one can know for sure, but at the time of the post Harlee was about 1 month old. What a post tho, 10 months later, in retrospect.

Sorry, I haven't seen those posts. I was referring to posts made by the 'alleged' sister of the 'alleged father' of baby Harlee.

Bottom line.. Small town SC don't play. We don't hear much for the next 12 days. 24 hours (maybe?) And she goes before the judge, then 10 days before an arraignment. They will feed her and ignore her until then. That's SC for ya!

SOUTH CAROLINA AMBER ALERT: Mother of baby found dead in South Carolina facing new charge

Breanna Lewis, 19, was charged with filing a false police report and also improper disposal of human remains.
[.....]
Channel 9 learned that the coroner placed the time of death for the toddler at between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. That's about six hours before Lewis made the 911 call claiming she was assaulted and her daughter abducted.

Maj. Briana Davis with the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office never believed that story.

"After 22 years of doing this job, certain things just didn't add up," Davis said.

She's one of two deputies who discovered the little girl. They were searching the isolated rental home on Jackson Road East when they discovered a large path and foot prints.
[.....]
Lewis initially blamed injuries and bruising to her face on the phony attack. However, deputies said that she was driving in North Carolina last week and was involved in a crash. She drove too fast around a curve and flipped her car, causing those injuries.

When paramedics arrived, she told them her baby was with her and in the car somewhere.

The paramedics were frantically trying to find the child in the car but Brooks said the child was not in the vehicle at all, but home with a babysitter.
[.....]
The autopsy on the baby was completed Wednesday but preliminary results are not being released yet. Full toxicology and blood tests could take several more days.

Lewis is still in jail and has not had a bond hearing on either charge.

Speculation: I wonder if she flipped her car on purpose and lied about Harlee being in the car as a premeditated move before murdering her baby? Maybe she planned to tell family the baby died in the car accident? But she was really stupid if that was her plan. Harlee was still alive with the babysitter and LE figured that out really fast. So maybe she went to plan B and made up the assault/abduction. Again, a really stupid plan. Did she think LE would not check and figure out her injuries came from a car accident?

I'm still questioning that those injuries occurred in a crash. According to the article posted above, she was going too fast around a curve and flipped her car. How does one receive that injury to both eyes, but no injury to their nose? Forehead? Something isn't right there.
