Well, you know, they want to be fed and cry when they are tired. All those hard to handle things.

Don’t forget that they also want to be kissed uncontrollably by their moms on thier fat little cheeks while they belly laugh hysterically with arms and legs swinging and kicking. So damn hard to handle all that.

If she saw him shoot himself, then I actually do have some sympathy for her. I lost my first wife to suicide two years ago tomorrow (June 1st) and I still have PTSD from it. Add a baby to that scenario and I honestly think the breakdown I had after her death would have been magnified a million times. Grief, possible post partum depression, the pressure of being a good mom when her decreased partner’s parents want the child? It’s a heck of a lot on anyone.

I’m not making excuses, I’m looking for explanations. I think there is a complicated back story to this, with a lot to do with mental illness.

I’m so sorry baby Harlee, you should have been safe and protected.
Praying for peace for you June 1st. (Today now)
I agree with what you have said.
I am so sorry about what happened to you and your wife.
Virtual hugs!
*not that anything will really help.
Try and make sure you do something for you that you enjoy today. Even if it's just 30 min to grab your favorite take out meal and eat it in your car. You need to promise yourself that at least once during the day, you do something for yourself! You deserve it!!!

My neighbor, a paramedic/firefighter might think I am nutty now....
embarrassed-smiley.gif
.....but I asked him about this case and what she mistakenly said after the car crash, about her child being in the car .....

According to my hunky paramedic neighbor, that is not at all unusual. He said that crash victims are often confused about who was or wasn't in the car with them, if they are involved in a big impact.

They are often disoriented and confused and will answer incorrectly about passengers, or no passengers and where they were going or coming from. He says they are trained to look closely for children or passengers in overturned cars or in surrounding brush, even if the driver says they were alone, because they are often in shock and don't answer correctly.

I don't want it to sound like I'm making excuses for her, but (as usual) I like to look at all sides of a situation. Something that I've been thinking about is Post Concussion Syndrome. My understanding of it is that it usually starts at least a few days after a head injury, and the severity of the head injury doesn't seem to affect the chances of it happening. Some of the symptoms of it are:
  • a headache
  • dizziness
  • vertigo
  • fatigue
  • memory problems
  • trouble concentrating
  • sleeping problems
  • insomnia
  • restlessness
  • irritability
  • apathy
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • personality changes
  • sensitivity to noise and light
It could account for her being more irritable with Harlee, her "blackouts", and a few other oddities in her stories. It still wouldn't excuse anything that happened, but it might explain some of it.

I have a guess on the food thing. I'm wondering if the house didn't have official boxed up packaged "baby food" so someone suggested she wasn't being fed properly? I have not used baby food with my last few children personally. I mash up real food at meals and they start with soft easier foods. No cereals and jarred fruits. When I read about the house not having baby food or appropriate food I immediately thought, "Hmm wonder what my pantry would have looked like to someone?"

When my boy was the same age as poor little Halee, he was eating much the same as your kids, it sounds, like. He got adult food that was prepared appropriately for him.
However it didn't occur to me to think about what the cops would have thought about my pantry/fridge when I read that, mainly because--

That said mom seems really unstable and it's hard to imagine she's actually carefully thinking through weaning and feeding baby solids.

Exactly. It did make me wonder what the heck they did find in there and what she was feeding that poor child. *shudder*

I don't see how she was able to care for a baby after a car accident like that. I was in one a few years ago, not nearly as bad as hers and didn't even hit my head. But, the pain was so bad I was on 2 medications for pain and a muscle relaxer. The day of the accident my husband had surgery so I had to care for him, make him meals, bring him drinks, etc. It was very difficult just to walk to the kitchen. If I had a baby I would've needed help, just for being on meds alone. The pain in such an accident is real. If the accident was intentional and then not to succeed but have resulting injuries to deal with...her coping abilities would be very low, imo.

I have a feeling that while it appears she wasn't mother of the year this very well could have been an accident as police suspect. I really hope so. This girl has serious life issues, tho. And how can one raise a child on a biscuit maker salary. So tough. This is where I wonder about her own mother.

I'm also appalled by the comments left by people on BL's fb. Not only did they cause her to delete comments, which could've potentially been evidence to motivation if the baby was murdered, it's an incredibly shameful fb lynching. I hope no WS members left such comments.

I'm often left feeling sympathy for people I'd otherwise might think were pretty awful people. FB turns people into monsters themselves it seems. People say the most hateful and vile things wishing horrible and painful deaths on other people. :( I don't know. I'm not even sure what comments are being referred to. I didn't see them. But I've seen enough. And it doesn't leave me very encouraged over the state of our culture.

In all the cases I've followed here, never have I posted a comment, negative or positive, on any POI/Suspect etc. FB page. I only read what's been posted.

Jasper52, I remember you now, from when I first started posting here (different account.) I'll just ask here...
Do you remember a case of someone jumping off an apartment balcony in an apparent suicide. Some thought it may have been murder. Several people were involved in the incident. I can't remember names or anything but I want to know how it panned out. Lol.

I can't, for the life of me, remember that case. Not sure if I followed it or not!

How would she have deleted the FB comments, was she released? Clearly someone has access to her page and is trying to filter out the smearing of her name. Good luck with all that.

Has it been officially confirmed that she was really in a car accident? I read the article where the police department talks about it but I can't discern if they are confirming it or just stating what she told them....The whole thing could be a lie.

SOUTH CAROLINA AMBER ALERT: Mother of baby found dead in South Carolina facing new charge

Has anyone read this yet? I'm finding it hard to believe that baby may have died from natural causes. You don't hide an infant and call the cops to lie about an abduction if you're innocent

I would agree with that in most cases, but in this case I'd keep an open mind about it. I think she might have wanted the attention that she expected to come from the abduction story and that even if it was a natural death she might be inclined to create a story far more shocking than the truth.

But I really hope they've been careful when ruling out something like smothering.
