Exactly what I am thinking, all the sightings even the confirmation of the Ice cream parlor were not LE.
The jeans sighting was confirmed by the same source.

Do we have independent confirmation of the dogs hits or is that the same?

I believe the dog hits were mentioned on the news. Johnny wearing jeans came from a source other than LE and the description was never changed other than to say he may be wearing other clothing. Then there's the umbrella I saw the man carrying. No one else saw that as far as I know.

Do you think that whatever was reported in the media came directly from LE? I hope so because that's all we've got to go on...

Happy :partyguy:Birthday!

And let me tell you OLG was looking at cafe's and ice cream parlors , as I drove ,to see if any of their table umbrellas matched the description . We felt so freakin' close to finding Johnny that day.

I have a somewhat (ok very much) OT story that happened today that really drives home the need for family involvement when a person with special needs goes missing.

As some of you know, my Mom has Alzheimer's Disease and lives at an Assisted Living facility near me.Today I was driving in to visit her and she was walking on the main road that leads to the Highway. It was truly divine intervention that I saw her because I was actually going to visit later in the day. I can't imagine if I'd arrived ten minutes later where she would be right now. They have moved her to the Alzheimers unit now and she'll have to wear an ankle bracelet. I have been so shaken and upset by this, that I spent most of the day breaking down in tears.

My point is--I ALMOST lost my mother today and I'm a basket case. She wouldn't know how to communicate where I lived or maybe even know my full name. She is safe, and I thank God for that, but I'll never understand how anyone would not be frantic if their loved one was missing. How can that be possible? And WHY?

:panic:

I wish I'd just driven to the Jiffy Lube, waited for him to get down there and then asked him if he was Johnny Brown. Again, the stupid pants made me think it wasn't and when you add in the bright umbrella it just didn't seem logical at that moment that it could be him.:banghead: The hat and shirt are the only things that cinch it for me besides the proper height, weight, and general appearance.

I didn't report it directly to the police but to someone else who was close to the investigation and was told they would tell them. I did tell the Surfside Police when I stopped in to talk with them and get some flyers. No one ever took a statement or talked to me about it. SPD may have assumed I already reported it to MBPD (whose case it is), but what if what I said never made it to the MBPD? That would be odd, don't you think?

We could tell you ,but we can't discuss it at the present time.:what:
It is beyond frustrating to feel so helpless, Steely Dan. We can only do so much, but I imagine with some help from others Johnny might actually have been found by now. You can lead an emu to water, but you can't make him drink....

My thoughts exactly Peek. We can't do any more without cooperation from others...Looks like this case is not going anywhere without that help you mentioned above...:(

I'm hoping that he gets picked up by the police for loitering or something. It's probably the best chance he has.

Peekerfoo, I am so thankful that your mom is safe! That truely was an act of God! I agree with you on the part BBM, as well as the part BBYou.
My mother is also in a nursing home and has dementia, bordering on Alzheimers. She is also blind, which would probably make it harder for her to leave the home, which may be a blessing. Before she became blind and was at home, she would try to walk off many times. Thank God your mom is safe...

Just a reminder that the numbers on the flyer I saw here were the same ones from the FB page and those numbers belonged to the family. That's why I called them first. Never in my wildest dream did I think Johnny would still be missing after all this time. If I knew then how things were going to go I would've gone straight to the police.

I agree! I've been thinking all day and evening about all the ways things could've gone very bad for her very quickly. I think about what if there was a traffic jam (which is common here) or what if I stopped to talk to a neighbor on the way out of my neighborhood? I feel so incredibly grateful tonight.

I'm sorry about your mom because being blind might make things scary for her even if she didn't wander. Dementia/Alzheimers is the new epidemic and it's only just begun. I hate it.

I don't post much on this thread.. but catch up every couple of days...

Does anyone know if Johnny's family received SSI or SSDI for him?? If so, was Johnny the person paid or was it a family member who was entrusted to use the money for Johnny?

I don't think we can answer that because it was asked and we KNOW the answer but we can't talk about what we KNOW because it has not been verified.

That hasn't been in any articles, but you can still go on with your thoughts :) Just say something like: 'if, theoretically, his family received SSI OR SSDI for Johnny...' or 'if, theoretically, Johnny is used to using his own SSI/SSDI..." and give your own opinion, theory, whathaveyou :)

Peeples... I love it when you show up in a case! Good to see you here, and thanks for asking. The answer is that I don't think we know - but from what I heard, he wasn't getting any kind of assistance.... which is weird in itself, if he was truly disabled. :waitasec:

Just want to give a hug to Peekerfoo, and the scary stuff she went through today with her Mom!!! I wish I could help in a way that made everything better. At the very least, please know that someone cares about what you went through, and you matter a great deal to us here at WS's. So glad you saw your Mom, and so glad she isn't missing. I wish you were not dealing with any of this, but you have us for support. I will always support Johnny Brown too... he seems like the innocent, lost victim in this horrible saga.

In my own opinion Reannan, you are probably right. MOO

For a caregiver of someone with a medical condition, communication disorder or cognitive impairment, an ID bracelet would be a wise investment, IMO. Medical alert bracelets require a fee, but they connect the caregiver to a 24-hour community response network. This would have been an invaluable tool for Johnny. I do hope Johnny is soon re-united with his family, but I hope they will consider getting him an ID bracelet when he returns.

This is so true, Indy Anna! Even in my mom's case, she had never been a "flight risk" before this, but you never know when things will change.

I had hoped he would be found by now.. or at least that the details surrounding him would be a bit clearer :(

OMG!! Peekerfoo, talk about divine intervention! I know you must have been awestruck, that you found your mother wandering around like that! I worked in nursing homes for 20 years or so, and we used to have people who would wander off occasionally. One guy was found wandering down the highway. It's a small town, so they were always found quickly. I know you are very relieved that it was you who saw her walking down that road. How far was she from the nursing home when you found her? So thankful for you and for her!

So, Johnny's sister has not been back here since she registered? How odd is that? Is it possible she could have lost her password and can't sign in?

The question about whether Johnny received some kind of SSI or disability is a good one, I wish we had the answer. Perhaps his checks are automatically deposited. I think this is how SS works these days, they don't send out paper checks anymore, so if that is the case, his checks would be going to his bank account every month. It would be interesting to know if any money has been withdrawn since he went missing. I'm certainly not accusing anyone, just thinking out loud. If they had to use some of his money to go back to MB to look for him, that would be perfectly understandable.

Peekerfoo,
please dont think I was saying you should have gone to the police, my point was that you did report it and who you reported it to.
Its telling imo, that that information was not recognised officially, there must be a reason for that if you see what I mean?
