thanks so much for sharing this...I missed it as usual. Impressive jurors..well spoken and I really liked the idea that some used breaks to go to the room and jot down notes and questions...nice way around not being able to take notes and probably more efficient. Clearly the defense should be taking notes on how many things impacted the verdict and the mistakes they and their client made. Going on the stand simply backfired on these jurors and the field trip actually helped seal his fate. So interesting to hear them tell their story.Three jurors from the closely watched Alex Murdaugh trial speak out about the case and the verdict. “The kennel video definitely played a major part,” one said
He has no conscience so will be no problem for him. I have to speculate as time goes along he will have fewer and fewer visitors....I don't think the appeal will go anywhere and he will get some attention for the remaining cases but in general he will fade into nothingness. How he will ever live with himself for the evil he did to his wife and son, that he so viciously murdered beats me. I hope Maggie and Paul will haunt him until his dying day.
God Bless Maggie and Paul, may they rest in peace knowing Alex has been found guilty for the evil he did that day.
the big take away for me from listening to attorney Bland is they would not have called 911 when she was still living as always a chance she would make it and could tell the story. I think this one is just AM taking advantage of a situation they sort of presented itself to him. Bland is not even interested in the exhaumation of the body as he does not think AM tried to kill her.Not sure the intent was to kill - you can claim an insurance payout from injury just as easily. MAYBE instead of laying her off due to finances, the intent was to rid himself of her services and make a little insurance $$ as a side benefit.
This could be true or not. I read early on that AM arrived on the scene of GS fall before first responders. My mind immediately went to if he was the cause. Did he confront her?? Like I said, it may or may not be true.I have some personal experience as well as experience caring for someone taking increasing amounts of oxycodone for cancer pain. I just don't think his accounts of taking up to 60 (according to some reports) of the 30 mg pills per day or even half that amount is credible. That's nearly 2 g. Even after many years of addiction, he would have been experiencing severe bouts of constipation, stupor, and noticeably erratic behavior. Maybe it's not technically entirely impossible, but these amounts just seem way too exaggerated and maybe was intended to somehow bolster his case.
Further, to be getting such amounts through black market channels it seems almost certain he would have also encountered "fake" Rx pills that were actually substituted with various amounts of fentanyl. Supply chains of illicit real Rx drugs were undoubtedly disrupted by the crack down on "pill mills" and over prescribing that occurred during the prior 5-6 years. That would have made his adidiction far more erratic and would also be astonishing that he hadn't od'd on fentanyl before now.
‘Mexican Oxy’ Flooding U.S. Black Market — Pain News Network
By Pat Anson, PNN Editor New York City police and DEA agents have announced the seizure of 20,000 counterfeit oxycodone pills made with illicit fentanyl. The pills, which have an estimated street value of $600,000, are blue in color and stamped “M” on one side and “30” on the other, making them virwww.painnewsnetwork.org
hum gotta wonder about that one!!! Can you just scratch off a name and replace without a witness etc.?Did Maggie Murdaugh Have An Insurance Policy? New Docs Shed Light
New documents shed light in the Mudaugh Murders latest update. Did Maggie have life insurance? How much money did she have?www.fitsnews.com
Wow, a lot of unpaid bills.
"Colleton County Probate documents filed this month reveal a troubling financial state for Maggie Murdaugh, the 52-year-old mother of two who was known to flaunt expensive clothes and purses.".
"John Marvin Murdaugh, Maggie Murdaugh’s brother-in-law, was made personal representative of the estate last year. This was after apparently Maggie’s sister’s name was scratched off as personal representative and someone wrote Randolph Murdaugh III’s name in the 2005 will"."
she has an interesting story to tell...she was literally part of that family for some time...young and not realizing anything other than life was a big party with the travel and houses etc. Now in retrospect I am sure she remembers so much that seems predictive of the future.Haven't watched Netflix series; however, read a few articles that it was well known M family home freely supplied alcohol to the young friends. Additionally, Ms. Doughty's story is an interesting one... read a few articles about her experience as well, many red flags were flying that family chose to ignore. moo

Ps… Glad you enjoyed the thought…. I think for taking a break between the next ‘bad/good’ one on here…. I am going to listen to some good old John Prine music. There is a fabulous one posted from San Francisco Park Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, circa 2017. Amazing for the heart and soul.
BBM This has bothered me. I really didn't think that it's legal to scratch off someone's name and change a will without it being acknowledged with an initial by the original party. I am surprised that the probate court accepted this. Maybe someone with more knowledge about it can share their expertise. Seems that Maggie's sister would have an opinion about it too. usually no...and if it was changed the way it appears, usually the very LEAST is that the author of the will initials it..I would think that someone could absolutely contest this..however, it doesnt change the content..just the executor.hum gotta wonder about that one!!! Can't really complain about the efficiency of the SC district trial court here but this quick opinion definitely marks the difference between State and Federal courts!I don't think we have a Lafitte thread, so I"ll post this here
Agree! My dh retired 11 years ago from a corporate VP job with the responsibility of 2,000 employees and a 16 million dollar annual budget. Upon retirement he immediately acted like we were on our way to the poor house and started nit picking on a daily basis forgetting that he left me basically in charge of the household for over 30 years and had done a pretty fine job of it. I told him that I did not need to be supervised or managed. It took a while but I thought I would loose my mind until he came around. The card in question was tied to her checking account - which is why the checking account is relevant.
Alec was borrowing $600,000 to try and pay back some of what he stole.
Thanks for the reminder about Blanca needing a paycheck.
And, well, if Maggie's account had so little money, maybe there wasn't - right then - money for a pedicure. Maybe she should have skipped it to pay for whatever else she was trying to use that account for.
Again, Alec was $300,000 over drawn.
I figure that if you've never been married to a financially controlling professional man, you might not know what they're like when money is tight. Some of us do. I've known more than one. In retrospect, some of the quarrels are hilarious (no one was killed - they actually loved each other, in their own way). But I could certainly regale you with the stories of attorneys, their wives, and their petty financial struggles (or, in the alternative, my own first marriage - to a very well-paid man).
Controlling people use money to control is another way of putting it. It's not about the bounced check - my point was distinctly different.
IMO.

remember in about every corner of the legal field in that area a Murdaugh or associate was involved.BBM This has bothered me. all she said is it went to motive and how he thinks.....that was allowed and I can't imagine any court in SC overturning this judge.I bet we are going to hear something from the defense on her comment about the financial crimes. I hope I'm wrong.
IMO, weird. Renounced personal rep role, declined to give victim impact statement, testimony was like walking a fine line, occasionally leaning slightly pro-defense.No, this was not a legal change to MM's LW&T (replace personal rep) and it was of no consequence since the candidate suggested was deceased. Also, MP was not removed by the probate court-- it was her choice. MP filed an affidavit to renounce her right to handle MM's estate and the probate court appointed JMM.
