I bought BH's book but have not read it yet, just another of some "one hit wonders" that through the years I bought. I have not followed all of the info out there so far, just know that her son is also in hot water for his alleged deeds. She may want to retire and lay low. She and others, may be finding out that what can be acceptable in small circles or a small town doesn't sit right with the outside world.
I live in a small north Florida town and see what is acceptable for one person is not for another depending on what the family name is and how many generations it has been here...and... don't talk about anyone, because they are generally related.

My problem with Duffie Stone is that he didn't recuse himself soon enough when the murders first happened. He was supporting his friend AM.

I am in favor of a State Grand Jury here. Oh this case, it really is a crap show.

AM's demeanor and words in Court were gross. He does looks happy and healthy though, seems to be thriving in prison to me. Good, he's going to be there a long time.

MOO

Reading this, I'm reminded of another case where complaints filed with Attorney Regulation Counsels and/or ethics committees (such as those outlined by Fits News filed against RH) don't make them true.

IMO, it's naive to think the powerful Murdaugh machine is anything but on life support or dead!

The entitlement and arrogance of both of these defendants is mind blowing, and leaves no doubt they were close friends of AM!

Here, we have Laffite, convicted in federal court in Sept 2022, and who was not ordered to report to prison until Sept 28, 2023 -- after given an additional week extension from Sept 14 by Judge Richard Gergel. Laffite still has not faced State Court charges where the case is not expected to go to trial until Sept 2024.

In his order, Gergel says the general rule in federal procedure is defendants are required to be in prison as sentenced even if they're appealing. The exception is that defendants may be granted bond during appeal if the panel deems their appeal likely to succeed upon initial review.

With those standards in mind, Gergel notes he's already denied Laffitte's requests for a retrial twice and once denied a motion for a directed verdict in Laffitte's favor. As such, Gergel says he doubts Laffitte's appeal will succeed.

Judge Richard Gergel's Order

On the other hand, we have Fleming who really seemed to bamboozle the Feds with his guilty plea for a single count of conspiracy (sentenced to 46 months), and believed Judge Newman was obligated to take a federal Court Judge's recommendation to give him a slap on the wrist for his 23 State charges!

Fleming pleaded guilty to a single count of fraud conspiracy in federal court last September, and was sentenced to 46 months for that charge. Newman sentenced Fleming to an additional 10 years in state prison after Fleming also pleaded guilty to all 23 state charges against him.

The wide stripes look good on him. I love how the stripes don't match. It's good to know that the state doesn't pay for a top-of-the-line seamstress,

Fleming is currently incarcerated at Federal Correctional Institution, Jesup, a medium-security prison in Jesup, Georgia, according to Department of Corrections records. Once he has completed his federal sentence, he will serve out the remainder of his sentence in state prison. Nov 1, 2023

Yikes. FITSnews posted the Ethics Complaint against the Clerk filed earlier this summer.

It alleges, in part, “it is well known; Hill allows guided tours of the Colleton County Courthouse during normal business hours for "donations" This information has been made on Facebook posts. In some of the posts, several cifizens are seen posing for pictures in the holding cell Murdaugh occupied during the trial. Hill tells attendees the donations are to replacethe front windows ofthe courthouse. It is also known a male tourist wrote a check to Colleton County in the amount of$100.00 as a donation for a tour. Hill later ordered a staff member to alter the check by striking through Colleton County and adding her name to the check. Hill then deposited the check into her personal bank account. The denotations are unaccounted for as there are no receipts being issued and it is unknown what financial institution and account the donations are being held in”.

It also includes the book signings she held for author Michael Dewitt inside the Courtroom, alleging that doing so interrupted normal courtroom business.

Forgetting the jury tampering, this doesn’t look great for her. JMOO.
Altering a check is seriously wrong.

O/T - Last weekend I watched the Clint Eastwood movie "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" based on the true story by John Berendt about a GA murder trial for a wealthy society figure, Jim Williams. It's an old movie but I was watching this time after all I learned following the AM trial and it was a different experience! Right down to the "low country food" served at the parties. I really liked the book too.

Altering a check is seriously wrong.

It certainly is because if true, it's a crime! But I also know that the act of typing an anonymous complaint does not make it true!

I've been here before where I also learned to give little if any credence to anonymous ethics complaints whereas I'd be more inclined to pay mind to a credible complaint filed with the police by somebody willing to sign their name to the serious allegations in pursuit of justice.

However, in the latest wave, one thing not alleged is additional allegations and/or evidence of jury misconduct or jury tampering by RH that harmed AM's opportunity for a fair trial.

Actually, I find it pretty disgusting how small town politics have found a way to use click bait MSM and an ugly backdoor to make and spread allegations about somebody that is more often than not the equivalent of hiding behind a computer while maligning the character of others without the victim having the benefit of being able to fairly defend themselves with the who, what and where. JMO

ETA: Also, allegations about RH making the courthouse a free for all for book tours/signing is easily debunked by referencing the actual court calendar.
