A hunter is still missing and the search is still on hold
It's been more than a month and a half since a hunter went missing in the Deerfield Lake area.

But South Dakota's terrain and past snow falls still have the search on pause.

On October 10th, the search was suspended and the status of the search has not changed.

"It already has in the other search near Deerfield that we were conducting because the elevations are higher there. So it's a different weather pattern. There's too much snow up their to search so it has stopped, that search," Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom said.

They will be searching for Larry and Serenity Dennard.

"Seven teams from Colorado Forensic Canines and Tri-State Canines are planning a four-day search for two long-missing persons in Pennington County. Teams from Colorado, Montana and Wyoming will arrive on Friday, May 15, and will search Saturday through Tuesday. The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Pennington County Search and Rescue and Rockerville Volunteer Fire Department will provide some support personnel." ...

Authorities waiting on autopsy results of body believed to be missing hunter, Larry Genzlinger
Authorities in Pennington County are waiting on autopsy results after someone potentially found the body of Larry Genzlinger.

“We’re just happy that the family is finally able to get some closure that was the ultimate goal, it was why we kept going out there as often as we did because we wanted to bring the family the closure that they deserved,” Lt. Dustin Morrison with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office said.

Based on his clothing, physical description and location, the body is believed to be Larry Genzlinger.

Larry Genzlinger, age 66, of Howard, passed away October 1, 2019, due to natural causes while hunting in the Black Hills. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the 4H grounds in Howard. Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery in Howard. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Friday, at Beach United Methodist Church in Howard.
