Something just seems off about the story about the people in the parking lot seeing her. Maybe there’s more to it than has been released?

Ever since I heard this story about the people seeing her walk away, I have had a bad feeling that someone is lying. The home, the parking lot people, LE to the media? Idk. We are missing a big piece of the puzzle. Hopefully LE/SAR know what it is.

The person wasn't by the cattle guard, they were in the car in the visitor's parking area. They came with another person to drop somebody off, I believe, although I don't know if it was a child or an employee. That person (in the car) saw Serenity by the cattle guard, per reports.

Thank you!
Multiple media reports made everything confusing at the beginning.
I had thought Serenity was seen by the cattle guard by another person who also happened to be driving by the cattle guard at the same time.

Do we know for fact (ie reported in MSM) that it was another parent picking up/dropping off a child? If so. I wouldn’t rule out their being involved but i would think it less likely that a parent took her. Wasn’t there a passenger in the car? Who is that person? Regardless of who they are, i still think they are key for many reasons... what was serenity doing exactly? Did she look happy, sad, scared, cold, etc? What was her demeanor, body language?

Are we sure it wasnt an employee or friend of an employee or non parent visitor? Was the passenger also an adult? Two adults being in the parking lot as serenity is “standing by the cattle gate” seems almost too convenient. Maybe not. Sorry I’m rambling.

BBM
I thought media reports stated it was a parent picking up/dropping off their child.
But I could be wrong.

That's a good 45 degrees below normal. And this coming weekend (the first weekend in March) is also supposed to be in the single digits and lower. Compare that to the first weekend in March last year, where the temperatures were in the mid-50s. There is nothing in the 10-day forecast that even gets up to freezing (32), let alone normal temperatures.
It is totally miserable for sure, amd I (sort of) understand why more isn't being done, but I really wonder WHY Western SD doesn't have crews trained for extreme weather.

To address those wondering if Serenity was picked up by someone, I hold out hope BUT I've visited the Home when a family member was there and driven past in all kinds of weather. As much as I hate to say it, it's a long shot.

One thing I want to add is that they have searched the properties in the area.

They also got search dogs in on one of the warmer days and the dogs hit along the creek that runs through the property. It's mostly 1 foot or less deep, but my family member who was there says they have made deeper holes for swimming in the summer.

Now, on a personal note, I asked my family member which way he would have ran to get to Sturgis,SD. He said '' would have hid till dark then went north. I showed the young man a map and he pointed to Keystone, which is South West. He's a year older than Serenity.

To address your first statement, why SD (South Dakota, not Serenity Dennard) doesn't have crews trained for extreme weather - since it sounds like you are familiar with the area, remember that LE's words were that it wasn't just the weather, it was a combination of the weather and the difficult and dangerous terrain, especially when snow covered. Would you agree with that?

If she hid until dark, she probably would have been overtaken by hypothermia while waiting---unless she found an indoor hiding place. JMO

Referencing the bolded part: When the dog hit on the creek, at the time, I wondered if it had iced over, and was she "skating" in her boots. Now that we know there could be deeper swimming holes, maybe they were iced over too. She could have fallen through thin ice and we won't know until it thaws more. If she wasn't a regular ice skater then she would not have recognized thin ice thus unaware of the danger. This terrain is not conducive to snowmobiles or ATVs.

I don't think anyone has mentioned the possibility of her being in the creek, but I think that is a definite possibility, especially considering that the search dogs found her scent there.

That's the issue, we don't have crews trained for the weather or the terrain.

Was that the one that had the employee admitting she was burning paper and she was arrested but charges were later dropped? Back 15 or so years ago?

I also found this one from last November. Was it close to the home as well?> Wildland Fire Burns 10 Acres Near Rockerville

Yep, that's the one. She was burning a "Dear John" letter despite a burn ban in the area. She got off because a previous conviction came to light and the judge thought it would prejudice the jury, and all other evidence (including her confession) was circumstantial.

The second one was actually closer to Rapid City.

As far as I know, the kids don't skate on the ice. It's far more likely she either was there the day before she went missing when it was 50 degrees or she slipped down the bank after running.

I believe that's not technically correct. The search dogs didn't track her scent there. It was the cadaver dogs who found a scent there, not the search dogs, and I don't think the cadaver dogs are trained in specific scents of people, just detection of cadavers. In which case, it wasn't specifically Serenity's scent that was specifically tracked or scented there. It was just a scent that interested the cadaver dogs. It may or may not have anything to do with Serenity.

Also, the creek is on the same side of the road as the Home, thus the walking bridge over the creek. But the last sightings of Serenity were at the cattle guard (between the road and the creek) and the road itself. If she did, in fact, cross the road and head into the hills, then she was last seen moving in the opposite direction from the creek. Of course, that doesn't strictly speaking rule out the creek, if she doubled back because she was cold. Also, the creek does cross under the road to the north, although it appears to be much shallower there, so if she headed generally north then she could have encountered it there. I don't know exactly where the dogs found an interesting scent.

Where is this child? No news, ever. None of this makes sense.

Thank you to all who posted pics and more details since I have last been on the page of her, the home and grounds, the footbridge, etc. Seeing these grounds and how far she would have to go actually adds to my confusion.

Do we have any idea how long she was at the home? Last I knew we did not know that nor much detail. I wonder because I wonder about her familiarity with the grounds, creek, road, etc., paths, different seasons...

I am just adding related info in this post in regards to her size. My little one is almost 9 and her last checkup showed her at about 4 1/2 feet tall and 62.5 lbs. I was told she was right where she should be. I’m more or less thinking the media flipped the numbers and she’s 69 lbs. IMO.
