Context-Travis and Lisa are very much involved and are discussing marriage on and off for the entire month. Taylor said to JM in an interview that TA told his bishop, at the end of January, hed violated the law of chastity (with the ).
Perhaps this was in anticipation of marrying Lisa? Mimis father is one of the bishops who knew of this confession, and the fact that TA lost his Temple Recommend as a result.
Travis is also facing financial difficulties serious enough that he has to borrow money to meet his January mortgage and is concerned he may lose his house.
Travis has already endured over a year of her malicious craziness by this time. Despite being told she's not invited, shes driven hundreds of miles to sleep under his Xmas tree and to greet his house full of guests telling them all she is his GF (12/06); shes lied to Sky and Chris about how TA treats her in order to have them coerce TA, then lied to TA about what the Hughes said to her, hoping to drive a wedge between TA and 2 of his best friends (2/07); shes sent herself a fake stalker email to guilt TA into inviting her to come live in Mesa (4 or 5/07) and has already threatened Travis that shell commit suicide; she's eavesdropped on Sky, Chris and TA talking about her, behind closed doors, late at night, and when caught both times has so creeped out the Hughes they never want in her in their house again, but JA, when told that to her face by Sky, doesn't leave until TA escorts her own, that day causing a serious rift in TA's friendship with the Hughes; shes decided he is about to propose to her but is so freaked out when Travis helps an unsteady friend down the stairs that she decides TA is cheating on her and snoops his phone while he is sleeping, finding probably nothing in particularperhaps it is Travis who decides to become unofficial after that?
Shes moved to Mesa, and then moved again to be as close as she can get to his house, even though he has strongly loudly and adamantly told her he does NOT want her in Mesa; shes peeped through his window to spy on him with Lisa, followed them on dates, come into his house uninvited when he had Lisa over (8, 9, 10/07); he thinks shes slashed his tires, twice, but isnt entirely sure (12/07),and Lisa has broken up with him after TAs roommate (who JA has enlisted as an ally) gets the word to Lisa that TA is cheating on her with JA; shes snooped his journals, emails, and texts (Travis still thinks this has happened only occasionally); shes borrowed his car almost daily and has messed with him countless times about returning it to him when she said she would so he could get to FHE or whatever else on time; shes made it a habit to call and text him when she knows hes with friends or on his way out the door or trying to work or just trying to breathe for a little bit without her intruding, and almost always the texts are to ask his help or advise on completely trivial matters; shes gas lighted him on things small and large another countless times, then blamed him for misunderstanding her or her intentions, making him feel guilty and apologetic.
And thats just what we know he knew about her and what shed done to him. And yet
seemingly it isnt until January and February 2008 that he begins to genuinely run out of patience with her. Hes afraid of losing everything hes worked so hard to achieve. And the ? Heres the

January 2, 2008.
Her journal. (Only the right half of this page in her journal was scanned, so I missed it the first several times I read her journals. This entry included the only mention I have ever seen in texts or journals or emails (in other words, anywhere) of her giving TA a gift).
Gave TA a belated Christmas present: Five Love Languages, in hardback. Read the whole book, discovered my primary language is "quality time," "words of affirmation" is second. TA guessed wrong- said my primary was physical touch, though I guess I can understand why he thinks that. His first is "words of affirmation." Took some food from Applebees and brought it to TAs house to eat. Good day.
(Reality- JA had his car, was very late in returning it to him, book talk and Applebees and the massage she asked TA to give her must have been squeezed into a short time, given other texts of the day. TA had conference call from 6-8PM, and was texting with Lisa hoping shed come over to hang out afterwards, JA sends him a very edgy text first thing on the morning of Jan 3).
Jan 3. 08.
Her journal. Stress level unhealthy at Varneys. Love family but cant handle it, left crying, went to TA and confided in him but didnt break confidentiality policy. He tempts me to do bad things to him! Sent him a text saying hed cheered me up BIG TIME, he sent me one saying Id already made it a great day for him.
(Reality- TA and Lisa are talking -seriously-about marriage on and off throughout January. In the first week of January they are spending hours every day texting about that and their days and little things. He is barely in touch with JA, though he does tell her on the 9th good news that he will be running briefing and trainings in Mesa, to which she says great news! I have an idea, take me to Disneyland!! Persist for days about him taking her there).
January 10. Auctioned my house today. Will most miss the trees I planted which flourished under my care. I am wiser now, lesson learned, will be more financially solid because of it.
Been more consistently happy in past few weeks than in the past few months. Read back through journals, dark times in my world, but what will help is putting together a dream board. Finally got internet today!
January 11. JA asks TA if he wants cash for the $100 she owes him, or to have her clean for it. TA says-- cash.
January 13-14. TA was being friendly, she pulled a Jodi, he tells her- forget it. Not gonna listen to you tell me how youre better than me.
That is followed by JAs epic whine about how she cant sleep, shes heading to his house, etc. Travis tells her stay where you are. And put on socks -theyll help you sleep.
January 15-17. (Payback). Multiple accidental texts, including one about how shes loving her comfortable jammies, oops--that was for my mom, have to get better at that.
Texts him constantly to get his attention. I need a book to read
has my check to court cleared yet, etc. etc. etc.
Later on the 17th she drops the indirect and goes flat out with sex enticement, gets his attention, dresses up as a little *advertiser censored*, tells him she wants to take a bath with him, tootsie pops (will largely replay this on 2/25).
There are no outgoing texts by TA from January 17 at 7:43PM thru January 18 at 12:26PM, though he clearly sent some, as others are responding to what hed sent, including the .
January 21. The day she did not go to his house, did not see a paper swirl to the floor, the day she did mess with him about his car, not returning it to him for FHE, later playing with his head when he got irritated with her about yet one more car- switch game of hers.
January 22. Asks Travis if hes made the deposit, says shell make it up to him.
January 23. Early evening, TA calls her, she says she cant sneak away to talk, TA says--just say youre on a date, that would be ok.
6:48PM. JA- no that would be rude
7:19PM. TA-. Just stay away from me, Im sick of all this. No one else do I have a problem with. Go to freaking Crater Lake by yourself. Dont call dont text. Leave me alone.
7:22.PM. JA- Just so u know I erased that text without reading it because Im sure it was rude.
7:24.PM. TA- Dont ever call me again!
10:00 PM. series of texts by JA telling him to call her.
January 24. 1:04PM JA tells TA not to worry, his wallet is in her car, and that shed be back that night. (ETA- need to double check that time...can't be right..?)
January 25. TA asks her if she can clean his house on Monday AM before the home appraiser arrives. Nope, shes too busy, isnt available until Tuesday.
At 5:27PM. Travis asks her to please drop off his wallet (that somehow made its way into her car the morning before, and that she hasnt yet returned to him).
January 27. Lisa tells him hes the one, she feels lucky, I love you. TA responds in kind.
January 28. Her journal. TA texted me to call him as soon as I got off work. He needed to borrow money. I helped him without a second thought, just as hes helped me. I lended (sic) him $250.
(Reality check- nope. No texts from him, just from her, after FHE ,saying she got compliments on the BYU shirt hed given her.
January 29. Her journal. Ate out with TA. Was really irritable today. Need to keep that in check.
(Must have been a short meal. TA was extremely busy all day and night.
January 29. JA texts (to TA): hi everyone. Have 1 ticket to sell, $20, to PPL event in San Diego. TA replies- Ill take it. She says--serious? TA says-Yeah. Then, a few minutes later--totally joking .
January 30. TA tells Taylor he needs to deposit the money by tomorrow (31st) by 6PM, would a check be easier? Taylor says hell leave it at his moms house.
JA sends TA lewd texts and tells him hes hot, but that Im not hitting on you.
January 31. Her journal. TA needed money again. Gave him $220 towards his gigantic mortgage. Followed TA over to Taylors house, then went to bank and gave him the $220. Dont miss mortgage payments. I pray for him daily.
January 31. (Travis MUST deposit money by 6PM to cover his mortgage payment, TA doesnt seem to have a car to drive).
Text, JA to TA. 5:10PM ----Lost my keys, still searching.
(Otherwise that day, Travis is busy planning a party for the weekend, texting with Lisa, and

February 1. Her journal.
Trying hard not to be in a state of blame, but if it werent for TA Id be with friends in San Diego tonight, had bought tickets to a PPL event there and now I cant go.
Ive been squeezed dry and then some because of him. Drained my checking account to put money in his, checks bounced, almost $100 in fees he refuses to pay, then he has the nerve to scream at me about balancing my checkbook, said he wants to put a gun to his head and pull the trigger.
I know what it feels like, so with great compassion I calmly and sweetly and soothingly told him everything was going to be OK, this too shall pass and everything will be worth it in the end.
I lended him another $80, drove him to the bank to deposit it because he didnt want to step foot into the bank, and by the end of the day he seemed better and was talking positively about our trip to OKC. I love him and dont want him to stress too much-its bad for his health.
I enjoyed myself today, actually, had no idea TA was going through such hell.
Reality--about the only truth in that is her obvious resentment that she has to repay Travis for anything, that she's irked TA's money problems are inferring with his ability to keep providing her the trips and restaurants and good times she expects from him.
ETA: Travis saying he wanted to shoot himself over $100 bank fees and her unbalanced checkbook- that is not to be believed.
But....according to Taylor, Travis would have just lost his Temple Recommend, perhaps even the day before. THAT would have been more than enough to upset him, and it fits with the warped thing she said she told him-- this too shall pass and it will be worth it in the end.
She's thinking of herself because that's the only person she ever thinks of. Here's a thought...maybe her going full out in January (and before that) to have sex with him wasn't because she thought sex would be enough to convince him to marry her. Maybe her plan all along was to destroy his standing with the church so she'd be his only choice for a wife? That's why it would be "worth it " in the end?
(BTW, by her own reckoning on May 26, the actually lended Travis a grand total of $220, not even the smallest fraction of what he had so generously spent on her for trips and meals and even helping out with her bills. I suspect TA never asked her for a loan at all, rather, that he needed her to pay him back what she could of the money he fronted for her airfare back to CA at Christmas or some like thing (hence the check for $600 odd dollars and the explicit repay of $100).

February 4. Texts. Lisa tells TA shes won $25, TA tells her to deposit it in his checking account, she says she was thinking about buying food with it but would give it him, of course, if he needed it, that once theyre married-or at least engaged--he can share in all her spoils.
February 4. Her journal. It isnt easy helping TA financially, but hes helped me so much. Of course this would be a no brainer if we were married. Hed get every dollar I earned to help pay his mortgage, and his future Prius payments, etc., but thats another matter.

Most of the people 'from all over the world' probably wouldn't even pass the required background check (or pay for it for that matter). Considering that their last appeal fund matching donation campaign seems to have fizzled out, I really doubt her supporters could afford air fare, hotel, etc., to get the 'privilege' of visiting her for 15 minutes. We know that untalented rapper guy can't visit her now thanks to their publicity stunt, and some of her other supporters, including Donovan, have their own legal entanglements that prevent them from visiting her. I think Donovan is desperately trying to get back into the killer's good graces after getting kicked out of the inner circle. :moo:
