Hi higherlove

Based on the pattern of their toxic relationship, I truly don't. He told his best friend about the May 26 argument. The friend asked if he was afraid. Travis said "no she's a psycho but she's harmless."
I suspect she called, he saw her number and returned her calls. She's a sociopath. Not many people have the tools to deal with such highly manipulative people. Once he calls I'm guessing she either starts babbling about some made up problem she needs his help with or turns up the flattery . Maybe phone sex? Maybe she heard enough from asking him questions to satisfy herself that if she were to go through with her plan that he'd be home, not out of town or have guests for some reason.

Are you talking about the same best friend that JA had a pretty cosy pic with in what looked like TA's kitchen(AD), who was also friended with her on Myspace even after the murder? Sorry but TA struck me as a bit of a braggart when it came to the ladies but he wasn't exactly a kiss and tell type as evidenced by his discretion when it came to being called a virgin(imo that was to protect DR's reputation, not his). Just because he allegedly called JA a nymphomaniac to a friend or two means nada, I would think anyone willing to give it up outside of committed relationship in that culture would have garnered the same title. Plus none of us really knows exactly what the extent of their sexual relationship consisted of beyond JA's words/lies and the couple of times that TA himself mentioned during their chats. Heck, it could have been 99% talk and the rest basic groping, grinding and the occasional h/bj's and over the course of two years of her trying for more!

Hi Tex...To me, at the point where she's already planned to kill him, and is almost on her way, it makes no sense that they were having phone sex. I think it's more likely she'd been gnawing away at him still, in the voicemails (wouldn't we love to hear those)...maybe taunting him with her blackmail, whatever it was (probably that sliced and diced sex tape), and they fought again, over the phone. An hour long phonecall isn't out of the ordinary, as he had previously spent torturous hours trying to make her be human, begging her to have a conscience.
It just doesn't fit for me that he'd be having phonesex or falling for her crap again. If that was the case, and he was hot 'n ready for her to come, then why...why the gas cans and the dying of the hair and the furtive renting of the car etc etc etc. There is NO way he knew she was coming, and that's because he told her never again.

I also feel that the way she killed him was obviously overkill. She was enraged, and what enrages Jodi? Being told "I"m done with your s***. Play your head games with someone else." I believe that's exactly what he told her those last days of May and June.

Tex, I know you said you don't think he knew she was coming. But if she'd persuaded him to help with some imaginary problem, or flattered him, or had phonesex with him during that call, it means business as usual between them. Then she'd have THAT phonecall recorded as well, so she could parade that out while being accused of murdering him. "See how well we were getting along right before I hopped in my rental to go to Utah?"

It was the End and she damn well knew it.

Admin Note:

The personal bickering on this thread is not going to the tolerated another day. Disrespectful tones, snark, quoting and arguing stops immediately.

If you can't agree to disagree, then I suggest learning how to "scroll and roll" or make use of the ignore feature.

I realize Nurmi has published a book and that is the ONLY reason I am not closing this thread at this time.

If the personal bickering continues, I will be issuing lengthy Time Outs for every member who remotely participated.

Final warning.

La Louve, thanks for sharing your thoughts on several relevant topics. Travis' behaviour towards Arias in May shows a roller coaster of emotions. His texts in Early May veer from swearing he will never speak to her again to loving. Their relationship was a toxic roller coaster ride punctuated by returning to sexual behaviour - even after huge fights. Travis is certainly not to blame for returning to the drama and sexual tension. It's very human and makes him more a subject for compassion.

Just some random observations:

If 281129 was so devious to supposedly plant all this photographic evidence to make it look like they had sex on June 4th, how come she couldn't come up with a better cover story? We all know she ain't Einstein. I keep coming back to Occam's Razor on the sex/no sex issue.

I get the impression some posters here have no experience with a "love/hate" relationship..where the sex is the only thing keeping a person with someone they don't really want to be with anymore, or to stay in a toxic relationship just for the sex. Like couples that regularly fight and fight and fight and then have "the best make-up sex". If you've never experienced this type of relationship, you might not be able to understand how intoxicating the sex can be. I've been there; I know. The hormone Oxytocin, which is released during orgasm (and interestingly, breastfeeding) is responsible for the bonding effect between mother and baby, intimate partners, and social relationships. Hence the difficult and conflicting emotions that can arise when that bond is injured or broken, intentionally or not.

I also get the impression that some posters here have never dealt with any kind of addiction and perhaps don't understand the cycle of use and withdrawal and use again - just to make the withdrawal effects go away. How sick and tired one can become of that cycle and yet simultaneously feel hopeless of ever being able to break that cycle. Of hating the very thing you cannot tear yourself away from. Or how difficult it is to go "cold turkey". How high-risk the first few weeks of going cold turkey can be, and how important it is to stay away from high-risk situations that will take you back to using (like buddies you smoke or drink or drug with, or people you have sex with). How it really is an effort one day at a time. As a recovering addict, I've been a little surprised and insulted by the lack of compassion and understanding by some of the posts that seem to minimize the whole reality of addiction. As if acknowledging Travis's addictive cycle with 281129 is some sort of an insult to him. To me, all it says is he was human.

Very very well stated

Perhaps she hadn't read their own Handbook for it... or got the model wrong. The silver one was the DSC-H9 but the black one had a different model #... DSCH9/B. Either way, the bit I had quoted from the Handbook for it clearly said you can save stills from playing back your videos.

Hi Val. Email Sony support. It takes a few hours to get a reply.
When I asked them about taking pictures while filming a video or while viewing a video they replied it is not possible
I even emailed twice and got the same information both times from two different Sony technicians.
I think despite her claiming she was a "photographer" Jodi was simply a picture taker. Something she enjoyed but had very little true knowledge of.

Rickshawfan, Travis repeatedly said he was addicted to Arias. His own words are very strong evidence. His family and friends used addiction-like dependency terns. His behaviour is very strong evidence. The sex tape shows Travis tell her that despite everything, he is glad they started *advertiser censored***** Just before that sex tape, IIRC he was swearing he would never speak to her again if she wasn't truthful. Addiction isn't my term for how Travis felt about Arias. The words were repeatedly used by Travis. I believe him.

Does anyone know what kind of knives were in the Cobalt 'getaway' car, ie hunting, bread and butter, carving knives, what kind? I think she needed a strong hunting knife of some kind to slash tires and not to bend when she was stabbing her victim.

Welcome mademellow2!! :)

Hi higherlove

Jmo but I don't think the June 2 calls by Travis were hostile. He doesn't seem the type to seek out confrontation IMO.
My total complete guess was when he called it was some sort of normal conversation between the two. Maybe phone sex. Maybe she just rambled on about her sister, or that darn cat or sang him a song.

It was not those calls on June 2 that set her off. She'd been planning this. It wasn't a spur of the moment decision.

My reasoning is that when she did appear at his home, expected or not, she was not thrown out. If Travis was done with her, furious enough to call and chew her out for an hour it's only my opinion that when she arrived he'd have asked her to continue on down the road. Instead she remains in the home quite a long time while they have make up sex, jmo, take pictures just like the ones discussed on tape.
She did know it was the End. But she'd decided it was going to End on her terms...with his death. All she needed was for him to forgive her one more time, just like he said on the tape that he always does. The evidence presented by Martinez in court suggest, IMO that's what happened.

Including the whole trying to view sentimental photos of their travels on CDs, IMO.

There's no reason to believe he was feeling sentimental about trips that meant everything to her and little to him as -they related to her, anyway.

More problematic is her conflicting lies about the computer. It was fine and virus-free when he happily greeted her at 4:30AM and sHe sat down to watch stupid videos with him, but lo, in the afternoon (what time she surely couldn't say), suddenly his computer is so infected they can't view the CD's. Even though she has her own computer with her, yet. And even though Spybot has successfully run itself or been manually started at 1:44pm, and even though his computer was definitely manually accessed around 4:30PM.

Actually, I love the possibility she was hoisted by her petard with that lie too, given JM's counter: well, thanks for that--saying you brought along CD's to view with Travis is just another way to spell P-R-E-M-E-D-I-T-A-T-I-O-N.

That was a brilliant moment, and I didn't know those CDs had been found until the book.

Oh, something just clicked - the lie that he couldn't bring up the menu to open the CD drive because of the virus; she knew LE had been all over his hard drive and figured they'd be able to tell if the CDs had been viewed (which she knew they hadn't) so the virus is what kept him from being able to open them. Yet it was fine earlier to watch YouTubes and fine later, late in the afternoon. I'd really love to know the computer activity just before and after the Spybot activation...heck, I want to know everything done on that computer for all of June 4th - do you think once everything is unsealed we might see the hard drive reports? Is that too much to hope for?

Her records at Sherrif Joes hotel boutique are interesting.
She usually had about 50 bucks in her account but after the trial process began she was up to over $1000 quire often

Maybe because at least some here posting about it don't think he was "addicted" to her and have explained why? Maybe some believe it more accurate to say he was the inexperienced and vulnerable prey of a psychopath? Maybe it is the case some understand precisely what addiction is and are annoyed by its casual or inexact use here? Maybe some believe he was caught in a cycle with her earlier but had broken free?

I've read here or said here all of the above. And I don't see any lack of compassion at all in any of those responses. Quite the opposite, actually. As for a better cover story.

That sounds like Nurmi saying- if she really had gone to such lengths to hide her tracks, why would she have been so stupid as to save the gas can receipt?

Yet, she did and she did.

Why? Because she is a sociopath who THINKS her IQ is as great as Einstein's. And keeps acting on that belief, still, LOL.

Thanks for your reply, Hope4More.

BBM#1 Please enlighten me as to where my description of my personal experience with addiction is inexact or casual? After hard work with professional addiction specialists to overcome my issues, I think I have a pretty good handle on what addiction looks like.

BBM #2 And yet the prosecution's case, which the jury all accepted, was that sex did indeed take place on June 4th. The defense certainly couldn't say that the sex pics were manipulated onto Travis's camera from some previous episode, as that would been another proof of premeditation. But now years after the fact, Miss Einstein is apparently smart enough to have some folks convinced that's exactly what she did.

They released the jailhouse records, Tex?

Morning geevee
Yes. From when she got to Hotel Arpaio in 2008 up to mid 2013 during the trial. Not too much detail though. Just shows deposits and records when she makes a purchase but no details on what she bought

'Morning, Tex :). Okay, thanks, I wonder what's happened with the investigation/reason for having withheld them all this time, I haven't seen anything about it.

Just looked again (BK site)
Today there's also a deposit record. It shows date, amount and name and relationship of who sent it

For example Sandy Arias $60, parent

But most names are redacted, for example ( first name blacked out) Andrew, friend sent $200 then $600

Also gives city name. Steve blank from Las Vegas, friend $233

There is a first name of Steve from a guy in LV and several from a guy in MO. Were either of those locations the one that Nurmi mentioned? Can't remember what context either - was it a will or just how manipulated he was?

eta: Made me kind of sad to see her grandmother's monthly donations of $25 plus change - probably couldn't afford it and continued even after the commissary account was over $1 k. JA had more to spend on Hersey bars than her grandmother probably had to live on.

RBBM:

That's the same thing I thought Lin. Sad to say the least, and to this day her Grandma more than likely still believes the killers lies. How she (JA) sleeps at night is beyond me. How will she feel when she is told a family member has passed and she can't say goodbye? There are so many things she gave up, and for what... jealousy, the fear of being exposed, she is pure evil! The ones sending the butcheress money can't be that naïve, or can they? My brain is numb from thinking about it and I sincerely hope she is never free to hurt anyone again.

Nurmi & Co went to Las Vegas, remember, to interview some guy living with his mother, iirc? And Nurmi said the visit made of real for the guy, that he'd uncovered lies by his client but they were unrelated to whatever he was trying to track down. (I read Y or No's generous summaries, not N's book, and can't remember any more detail).

There was a farmer who died recently who supposedly had her in his will. But didn't. Not sure where he lived.
