It was MBB--Her hometown police in NORWICH, CT gave the family the runaround---NYPD got involved ONLY because the last(or next to last) contact made to her was via email from the STATEN ISLAND leo, so that peeked their interest immensely--afterwards though, the lead detective was very helpful for awhile

I too questioned who planted those trees at the GB4 site several weeks ago in another thread. There were trees also planted at the Halsey Manor Rd. site at about the same time. The land at both sites is owned by State Parks Dept., they also manage that large maintenance/dump site by Zach's Bay.

Two NYPD spokesmen confirmed that the remains were reported to police yesterday, but because of poor visibility, the harbor units were unable to retrieve them until today. The Medical Examiner's office is currently conducting tests to determine cause of death.
Canarsie Pol is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area serviced in part by the U.S. Parks Department. On a related note, the NYPD's press office said that they had no information on the human remains reported by Geoffrey Croft to have been found at Plumb Beach yesterday.

Here is one of those weird coincidences: Most serial killer victims worldwide and throughout history in any country in the world including even some countries not existing anymore, were found on public land. Which makes finding bodies on public land a lot less noteworthy. But then, people react always so fast and nasty, if you put bodies in private backyards, maybe that's the reason, serial killers preferred always areas were no people are hanging out all the time. Just as side note. And of course, it's only my opinion, SKs prefer public land for the lack of observant eyewitnesses.

But, I believe the park rangers are equipped with badges and they are armed (much like police). And, we all know there is no shortage of burlap associated with land renewal, reforestation, prevention of soil erosion, etc...etc...etc... preservation of park property.

It has been reported and dozens of times dismissed. Any kind of LE would be there all year, not only in the summer months.

LE is probably one of the rare professions without connections to burlap. Or do you know any uses for burlap in LE?

According to MG's statement, she claims that SG told her that she was doing "a job" to buy her something for her birthday. More than a theory. It's stated as a fact by MG in this interview. Then the following week the NY Post and all the other big papers repeated the info. It wasn't falsely reported unless you think MG gave false info in this and other interviews when she said this.

IMO the mother's theory is nonsense. In that business you don't stiff the driver on his fee, SG would have been well aware of that (she had been escorting for a while) and she would NOT have attempted to do so.

That is because park land is usually fairly isolated and thus is a good spot for a killer to dump a body.

CBS 880 radio is the original source that reported how Dr. Hackett stated that he was the last person to see SG alive. I wrote them the following email & letter challenging the accuracy of their report. I will repost their response once I receive it.

Here is the text of my inquiry;


Dear Tim.

I am writing to you today concerning the accuracy of information written by Mike Xirinachs in this article;

Mike Xirinachs does not state whether or not he is claiming that Dr. Peter Hackett made this statement directly to him or to another source.

I am a member of a website called websleuthers.com where novice crime solvers such as myself work on unsolved cases. It has been debated whether or not this quote in this article written by Mike Xirinachs is actually a misprint or a misquote. We cannot locate any proof that this statement was ever made by Dr. Peter Hackett. No other reporter other than Mike Xirinachs has ever reported that Dr. Peter Hackett saw Ms. Gilbert. There were several other Oak Beach residents who did see Ms. Gilbert running away the morning that she was last seen alive. Did Mike incorrectly list Dr. Hackett as the source of that quote when he meant to list one of Dr. Hackett's neighbors?

Is it possible that this is a typographic error?

The Gilbert family has filed a lawsuit where they are suggesting that Dr. Hackett is in some way responsible for the death of Ms. Gilbert. That lawsuit is based upon the allegations that Dr. Hackett met Ms. Gilbert the night she went missing. Dr. Hackett has maintained on the record with the police investigators and all other reporters that he was in bed sleeping with his wife the evening Ms. Gilbert went missing and that he never met Ms. Gilbert. Mike Xirinachs is the only person to go on record stating that Dr. Hackett saw Ms. Gilbert the night disappeared.

How is this possible?

Is it possible that CBS issued a retraction for this statement at a later date to explain that it was incorrectly reported or some sort of typographic error? That would be the most logical explanation. If so, can you please direct me to the link for that retraction/correction so that I may share it with my fellow novice sleuthers who have been following this case very closely?

Any assistance with this matter will be extremely appreciated by many people who are looking for a clarification of what was said and what was not said by Dr. Hackett.

My experience is that when the big media publish a story, they tend to try to get it right because of the legal implications and lawsuits in America.

That is absolutely accurate, escorts could suffer grievous bodily harm and even be killed for trying to stiff a driver/pimp.

They put this article together back in April of 2011.

Mike Xirinachs is a Radio Reporter and would not be the one writing the article.

CBS NY puts these stories togther from a variety of sources.

Funnier is how Mike Xirinach's name is the only name signed to that news article yet according to the CBS representative, Mike had nothing to do with writing the article since he is merely a radio announcer. So the bigger question is, if Mike didn't write the article for CBS, then WHO DID?

NOT-SO-FUNNY is that prior to that article being posted online on April 13, 2011 on the CBS website, there was never any record ANYWHERE of anyone ever writing about CPH stating that "he saw her running at night

Not in a printed newspaper.

Not in TV interview.

NOWHERE.

The quote did not exist prior to this online article posted April 13, 2011 with what we now know as having the incorrect author.

As far as CPH not making a stink about it, well Windsor he did. He wrote the letter to 48 Hours (part of CBS). Also, you give him too much credit to think that he even owns a device capable of accessing and searching the internet. For all we know, he is not aware that this was the source of the now infamous quote stating that he saw SG that evening.

Then again, for all we know he just may not care what we or CBS or anyone thinks he might have said or not said about that evening.
